Nice. I think it would be a lot of fun to process the samples and keep resampling them. Looking forward
Sure, as long as only one of these are plugged in and you don’t need a ‘proper’ audio interface on top.
Does the Mix In go through the effects, and are the effects stereo?
The mix in can be routed I believe straight to out or through effects then out, yes the effects are stereo.
Thanks for the info, @knewspeak
If the reverb and delay were part of the mfx I would buy one of these right away, I really like the delay and reverb on the S-1 synth, which I own.
I want a P-6 even though I know it will be more difficult to use than Koala. But I'm convincing myself it will be a great fx unit for my Mother 32, and I'm intrigued by the CC compatibility with the S-1.
Well, these are out of stock everywhere right now so I have some time to calm down and think it through.
+1
I love hardware. As soon as literally anything comes out I’m all over information about it. Until I after five minutes of drooling realize, yet again, I can already do whatever it is with an app on my iPad….

I think this will be ideal for interesting vocal processing.
Who would want a Volca sample now?
Just been watching some more videos. Maaaaaaanalookie - that’s a lot of diving with the tiny screen and all. I was thinking about it but it would drive me scatty. I know it would.
I just watched the Ricky Tinez video and it killed my desire for the P-6 completely.
To be fair, he didn’t bother to read the manual - many of the problems he encountered had easy solutions…
ok that's interesting. I am a manual reader myself, I actually enjoy it.
I’ve just got mine, the granular synth engine has a lot of control via the CC list but from early experiments pitching down samples produces some beautiful dirty textures that would work wonderfully in ambient pieces, that’s just from standard samples, haven’t tried the granular yet.
The only downside is the clunky method of sample importing and exporting.
It’s ok learning about it…. it’s about remembering it all for me 🤔
This…
…or FRMS (which I already bought ages ago but haven’t done much with as yet)
Hahaha. Yeah man, nothing beats the iPad 😁
I get your point. I have the S-1 and while it sounds excellent, I still can't remember all the cryptic names for the menu items and there aren't anywhere near as many as on the P-6. I keep a menu decoder list for the S-1 on my iPad, but it's unfortunate that Roland went with the crap screens. I don't know if I would enjoy the P-6 at all.
Is the mfx filter on the P-6 the same as the filter on the S-1, does anybody know? Because I love the S-1 filter and, if it's the same one, I would consider a P-6 just to use as a filter box.
We would all appreciate if Roland would finally upgrade their screens. To a humble LCD as on Ableton move perhaps?
🤣
Yes even Behringer’s JT-4000 has a micro OLED screen, certainly not the best but at least you don’t have to learn a new language.
I just watched Jorb's video now I want a P-6 again.
Edit: I just caved in and ordered one. It's the Koala integration that sealed it for me.
I need to make a poster for my wall of Roland hieroglyph translations.
Well done! 👍 😁
Mine turned up today and yes, you’re going to need that poster… 😬
What is the Koala integration you mentioned? I know the SP-404 does that but didn’t think the P-6 did?

I just discovered this as well. Hmmmmm……….
anyone know if Aira P6 has ping pong looping option on samples?
Given the clunky nature of the sample tool transfer anything that would improve this workflow would be appreciated but why wouldn’t they have already implemented that workflow in the sample tool already.
I feel like it’s so much faster and simpler for me to just record the samples live than loading them. Like literally just doing it manually via the audio input to a pad?
Totally agree… and with midi sync on sample, and the ability to define how many bars, it’s super easy to sample over USB from many apps on iPhone and iPad… 👍
Yes 👍
I'm trying to read the manual but some of it is messed up with a lot of random characters and type over type. Mostly what is illegible in the manual are the clues to decode the seven segment hieroglyphics, so Roland doubled down on the confusion. On page 26 the manual tells me that <7( =-<2/ ( is what the display reads when I'm choosing to sample using a threshold. I'll figure it out but I wish Roland wasn't so Rolandy.
Try the html version.
Thanks, that's working. I think I'll print some of these pages.
