I'm trying to read the manual but some of it is messed up with a lot of random characters and type over type. Mostly what is illegible in the manual are the clues to decode the seven segment hieroglyphics, so Roland doubled down on the confusion. On page 26 the manual tells me that <7( =-<2/ ( is what the display reads when I'm choosing to sample using a threshold. I'll figure it out but I wish Roland wasn't so Rolandy.

    Try the html version.

Thanks, that's working. I think I'll print some of these pages.

I had the same problem - if you get “pdf viewer - annotation expert” from the App Store it will read it properly. Nothing else would work for me. You just need the free version, and it even reads the manual well in landscape on the iPhone. There is also a Mac version…

Fantastic! That is a great tip, thank you!

    I just watched Jorb's video now I want a P-6 again.
Edit: I just caved in and ordered one. It's the Koala integration that sealed it for me.
I need to make a poster for my wall of Roland hieroglyph translations.

    Well done! 👍 😁
Mine turned up today and yes, you’re going to need that poster… 😬
What is the Koala integration you mentioned? I know the SP-404 does that but didn’t think the P-6 did?

I just discovered this as well. Hmmmmm……….

Given the clunky nature of the sample tool transfer anything that would improve this workflow would be appreciated but why wouldn’t they have already implemented that workflow in the sample tool already.

That link just goes to the Koala subreddit, is there an explanation of Koala and P6 integration somewhere?

  • The Koala update with P-6 integration might be fake news. I hope it's true but someone else posted in the Koala thread that it's a lie. I don't know.

I got the P-6 in the mail and had a chance to try it out briefly. First impression is that it sounds very good.

The effects are great, I figured they would be because I really like the effects on the S-1 synth. These are the same good quality and it sounded great when I routed the S-1 into the P-6 effects.

It's pretty easy to get started with the P-6. It helped when I cleared the included content and loaded my own samples. It's going to take a while to get used to all the menus but the UI is logical so it's not frustrating to use.

I got the S-1 and the P-6 synced up and had a nice time making beats for the sequences I've made in the S-1.

I think it's a nice box, I have no complaints so far. Like the S-1, it's amazing for the money.
