    Umm, where’s the randomizer?

There are a few different types of randomization options available when u press the Make button. They're detailed in the manual and I covered them in my walkthrough too in a way that I personally think is much clearer than the way they are explained in the manual.

  • Had enough, I’m not going to wait indefinitely for a basic function and all the rest of it which essentially nullifies its usefulness. Refund granted.
Besides as @Gavinski was saying this doesn’t lay a glove on Looperator.

Thanks but I mean the big one click 🎲 to mangle it all up  That’s cool there’s more granular options though.

The first option in the Make panel does that - I forget the name of that option because the naming conventions are kinda strange, but it's the first in the list

I wasn’t sure that first option PAT RHTM was it as it lines everything up each time. Will keep playing.

Oh yeah, the 2nd one will allow them not to be lined up on the beat. If you play around with them and still feel there's an option missing, maybe hit Igor up via email, he might be open to adding other modes.

Besides as @Gavinski was saying this doesn’t lay a glove on Looperator.

To be fair it’s only been a few days and the developer said he’s working on it. Maybe it’s because it’s new but I’m actually preferring this over Looperator at the moment. I’m just using it as a send effect in AUM which is really quick to setup. I sometimes find too many of the effects in Looperator have a recognizable sound and need a lot of tweaking.

Using as a send effect is definitely the way until it gets the new dry wet feature, yes.

Yep, I know. I consider myself to be as fair as most. I seldom ask for a refund - hardly ever. The whole scenario has put me right off this one though - big time. I shall spend my £14.99 on something else.
I’m definitely going to take my time in future instead of rushing in like an exited puppy.

I usually love Igor's apps. BeatCutter is a work of art even if I still don't understand fully how to use it...happy accidents are numerous and no other apps come close to it. But here I really don't understand what is good with LoopMangler. It sounds always the same whatever I try and it doesn't sound good...and there are other apps that can do the same and even better, so...

No question whatsoever that something like Looperator is a lot more versatile, I would take it over this one without thinking twice.

But does Looperator take live input as well?

Yes in Auv3 mode. In standalone mode you can load in a loop.> @gusgranite said:

Have you tried out the User effects in Looperator for added tweakability?

Yes, don’t get me wrong. It’s an amazing app and I love Sugar Bytes. But it always takes me a while to get a sound that’s mine and fits. I get really quick results with LoopMangler. It might just be honeymoon. We’ll see

That’s the kind of thing I was talking about when I said Looperator was hella versatile.

Yes - superb editing options, all on the one page. The only thing that I don’t like about Looperator is that in the AU the steps are fixed at 16 albeit you can make it go at different speeds.

Yes that is definitely a strength of Loop Mangler … longer grid lengths and alternative time signatures.

  • Is Looperator free? When I look it up on the App Store, it has the little cloud symbol with a downwards pointing arrow - but I'm pretty sure I've never bought it (?)

Im sure the standalone is free (and maybe limited), but the AU you have to pay for. Give the cloud a press - you’ve nothing to lose - if it asks you to confirm a payment then it’s time to focus.

I’d love Igor’s app to become indispensible as buffer effects are some of my favourites, and Loop Mangler made a great start, but i feel it needs to level up a bit. For me this could include (some of these are previously discussed, and some of which are in the pipeline)

    • buffer effects
    • Perhaps a wider range of effects e.g. bitcrusher/downsampler, chorus/phaser, reverb, wider range of filters
    • more effect parameters
    • Maybe internal modulation
    • Wet/dry

All legit suggestions. Without internal modulation, things can get a bit samey and repetitive, for me anyway, no doubt

  • I actually decided to return this one, I have a few buys from his arsenal (have'm all) I never use (ClassicFX, VintageRack, SoundSaw and GlitschScaper) so I don't feel too bad. Doesn't feel good either but I can always re-buy if it grows some.

Really wish Effectrix2 was coming to iOS as it has a huge modulation upgrade compared to Effectrix 1.

Without Apple or devs giving us an option to demo apps, I don't think anyone should feel bad about asking for a refund for something they don't like. It seems that although Apple could theoretically keep their fee, which would harm the dev financially, in reality this does not happen. Refunds may be annoying for devs, sure, as that's 1 sale less than they thought they had, but lack of demos is annoying and inconvenient for users, and is fundamentally unfair.
