Nice one, that looks like an interesting read 🙏
Blue Oyster Cult's Don't Fear the Reaper is in 4/4,except one bar right before the solo is 5/4. Some country artists and Jimmy Buffett will throw in a 2/4 measure here and there. Margaritaville has an extra 2/4 bar right before the 1st verse.
Someone just posted about that book. As I stated before as a drummer I’ve worked with Kenny a few times .
Listen to the intro to Tubular Bells. The piano is in 7/8 but the bass guitar alternates between 5/4, 4/4, 3/4, and 4/4 under each 4 measures of 7/8.
I read it when it came out. The good part could be boiled down to a couple of pages. It's right in line with the advice given by @LinearLineman in his posts about his own piano teacher.
Another good one in the same vein is by yet another jazz pianist: Ran Blake, "Primacy of the ear: listening, memory and development of musical style". This one seems a little deeper to me than Kenny Werner's book, but they both contain more or less the same very important advice, only stated in different ways. It just depends on which version resonates with you more. You could start with @LinearLineman's posts.
