Trying to remember whether there is another delay on iOS with built in ducking?

    Crystalline.

Isn't Crystalline a reverb? (I know a reverb is basically a type of delay, but the effect is different than what we've come to know as a delay effect afaik.)

I suppose it is more of a reverb in most ways.

Is it a delay in any way? I think it is just a straight reverb, maybe I remember wrong?

This text is directly from Baby Audio’s web site:

    BPM-Synced Start And End Times:
Crystalline lets you sync the reverb attack and decay time to your DAW’s tempo. This will generally result in cleaner mixes where the envelope of the reflections is naturally in sync with the music. Prefer the classic way? Just hit the “Sync/MS” switch and Crystalline lets you set pre-delay and decay times in milliseconds instead.

The ability to delay a reverb makes it like a delay.

Pre-delay is a reverb parameter. Although delays and reverbs are related, the terms are not interchangeable. This is a reverb, not a delay

You asked if it’s a delay “in any way”. In that way it’s like a delay. It’s still a reverb. But it’s ability to synchronize is not like most traditional reverbs.

Couldn't have put it better, lol. Thanks Gav.

A delay is a sound that's repeated over and over, sometimes BPM synced. A reverb emulates an acoustic space, whether a studio, a hallway, a cathedral, a bathroom, etc. Delays are not reverbs and vice versa.

Crystalline also has Feedback and Modulation controls, so it’s possible to use these to create delay-like patterns, especially with a short reverb tail. Yes, it’s a reverb. But it’s also more than a reverb.

But the main point was really about the ducking element anyway.

In a way, that's like comparing a beaten-up 2010 Ford Focus to a McLaren MP4/4. Sure, both are cars, but they are built for wildly different purposes. ;)

Although, like this other thread said - who cares which does what so long as the client is pleased with the results.

  • Hey guys, yes, Comeback Kid is out now!

The intro sale will last until December 9th at which point the app will go up to $19.99.
    Hope everyone enjoys!

  • Comeback Kid looks very cool, but if I own Other Desert Cities (and like it), does CK bring something very different and unique to the table? I’m trying not to just buy more apps for the sake of it, unless they offer a very different sound or approach.

@tristan I just bought it. Sounds great but it as that tiny Baby Audio presets manager. ☹️ I don’t have tiny fingers.😖

Lol, I know what you mean mate. I don't normally use the preset manager anyways and just come up with stuff on my own.

I'm amazed that people don't expect baby finger-sized buttons from Baby Audio!

I'll browse preset for hours before coming up with my own stuff. Probably because I have no idea what I am doing. Lol
