WASP for iOS?
Are there any wasp clones for the ol iPadOS? I have the behringer wasp deluxe in my cart but if be happy with an iOS version of course.
I could see moog model d getting some waspy vibes too probably, but would love a clone!

'Samples from Mars' have a good sample set for this.
You could easily find a suitable sampler app to load the .wav files etc.
To add to this, there are AudioLayer and Koala which both can be used as plugins.
I actually sampled several sounds from people playing the wasp on YouTube, and other places but i just want full control haha! I have been using wasp samples for a while and might just pull the trigger on the clone, but was looking for that iOS synth alternative first cuz… iOS! Haha
I’ll check out the samples from mars, also beat maker 3 has a wasp sound pack that’s pretty good.
I’m a synth nerd tho! And Like to twist de knobs!!
You know you're going to end up here, right mate?

😏
But in seriousness, I'm also a synth nerd to an extent. Modular is just too overwhelming with possibilities, so I stick to semi-modular mostly.
Chomping at the bit for Synthmaster 3, whenever that releases. And Atoms is on my radar too.
So, I'm rather curious. Is there a Youtube video you reckon shows off the Wasp rather well?
if i'm not wrong, Syntronik had a Wasp. been long since I had the free version installed
edit: no it did not. I'm tripping
maybe 'VHS synth' has a few - I need to check that though.
Its bloody marvelous!
Real synth would be ideal. But just recalled where I played with something Wasp-y
It was one of the Beatmaker 3 packs
Although not available anymore there was also the Hornet inside Rhythm Studio
(first one on the top)
Now I'm dying to hear a proper demo of the real synth on Youtube. I may try to recreate the sound tomorrow.
Think of that 80's song 'kids in America' (Kim Wilde) thats a Wasp on that, her brother wrote the song
@3:11 mentions the wasp.
Excellent example! Tomorrow I'll try to recreate that sound. All reasOne has to do is choose a DAW he works in and a synth. (Honestly I feel Poison-202 would be decent to do this emulation with.)
The Wasp is fairly unique and strange (in a good way) I doubt anything generic would recreate its unique flavour that would include samples of it, as they would only give you a snapshot as to it’s tweek-ability.
This was the first synth I ever played, the Wasp, it’s crappy keyboard and all, oh well into the future…
I know it well as a mate used to have one and we used it way back in the day for techno type tunes.
Not iOS but almost as affordable and won’t break with Apple updates.

Here is a deep dive video for my Behringer Wasp Deluxe.
Hands down one of the best value synths I’ve ever bought, £130 from Amazon.
It’s capable of some great sounds, it has a certain vibe and some very interesting modulation options.
Around the 13 minute mark I create one of favourite patches, I call it The Weather Machine, that uses the Wasps cool modulation features.
It would be awesome is a developer made a synth similar to this.
Samples don’t really work for the Wasp, mainly because static sounds are easy to re-create on any mono synth, it’s “sound” comes from the movement I think.
I hope you enjoy the video and of you can get a Behringer Wasp get one, you’ll have a lot of fun.
The filter is bonkers good.
I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the wasp deluxe, as i figured i would 🤣
This synth has a filter that is just so crusty and dusty that my samples just can’t let me automate.
I’m probably going to sell my op1f in a couple of days and this will take it place on the desk.
I so hope that someone will create a wasp for iOS tho! Having one in my pocket at all times would not be bad. Maybe @brambos has been considering it and now this is the sign 🪧 😎
Tons of wasp used in this album
The late Chris Hugget was a mad scientist engineer who created quite a few unique synths, I own a couple of Novation synths though I would love if Behringer created the OSCar, but I’m not sure if they cancelled it.
I hope you enjoy the Wasp it’s a quirky special synth that I love to tinker with.
I’ve wanted the wasp for years so I’m very happy to have one on the way.
I use arturias iSem a lot on iOS as it has a way of doing some similar things ….but the wasp is one of those truly hard to reproduce with other synths, kinda synths lol.
I’m going to do an ep with nothing but wasp, other than the drums, probably will just do my normal drum methods for that part
Looking forward to hearing your EP. I just listened to the music above and also watched this.
The Wasp seems to have a very unique sound. The sound is meaty, and the filter's resonance is super filthy. We have meaty synths in the appstore, but none with such a resonance. I reckon something similar can be achieved with something like Zeeon or Poison-202 followed by FabFilter Saturn or FAC Bandit, but it probably won't match the sonic signature of the Wasp.
Here’s one of the best wasp demos imo
And thanks man! I’ll share it with the forum when i get a few jams cranked out with the wasp.
Def could get sound sounds with the apps you mentioned and with iSem , and model d as well. But there just something special about the wasp!
Got my wasp today! What a quarky unique synth. The controls dont always work like you would expect or like on most synths in this category!! You can really get some unique tones from this one.
If anyone is interested in how weird it can get, this dude really does a killer job at explaining it as the video goes on
Baby Audio’s BA-1 is largely inspired by the old Yamaha CS-1, which in turn took cues from the architecture of the original Wasp. I wonder if any of that sonic heritage Is still evident. I don’t have a Wasp to compare, but I do still have a CS-1 (my first synth) and BA-1 can imitate it nicely.
Thanks for posting that. And good on her for surviving and leaving the music business.
Today I’ve just been trying to see how weird the wasp can get. Experimenting around with its stranger side is quite fun. Might be boring to watch tho 🤣
Finding the inner wasp lol
Digging the patch at 5 mins.
Seems to be the best soft option out there at the moment https://samplesfrommars.com/products/wasp-from-mars
Yeah, loving that!
Its such a funky weird synth! I dig how strange it is and can lead to some long fun exploration sessions
