  • @TracerY (Frühstücks-Beat) great fun, great orchestration, highly studied, huge amount of work for the video with nice intentional imperfections (I’m assuming).

@sevenape very chilled, the heavy vinyl effect giving a rain-like addition to the overall mood. More notes than normal you say. Minimalism clearly your thing. You mention Koala - I’m intrigued how the video was done. The sound track makes the visuals very complete.

@GeoTony agree very emotional, conversation-like and leaves you wanting more but the message has been delivered.

@pbelgium Auld Lang Syne meets Jimi’s "Star Spangled Banner". A deliciously fresh interpretation

@richardyot enjoyed the production particularly and the contrasting sections with the clean guitar.

@kitejan I have to like such well done ambient noodling especially when your inspiration is less than 20 miles from where I live. You’ve captured both the tranquility and the unstoppable power of flowing water.

@jmcmeex not a genre I’m familiar with nor the M8 tracker. Reminds me that what we lump together as ‘music’ is an amalgam of many threads with some listeners responding primarily to melody, some to harmony, others to lyrics, etc. Thinking it’s rhythm and energy that floats your boat.

@u0421793 Anyone who is brave enough to put their singing out there has my immediate admiration. Catchy with some interesting vocal layering.

@NTKK I’ve begun to appreciate the challenges of keeping this style of music engaging for the duration. Some good production ideas at the start.

@JeffChasteen in some places this seems to morph from a garage band thrash into something that could easily be given an avant-garde jazz label.

@cuscolima intriguing mix of euro pop and lyrics that wouldn’t be out of place in a prog opus. Kudos to the vocalist navigating those tricky melodic lines.

@McD this is very me. Love the urgency from the off, the call and response dialogue, the orchestral colours, the human feel of the drums, the works. Have never tried live MIDI capture in StaffPad but I will be soon.

@Dav And this very me too. Just took a dive into the comments on the original post - an education. The Uwyn MTR one-take discipline is one to aspire to but requires more chops than I possess let alone memory and ability to conceive the whole slice by slice. Maybe that’s why my Yamaha MT2X four track never saw much action back in the day.

@rottencat very dream-like. In combination with the video a very distinct vibe is created. Something’s about to happen. Should I be here? Why am I here? Cool.

@NoiseHorse can’t get more personal than this. I hope your daughter is keen to do more.

@ecou full of surprises and a sense of fun. A joy to listen to.

@DavidEnglish very cinematic, I can see a panning shot of the lower slopes of the mountain. Strings and woodwind, what’s not to like? It does have forward motion without obvious tension and release - some generative / randomisation in the production?

@Lady_App_titude such a lot going on here. Very slick production, great synth patches, brilliant BV’s, excellent lead, tasty harmonies and intelligent form. Swing Out Sister!

@Paulieworld ever full of surprises and fun never far away. I’m guessing your unique workflow was being developed at this time. Your ability to find and match sources and then create engaging compositions across many genres is spectacular. This one almost had me tucking my thumbs in my belt (you don’t want to see an old Brit trying to line dance).

@jwmmakerofmusic I’m not a Trance person but enjoyed the intro and the later echoes of the intro in the banger. As ever, your production skills are to the fore and no doubt your musical choices are spot on for your intended audience.

@kyrillik a calming dream-like feel here. I like your percussion choices with the snare for fills but not an intrusive back beat. Could hear this being used in an advert.

@AlexY period sparse melodic electro-pop with a confident vocal. Ending truly picks up on the lyric. I’m sure there must be a larger audience out there for this type of material.

@Fruitbat1919 a twofer here. The drums immediately catch my ear with realistic ghost notes and drags. Logic Pro Manchester kit I’ve deduced. A great foundation for the call and response and free blowing sections. I really like the way you’ve used the palette of 32 tracks to have some fun and shake things up. Funky. Even a tempo change mid track. Whatever next?

Really enjoyed the change of listening diet. Thank you all for sharing.

  • As you’ve twisted my arm @GeoTony, I offer "Steppin’ Out" as my best track of 2024. A sort of jazz with strings piano feature with a hint of David Axelrod in the arrangement some say.

The original post had a link to a scrolling score video if that’s of interest.

    Happy New Year folks!

  • @AndyHoneybone Thank you so much for your kind words, my friend. :) They are much appreciated. Although now I've switched to Ambient, because I got tired of EDM eating up my sanity. Whereas Ambient is more about grounding and centering oneself. <3

Only finished one track this year (not iOS) because I'm just having fun jamming rather than feeling the pressure to complete and release. This one was dug out of the garbage as a demo of a specific plugin for a friend, but he loved it so much and asked for it to be a "song" so I ended up finding the stereo .wav file in a backup, deconstructing it with Spectralayers Pro, and doing the best I could to add some additional interest.

On the plus side, it's also the only track I've ever sold to someone I didn't know!

I haven’t listened to all of them yet, catching up on them now. What I have heard so far sounds amazing.
