The cat was located after the bird… but the bird was near the parking lot where the cat would be loath to go during daylight.
The cat was just sitting on a log grooming itself on a very slow park attendance day due to rain storms that let up just as we arrived. We have walked this park’s trail over 100 times and seen the Bobcat(s) about 5-6 times in all. The Bobcat’s colors blend in so well with logged trees and dry grass that you can be 50-100 feet away and not see the cat unless you are looking carefully for movement in the area. We were walking behind a good nature photographer and he spotted bobcats twice on a single walk.
With nature: patience and persistence pay dividends for the photographers. As, mentioned above a good telephoto lens really makes the shots seem like closeups when you’re still 50+ feet away. I’m hoping to capture a breaching whale this year but that may require going out on a Whale Sighting boat and my wife has terrible motion sickness so it may not happen.
From a walk this morning…

Nice curves @GeoTony 😍
I think you live in the same sort of surroundings @Krupa , just over the hills from me !
I think so, Calderdale for me, that looks a bit like that reservoir near Marsden, but I could easily be mistaken…
Denshaw @Krupa so pretty close… one frozen reservoir looks much like another 😊
I wish I could control when this happens on my iPhone camera, like a postmodern multiple exposure…
