Enjoyed very much with my java and oats this after-morning.

Thanks! Mom used to make oatmeal for us on cold winter mornings. I liked it lumpy. Haven’t had any for quite a while. We have some instant in the cupboard. Thanks for reminding me!

Oatmeal isn’t really a breakfast we do here, but I’m always up to learn something new. I tried it before with less than satisfying results. I have oat flakes, do you just stir it with milk? Maybe fry them a little before with butter or some fat and then add the milk and keep stirring? Then go the fruit or whatever?

If it’s instant oatmeal, you can simply add hot milk or follow the microwave instructions. That stuff has added sugar and more processed, which is why you don’t have to cook them. Just letting them sit in hot milk with a few stirs as it cools is enough.

I choose the middle road and buy rolled oats. Nothing added. Processing is only related to deshelling and pressing. No sugar.
Bring a pot of milk to almost boil. Gotta be there to lower heat, otherwise the milk easily boils over the pot. Add oats. Continually stir a couple minutes. Much like making pancake mix, it takes practice to get the measurements right. I later add sliced banana to sweeten it up. Or sprinkle in a handful of granola. Or honey.

People buy the steel cut oats for baking.
Since it’s minimally processed, it can take a long time to cook.

I like oat flakes with sunflower seeds and a choice of minced nuts, quickly fried in butter then add some tasty honey at last.
I then mix it with half milk, half coconut milk and add bananas and some cinnamon powder. Plus whatever fruit I might feel like killing.

Imma simplify that a little and try it for breakfast. Have all the ingredients and nothing wrong with the recipe. I’ll just make it my own 😋

  • Enjoy @pedro, feedback is welcome ;)

That’s a lot of good advice, thanks. Actually my body thanks cause it’s getting s nice breakfast tomorrow

  • @pedro @rs2000 @Blipsford_Baubie Seems like this is evolving into a food thread. I dig that! Music and food are my favorite topics. I am Icelandic, and my ancestors ate some crazy stuff. Has anyone tried Rotted Shark? I smelled it once! Another favorite is Lutefisk. It smells terrible, but actually tastes pretty good. Chase it down with some Brennivin (Black Death). A little Vinarterta for dessert. Ama (grandma) would make that. She would let it sit in a cool dark place for at least a week. It got better with age. I drank my first cup of coffee with some ‘terta’. I think I was 10 years old.

No problem. I’m looking forward to trying @rs2000 ’s recipe. Either way, your body will definitely thank you cause you’ll feel fuller longer, from the combo of fiber, protein, and it being a complex carb.

It’s hard to find traditional Viking food, but if you ever hear of a Þorrablót (blood of Thor) in your area, it’s worth looking into. It’s a one of a kind experience. You may not do a repeat… but you will tell your grandchildren about it.

@Paulieworld I knew that They Have Always Been Here! Someone is eating my yogurt from the fridge in the night, but no one believed me. You found the proof and publish it. Now the case of disappearing food from fridges has been explained once for good - these are cosmic hungry creatures B)

Very interesting and complex track to which you can return many times to discover something new - good work. A bit disturbing also for me :) - it reminds me of watching the X-Files in the night when I was younger. It also reminds me a little musical atmosphere of the Porcupine Tree band, which I like very much. Cheers!

Yogurt is very rare and prized where they come from. It is analogous to gold here on Earth. They will go to great lengths to get it. You may not even realize that they are taking it. They are masters of disguise.

Thank you for listening and for your encouraging comments. Much appreciated.

    Superb work P! Love it...

I'm a bit reluctant to go here but, okay: I briefly worked for the worlds largest private archive (according to them selfs) for specialised U.F.O sightings. They were (are) a serious bunch and I learned to keep my excellent jokes to myself. 😇 It was interesting and not what I thought at all. Of all the reports they have: very few are unexplained.*

Well you can read for yourself if interested, I can't say I am though. Sites in Swedish but should be easy translated to your tongue.

*Not the = to being an alien mind you.

That must have been a great experience. Even better if you got paid! I’m not a native Icelander, so I probably couldn’t read it. I only know a few words such as lutefisk, Brennivin, eyjafjallajökull, etc. I was born and raised in Chicaaaago. My dad was 100% Icelandic. Born in Reykjavik. There is a theory that everyone in Iceland is ultimately related to Erik the Red. I guess he was popular with the ladies. No wonder he was so red!

Thanks for listening. Have an outstanding day!

He he, you've told me this before, it's cool. I just wanted you to know that Icelanders and Swedes do not understand each other well, pretty much not at all.
Sure, we have many words in common, as we should but the languages have evolved in very different directions, in the case of Danish, many historians wonder: what the fuck happened (joking)

I wish you as well, an outstanding day

I did not reply to point that (the repeat) out Paul🙃 , I pointed it out while talking about the difference in language.
I never would do anything on purpose to make you feel uncomfortable.. Sorry my man.

Btw: I'm way older than you, I think. Going in on my 63rd round.😉

  • Wow! Havent listened to you in awhile. Having trouble putting my finger on what i hear thats different from when i last spent time trying to get into that hyper-creative mind of yours. More controlled? More intentional? I agree with many of the comments made about this piece being ambient that holds interest. I have always considered “interesting ambient” to be an oxymoron. You have successfully disabused me of that assumption. I have tried a number of times to do ambient but I just can’t. After about 16 bars my mind starts to wander to things other than the music or I fall asleep. But I made it through all six minutes of this, twice!, and it not only held my interest I heard different stuff the second time through. I will do a third and I expect to hear more. Always a characteristic of good music. Anyway you have inspired me to try again using your techniques. I don’t have high hopes of pulling it off but you never know. Thanks for posting.

Oh, and I’ve often thought about the concepts. Especially the time travel explanation. Maybe they’re human beings from the future trying to stop us from destroying it.

    Peace.

  • Oh, so @pedro , you mentioned that, “oats isn’t something we really do here.”
I’ve been meaning to ask you where you live.

Thank you so much for the encouraging words! Sometimes I am the same way. After a few bars, I usually get the urge to do something else. So, I do. This stuff comes together a little at a time over several days. Then I piece it all together, usually on the weekend (unless my wife has other plans for me). I miss live playing with real musicians. Fly By Night must have been such a great experience! Oh well, reality determines what I can do. It's hard to believe my last real gig was 24 years ago at the Countryside Summer Festival. There are a couple videos of that event floating around on the web. I looked so young!

It's fun to speculate about extraterrestrials, or in this case intraterrestrials. Maybe one day we will find out the truth. Thanks for listening to the whole thing... twice! Much appreciated. Have a great week!

  • Every time l listen to this one I hear something new. You are really good at assembling music puzzle pieces together and making a music picture. I read where Stravinsky created pieces like that, he had musical ideas taped to the wall, and he’d pick them out an arrange them into something special.

Thank you very much! What I do is much easier than Stravinsky. I can select an instrument or phrase with a single touch and hear what it sounds like immediately. He had to wait for the orchestra to show up. Time is money, so if it didn't work, he and his benefactors were out of pocket. He relied on decades of experience and skill. It didn't hurt that he was a genius. This new technology makes it much easier to create. The questions is - Is it good? I was never trained to do this. I think I get lucky once in a while.

I'm liking this ambient stuff, but don't know if that's the right word to describe it. I am a bit out of touch. I dropped out of music entirely, 20 years ago when our sons were killed. This iPad stuff was never planned. A while ago, someone turned me on to a group called Porcupine Tree. I thought the name was ridiculous, but I listened to some of their stuff, and liked it. I think I'm trying to recreate something similar, but different. It will take some time, but it's an enjoyable and relaxing hobby that I can share. The music apps are cheap. Most are less than a Big Mac, and they don't make me look fat!

Thanks for taking time to listen and comment. I appreciate that!

I really appreciate this perspective. So easy for me to take for granted—regarding classical composers and modern music making tools.

  • I came expecting a discussion about music and found it was the pros and cons of oatmeal 😊
Re the music , another great Paulieworld production, genres mean nothing, this is just your own thing and darned good it is 🙏
Re food, my input is, while on holiday in the Lofoten Islands (Norway) earlier this year we went for a meal and I asked if they had any starters suitable for vegetarians. The young girl, without batting an eyelid said ’ We can take the whale off the salad’ 🐳
