Two years after being married, my wife and I was listening to Radio Luxembourg one night, they were the first to play OXEGENE in its entirety, the DJ was spellbound by it, so was me and my wife…….47 years later and with the help of Cubasis 3, lots of Synthmaster 2 presets and a boat load of iVCS3 sounds, I covered OXYGENE Part 2, it needs some remixing, but yes, I grew up listening to JMJ 🍻 (I spelt it wrong in the Dropbox link!)

Many thanks for the manual, I have successfully sent it to my PDF reader, I am more than convinced it’s the right choice thanks to all the positive RealPhase comments from all of you.
BTW, you’re not a crank, this is a forum and we are all entitled to our own views, even if you do think I was just kicking tires 🤣
Happy New Year to you 🍻
Mike.
This was utterly brilliant! Beautiful recreation of Oxygene II! 😃 Yeah, I need to learn to wrap my head around iVCS3 and make sense of UI. I can do a decent job of mimicking some of JMJ's signature sounds, but his "weapon of choice" for Oxygene and Equinoxe was that iVCS3.
Happy New Year to you as well.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it 🍻 the iVCS3 is way beyond complex, I intend on putting a whole range of iVCS3 Lazer runs and one shot cycles into Cubasis MiniSampler because trying to get a perfect usable sound is very hit and miss.
More miss than hit in my case with the iVCS3. 😂 It's like trying to read Ancient Latin.
I watched Daveypoo’s videos and saved the initial wiring set up he shows in order to get sound
I'll have to look that up mate! @Daveypoo is a legend, and I know he'll be able to help demystify a few things about iVCS3 for me.
My quest was to find the best phaser that would give me nice slow sweeping from low to high with plenty of scope to change how the effect sounded, I chose RealPhase and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results, some of the presets add a new dimension to my synth apps - a rhythmic quality and the variations available by tweaking the parameters, using the Mirage preset with a speed of .08 gives a nice double phase roll, just what I was looking for, and also the brilliant Equinoxe preset 👌. I also purchased BLEASS Phaser just to compare the two, I prefer RealPhase but add the two together and the overall effect is awesome.
Thank you Zoltan, and thanks to all of you who passed this advice on to me, without it I would still be searching!
🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻 that should be enough beers I think 😉
Glad to hear you went with RealPhase @rapidfire . It's truly a remarkable plugin. Bleass Phaser is also a great plugin and seems to have a more "modern" sound. I like both as they are two different flavours of phaser. ☺️
I’m looking forward to using it with Automation in Cubasis so I can control where I want the sweeps, it is very deep and so much control, I’m really pleased with it 👌
Sounds good.
Glad to have aided your search.
Time to set phasers to stunning.
I’m up for that 👍
Can we set RealPhase to kill? I think so.
Legend is a bit much... perhaps "Genius" or "Modern Adonis" is more accurate.
😉
Woa 🙌
How does Real Phase compare with FAC phaser (which I own already )?
Just saw this, lol. Nah fam, you an OG legend on the iOS scene like Doug and Jakob. Been around for as long as I've been seriously producing music on this platform. It seems you joined here 8-9 years ago. Which is awesome. Thank you for all that you have done, mate.
Here's how the phasers I already have (that I'm aware I own lol) sound to my ears.
-Real Phase is closest to an analogue phaser you'll find. As mentioned by me and others, it's the closest to what Jean-Michel Jarre used on Oxygene and Equinoxe. Has a nice, mellow phaser effect. So yeah, if you want to sound a bit like Jean-Michel Jarre, definitely grab this phaser to slap onto iVCS3.
-FAC Phazer is a bit more obvious of an effect but isn't overly aggressive. It has nice phaser characters, but Tirus is my go-to phaser character in this particular plugin. But you can use whatever flavour tickles your fancy in the moment.
-Bleass Phaser is a huge angry bitchslap of a phaser. 😂 It's right there in your face. Definitely a specialised modern phaser which is quite lovely to use.
There are lots of rhythmic modulations that create a new dimension to your sound, I was only expecting to get different phasing effects from RealPhase but there was far more, and what’s more….the amount of changes that can be made is limitless. I have FAC Phaser and BLEASS Phaser but RealPhase is now my go to phaser 👍
Thanks😊
Ok I’m sold lol hopefully this month’s royalty check will be good cause if so I’ll grab it!
@jwmmakerofmusic Thanks, man. Remember - flattery will get you EVERYWHERE. 😉
Long time! Nice to see you around.
Hey man
Great video on the different drummer
I think it’s a fascinating app
Did you ever work on metal with it
Someone as well versed and talented with rhythms as you surely can do so easily
Have you ever tried any ? Or is metal not in your taste?
I disagree ; I flirted with the wrong guys wife and ended up being arrested by her cop husband so , ya never know who your flirting with
I speak only when the flattery is directed at me - your mileage may vary.
Ofc - that was not a real anecdote
The real flattery was right above it
@yellow_eyez To answer your question, though - no, I've not used it on any Metal projects. The thing I found challenging with Different Drummer was making it fit musically in the styles I write in. It's an amazing conceptual app and I had LOADS of fun mucking about, and I can see loads of potential for those willing to invest the time. That being said, I struggled applying it to my own music.
I should play with that one again - it's been awhile...
