You have to click on the "i" (Information) and then "FUEL 🌟". I really wish it just said "SEND THANKS" or "DONATE". It's too obscure to find right now.
Eh? Mine says "Thanks ✌🏼".
Did you update it today to the latest version? Also, I'm running it on an iPad Pro. Maybe there are different messages for different layouts?
.
That was it - today's update.
Nothing works. However, I had a look at the “SuperJ6” analytics report. Maybe this is helps @AnalogMatthew : I can see a bug_type 309, and then comes the long report. It looks like this is the symbol where it is keeling over:
{"value":288230384566420673,"symbolLocation":288230376151711745,"symbol":"OBJC_CLASS_$_UIStoryboard"}
And although it’s a MIDI problem, the crash happens when touching a control in MIDI learn mode.
I have just mailed you the IPS log to hello@audio….
@AnalogMatthew one small labeling issue: the delay feedback knob says “taps”, which could leqd to confusion
Thanks mate.
I bypassed Apple and went straight for the donation jar link.
If J6 were a paid app, Matt would probably charge a fiver at max. So I made sure to donate more than that. 😅
Honestly his apps are amazing, and he doesn't charge a huge nasty price for his paid apps. The fact he made J6 free is, frankly, quite crazy. Not unappreciated by me to be fair.
Thank you again @AnalogMatthew ! Good lookin out.
That is super interesting! And, thanks for the log, sadly, it didn't reveal many clues.
Anyone else been able to replicate the crash?
If so, can someone pleas tell me exact steps (ie pressing the midi learn button above the keyboard or the one on the about page, what control). Maybe there's something common that we can identify 🤔
I really want to find this bug. Maybe try clearing all the Mappings (if they're not already cleared?)
Thanks for asking about the donation link! Because of Apple’s rules, I’m not allowed to use the word “Donate” for in-app purchases.
I’m trying out the word “Fuel” instead, as in helping to fuel development and educational programs. The old “Thanks” button didn’t really catch people’s attention, so I’m hoping this feels a little more inviting.
Big thanks to those of you who have chipped in. You’re seriously the best and I appreciate you a lot!
Thank you. For your generosity and sounds.
I appreciate you too, mate.
At least @oscillotus found some way for me to send you a little spare change.
Happy to help when I can
The synth came at a really good time when I was looking to simplify my workflow and work with more constraints. I was looking to dig deeper in a handfull of plugins and this one fills really good the synth spot.
It indeed fills a good synth spot on Cubasis for me personally.
Matt has created something very special here.
Confusing and annoying and it drives me completely bonkers.
Synth sound really good so a great thanks from me as well Matthew.
It's much less confusing if you stick to the classic half-screen layout in the AUv3, because you cannot rely on (or control) what appears in the lower panel.
It goes DCO-VCF-ENV-FX-LFO-PRESETS-X/Y PADS-SEQUENCER. I understand how it can seem confusing. But for me, it works decently!
I would still love to hear a detailed explanation of how the taps on the left-hand and right-hand icons interact in full-screen layout. I feel like I can get used to just about anything if I understand the logic behind it.
It's been one of those nagging confusions on my part since these layouts have been introduced. Usually I just shove that to the back of my brain and tap around until things look right because it's never the right time to think about it.
Stuff jumps around between the top and the bottom in what seem like arbitrary ways, though I know there's nothing arbitrary about it.
I'm away from my iPad, but if I remember correctly, the tab your tapping is always on top. If you tap on a tab that's already on the bottom, it will change to the top but I'd have to look on my iPad to see which tab would then open on the bottom. I could be wrong tho, @AnalogMatthew could maybe chime in on that!
It's very confusing to me.
When I choose, say, the DCO for the top and the LFO page for the bottom, everything is fine as I tap through the upper tabs- ENV, VCF, FX. But when I tap LFO, since the top and bottom are never the same, the bottom LFO view changes to Preset view. Also then sometimes when I tap one of the upper tabs, the bottom view changes instead.
I would love to understand the logic, I just keep tapping around.
I really like this synth. Although I don't understand the tab structure, the UI is easy on the eyes and nicely laid out. It's my favorite subtractive analog-style synth on iPad, I think it sounds very nice. I got to spend some time with it this evening and I'm impressed. Thanks, supported.
I guess it’s not really so complicated after all. Just unintuitive.
The first tap on each button at the top puts that thing in the top section. Subsequent taps on that same button cycle through the other sections in the bottom section.
I feel better now that I get it.
[epilogue] The cycle order in the bottom row is the order of the buttons, including the preset browser, except that the sequencer and x/y pads order are reversed. The “I” button isn’t part of the normal cycle order for the bottom row, but acts like the rest when put into the top row.
Sure sounds great. 😎
The least I could do, you’ve contributed a lot to the community. Thank you!

Yes, there is a kind of logic to the way this works, but I'm sure Matt could think of a way to do it less confusingly. Probably a simple two tier system, each horizontal tier scrollable, so you have it set up exactly as you like.
For me it seems that ENV and VCF are also switched up on the bottom row. But it's still early and my kid is up since 4:45AM asking why it's already bright outside, so my memory could be playing tricks on me!!
Condition Green: I factory reset my iPad this morning because I had the suspicion that something is odd. Problem gone, MIDI learn works. I still don’t know what was wrong, but well, it’s Apple and not Linux…
That idea is more in line with how my brain works.
Exactly.
To put it another way, the Top window is set directly by pushing the corresponding button.
The Bottom window cannot be set directly. It only cycles through the available panels, and skips the one assigned to the Top window.
To cycle the Bottom window, you tap the button that corresponds to the panel currently assigned to the Top window.
The Top and Bottom window never show the same panel.
If you tap the button that corresponds to the current Bottom window panel, the Top window will change to that panel and the Bottom window will change to the next panel in the cycle.
