NS2 Post-Discontinuation Issues & Questions
As suggested by @wim, here is general thread for any issues experienced in NS2. Cause official NS2 forum is now OFF, any develpement is closed chapter too, we can at least try discuss here any issues, or try answer any questions, which are solvable/answerable without dev's intervention ;-)
And no. There will be NO audio tracks added. Ever.
Keep NS2 live with us as long as possible !

Maybe Blip should change this bit of the website:
No need.
@attakk
only forum, main page is still working https://www.blipinteractive.co.uk/
Ah, ok. I hadn’t checked it. I had a page open already in Safari and that was what was returned.
Small PSA: If you have an older device, this might be a good time to grab the original NanoStudio:
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/nanostudio/id382263651
Also, Windows version (and NanoSync software if you plan on syncing files directly from your device to your Windows version):

Old school but still very nice
Still working on Safari on Mac.
I would miss the inevitable questions about when audio tracks will be added.
Yes, worth getting (still having fun then the old thing :-) ).
Unless I missed something when downloading to a test device with a test iTunes account is it looks like you still have to pay for the 16track upgrade to NS1.
Every time I open it up, it makes me immediately sad that it’s gone, knowing how well thought-out, and how simple and beautifully aesthetic this piece of software is. What a brilliant job. How unfair that it cannot last. No offence to something like Cubasis (or insert name of most other apps here), but there’s also no comparison. Just great to look at.
Well, considering how entire world is going into complete shit in all thinkable aspects, this is just another piece in puzzle.
👍🏻👍🏻
Oh, no! My 16 tracks were already installed. When I look at the link in the store, though, the upgrade “price” is $0.
I’m considering getting one of the new base iPads just to stick Nano 2 on and use it only for that, no iOS updating allowed.
Just keep checkning this thread before you update, and you can safely update it :-)

Thanks Denny, great idea for a thread!
I’ve noticed a few IAPs already won’t download on my phone now. Oh dear.
just yesterday downloaded all of them you need to try it multiple times, sometimes wait a few hours and then try again. It is a bit unstable - sometimes they cannot be downloaded and then it suddenly starts working.
also, I have at home 3 wifi routers and noticed that on one of them it doesn’t work and on other two it works like a breeze
And the tip from the old forum, now defunct, is to repurchase IAP, not restore, and do so one bank at a time. If you try multiple banks it will often not work.
Do it soon if you don't already have the app backed up to a PC or Mac with iMazing. Once it's gone you will not be able to install it from the App Store.
Interesting - I did use a fresh iTunes account and was surprised that the NS1 upgrade was £0.99
I tried various things with iMazing to restore the 16 track purchase but to no avail. I suspect the only way round might be to root the iPad then backup - but I've never done that, and googling the process didn't really help. In any case I have a few devices I can run NS1 on for an extra year or two (or more). Just being paranoid and not wanting to let go :-)
I grabbed my iPad 2 (!) and installed NS1 and the iAP on it. It appeared that I would have to pay $0.99, but in the end it didn't charge me. But that was with the same Apple ID that I purchased it on.
To my great surprise, NS1 ran like a dream on it. I built up a large track without it even breaking a sweat. Which is surprising because even trying to browse the web is too slow to deal with on that poor old guy. Got my little piece of iOS nostalgia sitting there on the shelf. Will try to remember to bust it out a couple of times a year to charge it up to keep the battery from dying altogether.
Cheers for the tip! Managed to get another IAP on my phone.
Anyone having issues with Acoustic2?
I had problems with most of them. Persistence, trying over and over finally paid off.
Apple are known for deliberately making Safari run slow on older iDevices, at some point in time. Same thing on my Mini 2 running iOS 12, while Drambo still runs perfectly fine.
Yep. That last OS update to the until then perfectly usable iPad 2 was when I learned that “backup” and “restore” don’t mean the same thing to Apple as they do to any self respecting IT professional.
Lesson learned. I’m never going “one update too far” again. Lord that pissed me off!
iPad Mini 1 is my NS1 weapon of choice for work lunchtime (today was actually warm enough to sit outside and work on something). That iPad is also fast enough to run Animoog, iSem, Addictive, and Alchemy (if you bought that back in the day you can still use it), Thumbjam and loads of others. Obviously not all at the same time :-)
But try to browse to a website. Nope.
This reminds me. I wonder if I have an iPhone at a low enough OS version to run NS1 in a drawer somewhere. That'd be a fun kind of torture to play with some time.
Off to root around ...
I’ve got an old iPad Mini (circa 2012), that still works but isn’t doing anything. Maybe I could throw NS1 on there 🤔. Have a back-up sequencer…
I’ve never used NS1. Is it drastically different from NS2?
very different... much simpler, limited (it was made on way less powerfull devices so it has less of everything - less max number of tracks, less fxs, simpler synth)
still, tremendous amount of fun :-) i have it too on old iPad mini 1
Bonus points if you also have the Akai SynthStation to go with it.
