Very good, but does anyone else find the UI very very laggy, especially after switching presets?

Happily I have insomnia tonight so I'm up at 3:00am with the new Tides delay.
I'm not getting any lag here in AUM using Tides on Hammerhead and Model D.

Does this new app even start in stand-alone mode without notifications being enabled?!
Sure its primary use-case is AUv3 but that makes it even more puzzling why they even bother with notifications?!

Tides doesn't ask to allow notifications when I open it standalone. My other BLEASS apps will ask and then I click "don't allow" and the app works fine.

So far I'm really enjoying this delay. It sounds excellent, has some fun features, and the UI is a pleasure to use. I'm going to get this for my Macbook as well.

Hmm, interesting about the lag. I quit my iPad and restarted but still had the lag.

OK, for me if I select "Don't Allow" the screen stays black and next time I launch it asks again to enable notifications again, it's an endless loop and only way to use the stand-alone is to allow notifications, oh well, it is what it is I guess, thankfully my life doesn't depend on using their apps :sunglasses:

The app store slowed my screen down to a halt a couple of times.

Doubt its because theres internet in background ?

( I quit my ipad and restarted )

    So probably not.

I'm using Tides in AUM on an iPad Pro 4th gen running 17.6.1. Maybe it's the OS?

I am so going to get it! I hope they have a discount for those that own BLEASS Delay on Win/Mac

Edit: Now that I think about it, can it do something Infiltrator 2 can't do?

Run on iOS. 😉 Although ngl, I hope Infiltrator 2 comes to iOS. Brian Eno uses that, and Eno is one of my hugest inspos for Ambient.

Infiltrator 2 on iOS would be dope! :#

    Here’s my spoken walkthrough:

  • thanks Gav.
folks, is the gui of this
sluggish as it is for Gav?!

It isn't for me, it's fine here.

  • thanks abf.
    very odd...:)

  • Clearly inspired by Reasons Ripley Delay, released with 13, and, it is a superb source to drive inspiration from.

Bleass do not offer any discount on release and knowing that they will drop the price, next big holiday whatever annoys me. This is why I admire companies with firm and honest price policys, they're easily counted though.

@Gavinski Regarding OneShot on Desktop, I had issues with loading times and reported it and they told me to use VST2 instead of 3 and that does it, why the fuck they don't fix v3, I do not know. It has been there since release of the desktop app.

  • Here is BLEASS Tides in Cubasis.
I have two instances in the end, one on an instrument and one on drums.
I like this, it's very creative.

  • Klevgrärnds Modley does something very similar as well (ie. add effects inside the delay loop).

Indeed, does Modley allow for delay time changes without pitch changes? Been a while since I used it, can't remember

Doug - have you run into any lag problems using it in AUM?

  • @Gavinski No, it’s all working correctly for me in that too, and everything else I’ve tried it in.

Hmm, OK thanks Doug, I've messaged them anyway, hopefully they can figure out what the problem is

  • @Gavinski I just watched your video, wow, that is bonkers.

Super laggy every time I use it, I've only tried it in AUM. Restart of device and reinstall didn't fix it unfortunately

Did you try it with other hosts than AUM?.
I've noticed that some other plug-ins can be a bit laggy in AUM but work perfectly in Cubasis & Logic...

No, AUM is the only thing I use currently. That's interesting tho, any idea what might cause that?

I tested it in ApeMatrix as a host just now and have the same problem. So it is not an AUM-specific problem

Only thing I've noticed is that when plug-ins mix rendering contexts (OpenGL, UIKit and Metal etc.) for the UIs there's sometimes a tendency for lag when overlapping or moving the plug-in windows.

The way the plug-in handles its own UI can also play a huge part in this (ie. if it always updates ALL UI parameters or only those that actually need to be re-drawn).

I would NOT be surprised if the lag goes away when showing the plug-in AUM in full-screen mode instead of the 'windowed' mode.

The faster the device the harder it is for developer to track it down...
(For example Poison-202 which uses SpritKit got pretty laggy under heavy CPU load on my old Air 2 while under normal load it was super responsive, on the M1 I hardly notice any lag at all).

There was some smaller graphics fixes in iPadOS18.3.x and there will be even more fixes in the upcoming 18.4 (Should land 1st week of April).

    Cheers!

One point of concern about the desktop version of Tides...

I downloaded the macOS demo for the first time just a minute ago, but the installer indicates I already have AU and VST3 installs which need an "update"... what is going on here, @bleassapp? I have never downloaded/installed this plugin before.

I won't install on desktop until I get an explanation for this.

  • Tested in Cubasis 3 also just now - same problem

  • For a multi-effect delay, nothing beats Replika XT. I also heard good things about Timeless 3.

  • Realised btw that for some reason it is when I have a Bluetooth keyboard attached that I get this lag. Without that it works flawlessly, so problem solved for now, but hopefully Bleass can fix whatever incompatibility there is - I always have a keyboard attached to my iPad, pretty much, and it doesn’t cause these kind of problems

  • q:
    its not clear
how many seconds of delay it has?!
    max

    thnx

  • I’m a BLEASS completionist so I probably will be picking this up when my check hits tonight! Gotta watch those videos first though …
