DroneLab Pro is a dream…

…come true.

I’m on the beta. Dang, it’s nice. I made this using a little Eventide Blackhole and no other processing.

  • This looks like a great tool for practicing harmony. I’ll probably get this once it releases

    Of course Yvonne. <3

  • Nice one. I have gotten a lot of use out of the original dronelab. Excellent for practicing with.

  • Lovely sounds and vibe!
I got on the beta too…
    It’s lots of fun!
    @rottencat
How did you create the video ?
I very much like that too!

  • Thank you very much @id_23.

I made the video with Jam Cam.

OP is correct… absolute dream. Jon Lukas, Thank You!

  • It's big fun!

  • Is it limited to only the five enviro sound sources, or is there a way to import your own?

As far as I can make out, there doesn’t seem to be any import.

There’s no real manual yet, just some FAQ’s, so perhaps something will come to light.

  • I’m struggling to see how this is different from an AUM session with a couple of synths, a couple of LFOs, and a file player, other than being much more limited.

    Same, tbh

Followed that beta link and played with it for a while.

I agree with the sentiment, however for someone fairly new to iOS music “stuff” and like ambient-ish stuff, for the price this is pretty nice. Some kind weird decisions like how you can change the keyboard scale but the drone notes dont seem to follow it, etc. But honestly seems like a good value for money.
If this would have followed the recent pricing trend of apps pushing $20 or more… Then no way.

I’ll probably buy it more as a donation to the dev to see where he goes with it.

But yea, for most of the hard core nerds here, it would be better to use something like iM1 (or Rob’s Mood apps, etc + FX in AUM or Drambo)… But we’re the minority.

  • Cool I just joined the beta, getting started!

  • It seems every time I try a synth with the "drone" label its a letdown. Whether on ios or desktop, and as Seawind mentions. I always get better results making something in VCV rack or similar. Although I have tried a couple of hardware instruments like the Lyra 8, Elmyra, Sonicware's Ambient 0 that work well.

Kinda coming to the same conclusion. Torn. Only $4, but will I even use it much?

I liked his original Drone Lab. Would rather have that one as an AUv3

Not feeling the “dream” claims of this “Pro” version yet

  • The video doesn't show how I can quickly change/define my own scales - can I?
Choosing a scale from a preset list is so unintuitive ;)

Yes - main thing this app has going for it is a good name!
