Great! @brambos Would you consider doing the same for the xy-pads in Fluss?
I wouldn't mind buying a new Midi suite with kinetic modulators and maybe some MPE-tools either:)
that was indeed a limitation. Filterbanks were thought to be set once to form a sound, and left in that state. Maybe one adjustment here and there while playing, but you couldn’t move several knobs at the same time. However, this has changed. As mentioned before in this thread, Erica Synths made an Eurorack module with 10 computer- and CV-controlled filters (which can be expanded with my Lemur template, including physics). Also, Buchla make the 296 and 296e, which both can be controlled by CV. The same with Fumana by Frap Tools. In software, the 296e was copied/licensed by Softube, and there is also a replica in VCV (not for free).
For me it was quite revealing what you’ve created. There are a couple of similarities between Skulptur and the Resonant Filterbank Lemur template made two weeks ago, for example the horizontal slider for tension. And yes, both graphical interfaces don’t look sexy.

CC output for Skulptur? Of course. These moving faders, or stored values, can be used for many other purposes. That is also the idea behind my Lemur template. It is made for a filterbank module, but can also be a preset bank, a multi LFO, etc.
Interesting. Obviously, any similarities are pure coincidence as I'm not aware of your Lemur template and we've been working on Skulptur for several months already. In fact, the kinetic slider concept with the horizontal friction bar was first introduced in Fluss.
Maybe , an envelope follower would also be nice …
That was one of the first things I though as I watched HB’s video… Considering the nature of his music, I can see what it wasn’t obvious… But being able to set up a bi-polar envelope follower per band would really do some interesting stuff to the sounds coming out of Ruismaker, Hammerhead, etc.
Yes, I’m aware you could do this in Drambo…
pure coincidence. I’ve also been working for longer time on this template. The first version was with TouchOSC some months ago, without physics of course. It is indeed interesting, how similar things (hardware Eurorack module, its controller, and your software) appear around the same time.
Skulptur is very advanced in controlling the 10 bandpass filters. As I said earlier, I’m grateful for your work in two ways: to have such a great filterbank on iPadOS, and for your brilliant ideas that can be added to the Lemur template.
-- edit - misinterpreted your post - sorry - nothing to see here

The faders can take some getting used to but I for one has learnt to love them with Fluss (fantastic plugin, really!) and they really are brilliant with all you can do from flicking away and/or so easily setting min/max values. You deserve some extra credit for that superb function @brambos 😊
(To anyone who haven't got Fluss yet, you're missing something.) 😃
That would be awesome. I can see a lot of creative things to do with that, many thanks
Loving Skulptur, I was wondering if an overall dry/wet mix setting will be added, as wet amount shows up in the AU in ableton. Parts of it reminds me of Slink filter for max4live but it is a different thing of course.
I’ve built a bypass switch into my old Doepfer A-128 Filterbank module. A bypass switch for Skulptur wouldn’t be wrong I think. Helpful when you run the entire signal through it (insert instead of send). And yes, a mix knob would also make sense. But these things are not too important for me. I like Skulptur as it is.
Such things can be done inside the host application. In hardware, Eurorack, such things are quite relevant.
It seems the interest in this one has fallen off way faster than I had expected.
To those (like me) who like to play with weird soundtrack/soundscapey stuff… does this deliver $13 worth of late-night getting lost in sound fun?
Haha, there haven't been many comments today, maybe because it's just fairly easy to grasp and doesn't have bugs? Not sure it means ppl didn't like it, I dig it. Is it worth $13 to you, though? That, only you can decide.
I use it a lot, but as @Gavinski said, it may be that it's easy to grasp and just works as expected. I find it's well worth the 13$ !
I guess what I’m asking… is it fun 🤩 and $13 useful for strictly sound mangling/experimental/weirdness? Or, is this more a tool for music and performance stuff?
Did u watch any vids? I have 2 up on it already. They'd help you decide
for me, a controllable filterbank is somewhat the holy grail of sound engineering. Like automation in a DAW - another holy grail. Before, one had to ask friends to turn this knob, to lift this fader, at exact this moment, indicated by the time display or counter. And then turn the knob back to its original position at the next time. Automation was possible, but you needed many hands.
So for me I don’t think twice. Such things I simply must have.
A comparison:
Erica Synths Graphic Resonant Filterbank 320 Euro. Expander 100 Euro.

Frap Tools Fumana 850 Euro.

Buchla 296e Spectral Processor 3399 US Dollar

The latter two have more options, more bands. The 200e system provides patch storage. But, they are not computer controlled. The first one is computer controlled.
Yes it’s fun. Yes it’s worth $13. Yes it’s for music and performance lol.
It’s a fixed filterbank with top quality filters and awesome modulation. Unique on iOS and very cool IMO. Will be using this a lot.
I feel like it depends in parts on the quantity of the friction that is set. With more friction, it becomes more hands on performance while with the friction removed, its becomes a way to just create movement in whatever audio input you have. But I think it's a lot of fun and interesting. It enables me to very quickly get interesting sound textures and dynamics.
also, compared to an EQ that lowers a part of the spectrum by 12dB or 18dB, you can get completely rid of a frequency band with a filterbank.
What is also interesting is to set all bands to zero. Brambos provided a ‘min’ button for this. Then try single bands. Load a radio plugin into AUM or other DAW and switch to a boring news report, and play with the frequency bands. Instant Cabaret Voltaire sound.
Only looked at the shorter one you did… kinda moved around too much and couldn’t get a good handle on it. Did not find it particularly helpful. Will check out the other longer one you did later when I’m back home
Ok… thanks for all the replies. That’s what I was looking for. Maybe pick it up tonight
Great post 👍
This app is an essential piece of the music making puzzle on iOS.
I still haven’t purchased this app yet. Not to get political, but I’m a bit skittish about any purchases right now due to trade war, tariffs, economic instability, etc.
Kinda waiting to see how bad it might get before spending on anything non-essential for the time being.
That said, although all the demo videos for this app are good… they mostly use more complex sounds that was making it hard for me to hear exactly what level of sound sculpting you can get with this app.
However, I just stumbled on this demo video that is exactly what I was looking for. Starts with a basic, boring drone tone, then proceeds to use every control within the app to sculpt it into something new. It’s only 6mins long, and sold me on this app. I’ll likely buy this one in the not too distant future… if there’s not major economic collapse soon,
Here’s the demo video that sold me on this app:
My fav type of demo- thx!
Mine too
Skulptur now on my shortlist as a direct result of this demo
I like the 4ms SMR, or in VCV rack: Prism Rainbow.
I vaguely remember someone asking @brambos about Skulptur having midi in/out. I don’t recall the details, but the dev replied somewhat warm to the idea. Is that possibility still being considered?
I have it working. Will be in the next update!
