Any connection?

Hahahaha. The name is just the German version of 'Dialect' (though I think the stress should be on the last syllable, whereas I put it on the first, ho hum lol) but I like that Daleks association 😜
No clue about the price! Did drum computer have an intro price? What was it? I can't remember tbh
I'm guessing £25.
Hmmm, not sure about the Drum Computer intro price if there was any. But, all we can do is to wait and see.
I for one am excited to make a couple tracks or an EP in Dialekt. Will be a fun exercise in creativity.
Wow!
This one looks like a perfect cousin to Drambo. From the video it seems pretty straight forward.
I’m definitely picking this up and will let you know @jwmmakerofmusic how it compares to Drambo and GR2.
FWIW, for pure sample based workflow Drambo is the better solution when compared to GR2. I find GR2 a little too cumbersome to use and get into a flow state.
Thanks mate for being the "test subject" for this experiment, hehe. 😉
It's rather the opposite for me personally, but our mileage will vary of course, lol.
First impression is that Dialekt is more digital-sounding out of the box (same as Drum Computer), whereas Battalion is more organic/experimental/lo-fi.
Many similarities as well, @Gavinski. One notable difference is that the 8 tracks in Battalion can be configured however you like, but in Dialekt this seems to be fixed (only one Slicer track, for instance) - although many of the track types seem to have some overlap in their engine selection.
Another first impression is that Battalion has these automation lanes where you draw. Dialekt is very hands on with its p-locks, which can be for steps, patterns, or parts.
The song creation feature in D can be compared with the Playbeat 4 AI features.
GR2 is a phenomenal app. I just can’t find my mojo with it as of yet. I know Drambo like the back of my hand so adapting to a new Step Sequencer is always a tough sell on me. I have my routine set across iPad, desktop and hardware to insure i can fluidly move between my gear and make the kind of music i like to make.
Dialekt looks like it will hit all the sweet spots i value…but we’ll see. First track that emerges will be the true indicator.
I'm the same way. Took me 1-2 months to set my routine with Cubasis 3, because my gut feeling told me Blip would sunset Nanostudio 2 sooner or later. So yeah, takes time to learn a new workflow, lol.
Fingers crossed. 🤞
Ah, I haven't spent enough time with Battalion then, cheers!
And yes - pity that the track architecture is fixed in Dialekt, even tho there is a fair bit of overlap in the synth engines available on the tracks. I did mention this to SB some time ago, and they wish it was more flexible too, but it wasn't possible to make it so, apparently
I just downloaded the demo version again and it has been fixed.
whelp...this sucks. Looks like the instrument Tracks are fixed in Dialekt. You can only have one Sample Slicer Track per instance of the plug-in
Or am I missing something @Gavinski
I want 8 Sampler/Slice Tracks
Gonna let them know on IG that this is a huge request. Not gonna buy it because of this limitation.
Drambo is still King then
That's kind of an odd choice, but maybe Sugar Bytes will be open to feature requests.
Yep. Pinged them on IG:

forcing the Track Type as fixed is a DOA decision iMHO for users

I mean, let me choose what type of TRACK INSTRUMENT I want...not jus the Synth Type

I mean they literally call the SLICE instrument a SYNTH, but they've omitted the Drop Down to change the SYNTH TYPE on the Slice????

Why? This is just a weird decision....SMH....
Yeah I also told them I thought it was a pity. They would also prefer it not fixed, I think there was some technical obstacle. Let them know it's a big issue for you, who knows, maybe they can put the work in to change that, I doubt it tho as I think they'd have done it the way you want if they could have
I can't understand what the technical obstacle would be. It's software with almost unlimited overhead Memory Wise...
This would be like Korg Gadget being fixed to Track/Instrument type.
They need to fix this if they want more users...but that of course IMHO.
I hit them up on IG so we'll see where that goes. I'll fire off an email as well.
I was so looking forward to a fresh take on the Sequencer that is Sample/Slice based.
I guess GR-2 and Drambo will continue to hold this Space as the Apps to surpass...
email sent as well:

I also pinged Drambo dev if anyone wants to follow that:

@Edward_Alexander
I’ve still not had time to watch your video @Gavinski but I’ve just been reading some initial announcements/reviews about the desktop version. They say that the sampler is only available in the standalone version, implying it’s not in the plug-in version. Is that the same with iOS: sampler only available when in standalone mode?
Recording into the sampler via mic is only available in the standalone iPad/iPhone versions. All versions, and standalone or plugin, can resample Dialekt’s output, all versions can load samples from files. Pity yes that it cannot be loaded in an FX slot in AUM to record input directly from other plugins. I did of course suggest this but it was not added. Request it maybe
I couldn't find any way to trim or edit the recorded sample prior to saving it in case just a smaller portion is needed...
...things like these really put me off. No doubt it'll gets its fanbois but I'll not be one of them...
Remember Skram?

Request it
Ah, shame, but that’s not as bad as it could be at least. Thanks for clarifying @Gavinski.
Nope, things like these should have been sorted out during the initial project planning and pre/beta-stage.
(I won't waste more time on this app).
long-term groove-box addict here, looking forward to playing with this once it laucnhes on iOS
and congrats @Gavinski on the work with Sugar Bytes
also, is this the first iOS release from Sugar Bytes since DrumComputer (Nov 2020)?
I was sad that Effectrix 2 never got an iOS port, very happy to see SB hasn't abandoned the platform. I load a SB app almost every time I make music on my iPad
Played with the Demo.
It's cool and fun...but being limited to the predefined Instruments per Tracks is very unfortunate. I really want to use 8 Slice Tracks, or 4 Slice Tracks, 3 Chord Tracks, and 1 Percussion Track and organize my Tracks how I want to...but you are locked in to the Track and what type of instrumentation/sound it supports.
I don't like be locked into a Box when I am creating, so I won't be buying the app until this limitation is removed. Like I said before 8 Tracks is fine. But let me choose what those 8 Tracks are going to be for my Groove.
Please Free your Tracks @sugarbytes please
