We Got a New Arts & Crafts Section!

Here it is! I requested the mods create this new section for all non-musical visual arts creations! That means all your paintings, drawings, sculptures, woodworking, welding, photography, etc, can be posted here in this section. And they have generously let us have this section for any sort of visual art we create. :)

Thing is, there are so many wonderful works posted in my "What visual art do you create? Is it good?" thread...

https://forum.loopypro.com/discussion/64768/what-visual-art-do-you-create-is-it-good#latest

...that they tend to get swallowed up. Now we have a structured way to post our art! 🥳 Cheers and all the best!

Edit: Knitting, crocheting, etc, are also welcome. (My brain is slow this morning, lol.)

Hehe, lol. I love that you use my "baller af" phrase. 😂 Cheers mate.

  • Cool. Looking forward to the new gallery of works. :)

  • @jwmmakerofmusic Nice! You've got talent.

  • @NeuM Same! From everyone here. ❤️

@Pierre118 Aw, thank you kindly. ☺️

This is good, there are a couple of art threads through time, including the one Jim started recently. I tried to find them but can't recall title/s. Never mind.

Ink on glass, a couple of drops of isopropanol. The glass came from a scanner I wanted to see "how does this look on the inside?"

    edit: spelling err

This is extremely beautiful! 🤩 It deserves its own thread in this new subsection. ☺️

I think I misunderstood the whole idea but this is more like when you're posting one of your songs, right. You start a new thread with a title. First I though it would be a mashup of all art threads but I get it now.

Oh, and thank you. Yeah that was pretty fun and very experimental.

  • It is indeed a great idea. It’s all good - making it, looking at it, holding it, hearing about it, talking about it, thinking about it, sharing the secrets, experimenting with it, planning it, trial and error, magnificence….
Not saying I’ll be glued to it all - but I do love arts and crafts. I’ve had the odd go with acrylic paints & abstract art. I also had a real failure with a whacky ill conceived art experiment with latex balloons, Vaseline, matchsticks and contact adhesive….. possibly a story for another time 😃

If anyone finds any Art & Crafts related posts or threads from the past just let me know and I’ll move them to the new sub category 😊
Just flag them or something and ask for them to be moved.

Exactly. Like posting songs, but for non-musical arts. ☺️

    You bet! 😃

@robosardine Now you got me hella curious in this story! Tell it in this thread, mate.

@thesoundtestroom Good man. You and the other mods are fantastic for making this subsection a reality, ☺️

  • @jwmmakerofmusic - ok 😀 I had it in my head that I could inflate a balloon then smother it in Vaseline, or anything of the like. Next.. bit by bit I would then attempt to cover the surface area of the balloon with matchsticks arranged irregularly and sprayed with contact adhesive. The idea was that the adhesive would not stick to the balloon because of the Vaseline - I could then cover the entire balloon - let it dry - then gently let the air out of the balloon leaving a magical piece of art - matchsticks joined together in the shape of a balloon somehow all supporting one another in perfect shape.
It was a complete failure despite many attempts. The funniest effort involved trying WD40 (spray oil) instead of Vaseline - the chemical reaction burst the balloon in a matter of seconds 😅 I gave up shortly after….

Holy shit, mate. 😂 Well, the good news is you at least gave it your best shot.

That is a fun idea, I wonder if it would work with papier-mâché instead of matchsticks, or as a base for the latter. Thanks for sharing anyway 😃

  • Thats a belter @Pxlhg 👍

  • Cool. Love the idea.

  • @robosardine I'm currently drunk and high, so gonna tell you something. You should've taken the pieces of the failed experiment, arranged them in a meaningful fashion, and called it something like "I Tried". 🤷‍♂️ It could've still worked as Modern Art as it had a good fascinating story behind it.

And if you didn't think it qualified, there was an artist who tape a banana to a wall. Interesting concept, but Modern Art isn't just about being unique or making a statement. It's about the creative process, whether as simple as using a finger to paint in Artrage, or as complex as what you did. Art isn't just about the end product like it once was in the Renaissance era. I love a good piece of art with an interesting story/process behind it.

If your experiment failed, just arrange the broken pieces, type out your story, and you end up with art anyways. 😂

@Poppadocrock Me too mate. Me too, It's why I petitioned the mods for this section. If you do any art and/or crafts, post your own thread in this section to show off! Don't be shy. 😂

Thanks Tony (I just learned "all" about broch structures, after checking in on the photos (nice ones). Very interesting stuff.)

It’s a good shout. It’s gone though. However I have some plans for a new original artwork which will be made from matches and glue for around November (as was the last one). My local art gallery has a competition to enter your own work - so I am planning to try a different route. If I do it I’ll post it up here. This one should work… I think 😃
