Mini guitar amps with audio interface

Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommendations on a mini guitar amp that has a built-in audio interface to record direct to GarageBand iOS. The Positive Grid Spark GO is one option, but do you know of anything similar? I want something small and portable but the audio interface is a must.

  • The SoniCake Pocket Master (https://a.co/d/gDJtWHs) isn't bad either. Some feel the latency is a bit high, but I'm OK with it if it's going direct to the DAW and I monitor through the iPad, not looping back to the interface.

Thanks! Looks like a contender. I prefer something with a built-in speaker but I like the form factor and features the Pocket Master offers.

  • You mention that you want it for recording into GarageBand. I find I'm a lot happier with a simple no-amp guitar interface and using AUv3 plugins to do the amp simulating. The quality is higher, and since you can record "dry" and adjust the FX later, there's more flexibility.

The Pocket Master has acceptable quality, but it's no match for software amp sims in terms of quality of sound and responsiveness. I like the Pocket Master as a no-fuss, no-setup practice tool, but I wouldn't use it myself for recording.

  • Just beware that the Spark Mini has significant latency on the aux input as they run it through their DSP.
Might not effect your use case but would be no good if you wanted to also play any instruments inn GarageBand in real time.

  • Yea I mostly make high gain industrial stuff but I dabble in some lower gain/clean stuff too, but yea NAMXT+tone3000+good IRs is mind blowing just directly into the interface, also gigfast, Nembrini stuff, Tonex all sound great! I don’t have any hardware anymore other than a wah pedal.

There is also the Yamaha THR series, THR5, THR10 II and THR30 II with built in audio interface.

@steve99 posted some very interesting comments and pictures (page 1) of his iPhone/ipad setup with his Yamaha THR in this discussion: https://forum.loopypro.com/discussion/51653/yamaha-thr-vox-adio-air-blackstar-id-core-quality-vs-ios-amp-sims-nembrini

  • Is the Vox Adio air suitable for use with iPad?

I don't have it, but I think Neural DSP Nano Cortex might do this.

"Using the Nano Cortex as an Audio Interface
You can use the Nano Cortex as an audio interface for your Mac, your Windows PC, or with an iPhone, an iPad, or an Android device for recording with a DAW. Connect a USB-C data cable to your computer or your device. Use an adapter, if necessary."

For a portable speaker you can't do any better than this that I know of presently, but you will have to find one used.
