Thanks for taking the time to listen and to comment ♥
The rhythms are wild and the experimental synth sounds are trippy. Some nice textures and timbres in there.
Thanks for taking such a close listen! As you know I often like to modulate between modes within a song, and using power chords in the chorus section helps to keep the ambiguity because of the missing third. I don't think I planned the harmony quite as deliberately as your description, but I did consciously change modes between verse and chorus.
A peaceful and evocative walk around the major scale. Very chill. ❄
Oh thanks man. Yeah no I thought you guys were kinda taking a poke at me (because it’s just I got that 8 string literally yesterday morning and thought you knew because it was the timing, and I just passed on the same guy who offered me that or his 9 string, and I said the 9 string was just too much man lol - imagine an 8 string is what a standard bass is tuned to, so a 9 string is like a 5 string bass on top of a guitar….too much, 8 is already too much, but I enjoy it sometimes for downtuned metal)
Actualy John that’s what I’m doing. I hung up the electronic stuff for quite a few months now, and devoted myself back to just analog/guitar writing. Working on my first couple of tracks atm, and it’s basically all guitar, bass, tabla, piano and vocals besides my one shot!; and just some ambient layers of synths or backup layers, but no synth leads anymore
I finally got a tube amp after 25 years of playing guitar and it totally changed my POV on composition now because I am able to finally sculpt the tones I had wanted to myself rather than relying on someone else’s presets that I’ve always struggled with adjusting to my own needs .
Anyway all that said to say, thanks, I’ll be doing just that lol
I literally had no idea you'd got a new guitar!
Resurrecting this month's SOTMC thread, which seems a bit dead, with my submission 😅️
I really like the verses - they set a great vibe, and that pre-chorus melody is super catchy. Killer guitar riff, sounds amazing. A top notch production as usual, perfect vocals and mix.
I agree, it's a very "Richard Yot"-esque song, in a good way
The piano part is nicely hypnotic, and I love the contrast between the soft piano and the edgy synth patch. The arp-like patch then brings the movement and energy - all those musical elements interlock in surprising and very inventive ways to create a very effective piece that constantly surprised me as it unfolded.
A beautifully calm and meditative track that gently carries you along.
The soothing textures and steady atmosphere feel instantly familiar, in the best way.
Another serene piece that fits seamlessly into your tranquil soundscape.
Sounds great, the production is spot on. I like the main chord motif, which is surprisingly 'hooky', and it builds really nicely, The cello adds a nice organic and gritty layer to the synths and the percussion/drums are really nicely judged too.
It reminds me of Jon Hopkins/Rival Consoles.
I really like the main theme/idea! I feel like the first and the very last part are a bit too much into effects and I maybe have added another layer to complement the main idea. Good job!
Yeah I got carried away a little lol but thank you man haha
Your piece was atmospheric, i felt like you went more on the ambient side of things , and I liked the lo fi type of sound especially as it closes…very cool
Really, there is not much to say, just a great song from two of my favourite artists here on LPF
Having listened to this track since from the very beginning and with and without lyrics I'd say it really changed thru his journey. It was already interesting when it started and Jankun added another layer of "interestingness" with the vocals
Thanks!
Perhaps I will upload the instrumental version too one day.
@richardyot
Dreamy with some excellent guitar work. Feels like a song you might hear from the stage as you enter The Bang Bang Bar in Lynch’s Twin Peaks. It hangs in the air and seems to permeate the room. And while people seem to be talking, you only hear the song and its mournful lyrics.
@klownshed
Deep and atmospheric. Full of surprises. Lost in a dream with the radio locked onto this song. Pointing to a way out or maybe a map of the dream’s landscape? The Beatles as seen through a dark, distant mirror. Oh, yeah, I really like it.
@yellow_eyez
A cool song that’s constantly dissembling and reassembling itself. It’s a meta-song in the sense that it’s as much about how to build and rebuild a song, as it is about the song itself. Echoes of Alice in Wonderland.
@unlink
Love how it builds gradually into an atmospheric soundscape. Nice balance of ethereal and metallic sounds. Scurrying sounds and a percussive beat drive it forward. It’s an intriguing song that I could easily melt into -- and mentally explore -- over and over again.
@DavidEnglish thank you man. I mean that descriptive summary is really what my intent was man….so glad you caught the vibe dude
Great work by all the creators 👍
Loved the guitar riff in yours @richardyot + the song as a whole and very glad you posted your late entry @unlink 🙏
Thank you very much Tony 🙏
Thanks for listening, glad you liked it ❤️
