"What I Want" | JanKun + Meester Smeeeth
What I Want (⅒ ¾ ½)
Meester Smeeeth + JanKun.
Music by MS + JK, lyrics and vocals by JK.
Lyrics:
In the end I get what I want
You can beg
You can kneel
You can try to stop me if you will
This is where you really belong
Wallowing in the mud
With your own kind
Feeding from the dung
Now learn to swim
I get what I want
I get what I need
I get what I want
No matter if you bleed
In the end I get what I want
You may starve
You may freeze
You can try to change this come on ! please !
This is where you really belong
Here's the ditch where you really belong
Here's the shithole where you belong
In the end I get what I want
You may die
You may live
You can try to stop us if you will
This is where you really belong
Wallowing in the mud
With your fucking kind
Feeding from the dung
Now learn to swim

Cool stuff man, reminds me of The Young Gods.
Lovely brooding vibe, and great arrangement and flow. Great angsty vocal too 😎
Dude! I don't know what this is but I have never listened to anything on here, on repeat, I've been on for exact 5 years now, in June so ... do with that what you want.🤘🏻 I want another listen. I hope you have some good promo for this one, it should be heard.
Scary good! Definitely getting Trent Reznor, NiN vibes. Great piece.
Thanks for listening; I’ve not listened to the Young Gods in a long time. I should refresh my memory!
Me either, but your track made me remember!
I also posted this in the SOTMC, which is well worth checking out, there are some talented folk that post there and it's a great place to post to get valuable feedback on your tracks.
Thanks. Yeah the vocals are great. They added a lot and transformed the original instrumental along with the guitars. @JanKun did a great job
This is fantastic! Really.
Multiple replays already.
Thank you, that’s inspiring feedback. I’m afraid I have no promo — I don’t know how to get heard amongst the millions of songs posted online every week!
Yeah that's the hard part. I have unfortunately (for you, not for me) a very small group of family and friends on FB and insta. But, at least I can share it. Done! (FB)
Well done @JanKun shines.
Well done, gentlemen. I enjoy the NIN influences as well.
Thank you! I’m certainly not going to complain that you’re getting NiN vibes!
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it enough to actually want to listen to it more than once! That makes me feel really good! :-)
You guys are a talented combo! If you were able to perform a set of this stuff live, together, in small venues, I bet people would love it and there'd be a real chance of things taking off for you both.
I’ll get my coat.
Thank you! That would be awesome. I’d love to meet JanKun in person, let alone play music together — there’s only 6,000 miles between us stopping that happening. (And a restraining order. But we don’t talk about that.
)
I’ve missed playing live in small venues (I’ve never played a big one!) — I think my last gig was 15 years ago now.
This track is just 🔥
Fantastic track guys. The power of collab!
Damn! Agree with the NiN / Reznor vibes. Really enjoyed this. 🤘🏽
🔥 So much energy, so much power! 🔥🤩

Thank you! I always thoroughly enjoy the collabs :-)
Thanks for listening!
Thanks for listening!
Thank you @klownshed for inviting me to work on this. This time it truly felt like a songwriting collaborative effort in the sense the advanced track you sent me inspired me vocals / lyrics, many guitar parts and even an additional chorus (can we really call it a chorus?). Of all our collabs to date (we got quite a few already!!!), I really feel you outdone yourself on the mix too. It sounds terrific ! Thanks again John!
It is nice to see all the nice response too. I should take the time to reply to all of you one on one, but John already did it, so BIG THANKS for the listens and feedbacks @Slush @richardyot @Pxlhg @reezygle @JeffChasteen @LinearLineman @Blipsford_Baubie @Gavinski @unlink @cuscolima @offbrands @Luxthor
And I wanted to give a special thanks to @ArteraDSP for bringing NAM captures to iOS. first time using NAM for my guitar sounds and certainly not the last! Can't wait for your RAT, and hoping for a good fuzz/muff too !
No, no, no, thank you :-)
I really enjoyed working on this one, as usual. I enjoy the collaborations tremendously. You added a lot to the track and transformed it into a cracking song.
Thanks for the kind words about the mix; I'm glad you liked it. I hope it wasn't a fluke, I look forward to mixing the next one!
Sorry! I missed your post!
Thanks for listening — I’m made up with the NIN references. I didn’t set out to sound like NIN but they’ve been one of my favourites since Pretty Hate Machine so it’s not surprising the influences come through.
My biggest influence is probably Depeche Mode but I’ve obviously failed to channel them quite as well :-)
Hey, no problem. We never even sent Thank You cards to our wedding guests 10 years ago 😬
