Oh this looks awesome. Love everything I’ve used from Audio Modeling but don’t have anything flute related standalone outside of GeoSWAM
Very cool! 😎 the price is good too, can’t wait!
How does this relate to SWAM Flutes and Woodwinds? Does it implement a subset of their functionality or is it something else altogether?
From their official site: “VariFlute is built using the same modeling excellence as our professional SWAM Flutes — just with a fresh, experimental twist.”
AM hinted at some world instruments a while back. Looks like this will scratch some of that itch.
Sorry if I'm a bit out of line but everyone should have Jubal Flute, it's old but damn it's good and AuV3.
Oh this looks dooope
Always exciting to see what the AM crew is cooking fresh!
Now, off to obsessively refresh their product page until it appears
And try to quell my brains constant hypothesizing of what'll be in the next release (spoiler, I was nowhere close with this one)
I always see it, think about grabbing it, see how long it’s been since an update, and decide against it
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it
Yeah it's a bit of a petty but, "if it's not broken ...", never had an issue with it.
Anyway, it says this one will be 9.99 which sounds good enough from the otherwise vastly overpriced and too stupid approach (e.g trumpets in B or F are different products and cost a fortune each) for Audio Modelings line of apps.
I have yet to buy anything from this company, even when they have their sales it's too much, but I will buy this if it really is 9.99
Right!
No sorries! I had never heard of this app or dev before so thanks for bringing it up. The store demo sounds decent enough, but I’m more curious about their other app Sensual Sax and what that big SEX knob in the center does haha!
That particular saxophone app is a sampled instrument and has nothing to do with Audio Modeling. I've used it on quite a few projects. Not as flexible as the GeoShred sax app, but it can be used to produce very consistent results.
Still waiting for Apple?
I know I am....
Come on Apple, I want this one!
Thanks! It's not clear to me what exactly that means, but I'm OK with "experimental"
You know, to make a Frankenstein flute, annoy your wife, and move away from the daily grim news, at least for a few hours. 🤦♂️😅
this looks very interesting. For me it is just the wrong company who created an editable physical modeling flute. Stephano Lucato from Audio Modeling used to work for Samplemodeling, the original inventors of morphing sample layers after MIDI note-on. He left Samplemodeling to found his own company, but taking with him some knowledge. The Samplemodeling technology is patented, but they refused to sue Audio Modeling. And to be fair, the SWAM engine is invented by Lucato, and it probably would have been an ugly and lengthy juristical fight that costs a lot of money for both sides. Therefore the Audio Modeling company is on my black list. I do own Audio Modeling instruments that were ported from the Samplemodeling company, but I wouldn’t had bought these instruments if they had been licensed under the new company, Audio Modeling.
This is just to explain why I boycott Audio Modeling. I’m certainly not interested in a discussion about this matter in public. It is many years since this split, the dust has settled, and I think today everybody is happy now. Both companies still exist.
About physical modeling flutes or other wind instruments, there is already a very good app available: Respiro. It is free with few instruments, but no editing. For this, one has to purchase a license for PC/Mac, and send the personalised instrument patches to the iOS app. Respiro has lots of parameters with MIDI control/morphing. You can go from reed to metal if you want, etc. Respiro has very good reed sounds, and these are the ones I’m particularly after. To my knowledge the best software to emulate traditional instruments like exotic flutes from Azerbaijan, for example.
Finally, after this excursion into off topic, for which I apoligise, I wish Audio Modeling all the best, and I’m quite certain that this app will be a great success. Rather low pricing as well.
Glad to hear the inventor of the technology Audio Modeling uses is the owner of Audio Modeling. I wish them all the best as well. I’m very excited about this product!
I imagine if this one is a "hit" for them they could make a "VariStrings", "VariBrass", "VariPercussion" or even a "VariDrumKit"?
VariCool 😎
Excellent
The launch announcement does say this is the first release of a new 'discovery' series. Suggests they will do this with more (all?) of their instrument engines (which haven't include percussion yet).
This $39 bundle price cannot be legitimate, right?

No way it is legitimate, eg it also has Arturia V collection 11 for $49 and other major music production programs for about a 10th of the official price.
It is likely to be unofficial clones of an original purchase as they say the downloads are pre-activated.
Might well work but not be able to have software updates.
Cheap second hand MacBook sellers on eBay quite often include hundreds/thousands of dollars worth of software pre loaded.
has anyone tried these flute auv3's?
i'm familiar with Jubal flutes, but @Jadestar makes these 1.99 AU's sound nice
Yes, the Kong Audio apps are sensational. Just very small sample sets afaik but through some sorcery they sound properly expressive - and even better, feel properly expressive played with a wind controller. And crazy cheap.
Standalone apps flip your screen. Just a weird quirk. And they don't do background audio very well.
