Just something small for a beginner, considering that I am also into the groove pads....what about a Novation Lunchkey 25?
Can someone give any feedback on the iRig Keys? In particular the iRig Keys Pro? Looks like a very workable solution all around.
Did I mention QuNexus? Man I love that thing!
I just started using my Carbon 49 yesterday and it has great action and will run for hours off the ipad battery. It is extremely light for 49 keys and the slider and data knob work as controlers for all of my apps that have midi learn. I love this thing and the price could not be beat!
Going for shopping tomorrow, more confused than ever:
original idea Novation Lauchkey 25 & Launchpad Mini, since I will use mainly with iOS (iPad Air and Mini) and I m into DrumPads, effects and so on....apparently, reading around, these Novation things are more "toys" at this stage (it d not be bad since I m learning).
Akai MPK Mini, similar to the Launchkey 25, but with less pads.
Arturia Minilab
...last two seems best option, just I m not sure about level of "expertise" needed, so far most user friendly seems Novation.
Going to the shop, I ll try them, and I ll put myself in the hand of the shop assistant.....but first I d like some experiences from you.

Do you still have the behringer? Are you saying that it won't work battery powered without a PSU?
I have the UMA25S and can confirm that it needs an external PSU. I find the key action rather odd, but it can be adapted to.

OK thanks for letting me know. No good to me. Really surprising. It would have been a good 'all in one' if it did.
Yes. It's was an annoying discovery. I don't really see the point of the batteries.
I'm really not a fan of midi controllers...usually just cheap devices with poor keybeds. I am quite pleased with my Novation X-Station as an iPad controller tho. Good keybed, tons of knobs and faders to map to, joystick and XY pad as well (tho the pad is a bit of a joke and I rarely use it), can be battery powered if you're on the go, doubles as an audio and midi interface as well...and you've got a capable VA synth built in as well.
