    Wow. Congrats! What a release.

Link or it didn't happen: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/guitarcapo+/id765105890?mt=8

PS. I don't own this app because I'm quite happy with Guitarism for my occasional virtual guitar needs. Going to buy the update because a) amazing set of new features and b) you lead the app store description with "One of the best sounding guitar apps around" instead of some inane hyperbolic drivel. Winning.

  • Great app, thanks for the updates.

  • @tonappas, This is an amazing update.

  • This is a great update. GuitarCapo and Guitarism are the top two Guitar apps in my opinion.

  • Awesome! Fixed the orientation as well.. Thanksgiving so much!

  • Thank you all for kind words, much appreciated!

  • @tonappas are there a way to match the strumming to a fixed bpm? Or it it just "slide 'till it sounds right"?

  • Really cool now we just need to be able to attach a finger picking pattern to each pad :)

  • @jakersjaw and @biancaneve, both are on the list. MIDI learn is too, but there is no schedule yet :)

  • @tonappas, great news. Looking forward to that :)

  • Ok so the White keys from midi 60 (c3 or c4 depending on the app) activate each chord strum up and down.

Remind me what the black keys do please.

They spread the message of rock and roll.

The user manual will be updated with this, but until then...

    The black keys can change:

    c#3/d#3 chord bank up/down

    f#3 - bass on/off

    g#3 - 12-string on/off

a#3 - stop notes and strums

    c#4/d#4 - capo up/down

    c#5/d#5 - midi out channel up/down

The sliders is on the future list

    Cheers

  • @tonappas not a request but something I've run across frequently with old organs and casios (with chord sections) that works really well for basic chords: lowest note you touch is the root and plays a major chord by itself. If you keep that held down, you can add notes anywhere above it like this: second finger==minor chord, third finger ==7th, fourth finger == minor 7th. Again, the lowest note sets the key and fingers 2-4 can be any keys above the root note.

It may sound kind of weird but in practice after about 3 minutes it's as easy as an Autoharp but with 48 possible chords. With software, it would be easy (relative to organ hardware that is) to allow a user to set the chord types for 2-4. Harmonic minor or flat9, anyone?

Again, not really a request, I just dig that setup and like yacking about it. Current MIDI configuration looks great but if you see an old Casio or Baldwin style organ, try it out—it's pretty fun. Might be something as an optional configuration in the future or a consideration for one of those 'next apps' on your list of ideas.

  • Sounds interesting, but would have to try that on a real organ to completely understand and get the feel of it :)

  • I use to love the two finger chord option of the old casio.

  • Yes! I remember that button combination as well. Would make for a nice addition to a beautiful app.

  • Just purchased in the BF sale.

Looking forward to having a play when I get some time. Particularly as a midi out controller (perhaps for the guitar patches in Gadget).

I have absolutely zero knowledge about guitar playing or guitar chords. Hopefully this will turn me into Bert Jansch within a few hours. Otherwise I definitely want my money back :).

  • Maybe this could get you started, had a play with the app myself today that ended in a new demo with some explanation here and there. :)

  • Jon,wanna thank you for the updates you've made to this app.its come a long way in a very short time.

ppl, please show some App Store review luv for this dev....

  • Nice new video @tonappas.

    Sweet.

@tonappas The Fingerpicked video is awesome and shows what many developers should do, show how THEY use there apps MUSICALLY. I've got a (now) tiny iPhone 4s and have found Guitarcapo perfect for midi guitar. iFretless is great but takes too much room. Guitarism has no midi in (yet?) and picking is problematic.

I've resorted to using Xynthesizr to drive GuitarCapo and it works wonderfully! Thank you!

  • +1 for BPM matching.
Also, i'm really liking playing around with the custom chords and the auto strumming to make interesting arpeggios. Just wondering if it would be possible to change the original open string. Drop D would be useful, for example, but anything that would allow to go lower than the normal would be good. (Or higher, which would open up other possibilities?)

@Fitz There is a list, but without a schedule yet (both BPM and other tunings have been suggested). You can transpose +/- 3 octaves with a slider by opening the "Sound Selections". If you transpose down 1 octave and then move the capo up to 7th fret you should be able to make interesting custom chords :)

  • Thanks @tonappas. I think it would be easier to get what I'm after by using the string play instead of auto strum, but I keep stopping the sound. Could there be an option where the string always rings regardless of swipe or touch?
