Canon - Chord Composer is currently free usually $4.99

This thing is coming up with some really nice progressions. In only a short while I created multiple 8 chord progressions I really liked. Unfortunately the midi export and share function crashed the app. Has anyone else experienced this? I took screenshots so I can remember and replicate the chords in a host later on.

I’m still keeping this app for chord progression inspiration, but I hope the midi export/share gets fixed.

I like it too.. simple but functional interface.. but crashing as you said.. when trying to midi export or share..
I did a screen recording to capture the chord voicings too + maybe convert to midi that way.. 🤷‍♂️
I’m keeping it around for now..

Same. That’s a good idea. I took screen shots, and might use scaler, or chord bud or something to just put that same progression into a session. Hopefully that midi export gets fixed.

    Chordbot also has midi export

Yea I like Chordbot a lot and use it. The canon app was a bit simpler focused on just the chords. Thanks for the suggestion though, that would be a good place to reproduce this progression and export it. Cheers!

  • Moog sounds a bit to 80s for me, but if that’s your jam they’re great. I have all of them and use the fx more than the synths.

    Animoog is really cool though.

I don't have it, but the demos sounds fantastic on YouTube. Jakob did a great video about it.

It’s a fantastic sounding synth. Also rather CPU hungry, fair warning

  • Is that a good app?
I have more audio damage but end up not using them a lot for some reason.

It's great in some ways but it's a little bit 'clicky' on some inputs, it needs better crossfades. Same can be said for the Audio Damage loopers, Circa and Enso. Really bugs me that they can't seem to improve in this area, as I also like their apps in general.

Yeah, I still prefer version 2 which has far less problems with clicking...

Same here … I love their apps, but the clickiness can be annoying in their buffer-based apps.

    How is their analog delay?

They do some fantastic plugins but have the bad taste to release X versions for iOS i.e they are stripped down versions and I bet the motivation is the price on iOS is so "cheap" (my conclusion).

The main thing I think, tbh, is that the full versions use ambisonics. Is there an iOS DAW that can take advantage of that? AUM is just stereo, for example…

I like it, but I don’t use it as much as I did initially. If you were looking for a glitch, stutter, repeater app, it’s worth considering. If so, compare it to some other options, like glitchcore, Freezr, maybe the new Parrot (which I do not have) etc.. R3 is iPad only. I would watch a few vids, and check to see if you like it vs any alternatives and go from there…

Generally speaking, and I learned this lesson the hard way, be patient, assess your needs/wants, check for any overlap with what you own, compare alternatives, compare prices, then decide. I know sales can be short but keeping a running wish list really helps. I like to prioritize and categorize mine. Good luck, cheers.

I don't know if Logic or Cubasis can but if it's becoming important I'm sure it will be implemented and I'm equally sure those apps wont be updated when it does. One could still have played around with spatial, if it was there. Nothing wrong to build in functions that may have to wait to be fully workable than the other way around. Just my opinion.

I know what you mean, yes, but that would also cause problems - the ui for this app would have more 'dimensions' (above, below etc), and if these didn't work as expected, which they wouldn't, it would cause user frustration, complaints, refund requests, etc etc.
