This reminds me of an app from yesteryear but can’t find it or remember its name. May have disappeared. I’m sure Doug did a video on it back in the day. I found smashcut visual synth but recording is only by screen recorder and I don’t think it’s the app I’m thinking of.
    Edit: Might have been Touchviz.

    Vidibox?

    Yes you nailed it.

  • Just released a new version, I'm planning to release this version.

  • Pretty cool! Any chance of playback of clip audio? That would be awesome! 😎✌🏼

  • Couldn't help myself and added the MIDI support lmao check this out this is awesome 😂

  • Please can you tell me how to use the GarageBand and AUM midi out ? Thank you!

Any chance the video can be limited to the space outside the 4x4 grid.
Adjusting video speed changes loop end position.
FR: Autochop? Import 1 video spread across 4x4 grid?
    iPad9

The app is out! It's only $1.99 -- please leave a rating or review on the app store 🙏

  • Instabuy! Another excellent app! Thank you, @cem_olcay !!

  • Cool app but the playback of audio of the clips would make it so much more fun

The MIDI source (hardware or app) is listed on the BeatCut's settings menu. Just toggle the MIDI source and start sending MIDI notes to BeatCut from your source.

Have you found the settings in Beatcut? You have to enable the MIDI input at the bottom of the Settings panel. It should correspond with whatever you are sending as Output MIDI from your DAW.

  • Thanks but how to find it in a DAW? I have Beatmaker 3, GarageBand, Koala.. it’s not Auv3 so not sure what to do

I think its a standalone app, you don't connect it to a daw or host app but you can send midi from a daw a host app to Beatcut.

This is correct. You have to have both apps open and then send MIDI out from BM3, GB, Koala, etc to Beatcut.

Pretty cool idea Cem, I've been through the tutorial and had a quick play, maybe I missed something but I'm wondering 3 things:
Is there no zoom setting on pads?
Might it be useful to have some kind of settings randomiser to quickly randomize (semi intelligently perhaps) some pad settings?
Real pity that it doesn't offer an option to use audio from an imported clip, that's a handy workflow that is normal in similar apps, in my experience. Is there a reason why it doesn't have that feature?

Hey Gavin, glad you find the app interesting!
There's a scaling fx with fit, fill and stretch options in the edit menu.

I didn't want to include audio per-pad, tried to keep its focus on the video.
You can add a background track and jam over it like a drum machine (hence Beat/Cut  )

Never thought about the randomizer, it could be interesting. I'm adding more features to the settings menu like auto-cutting the clips into the pads. I think I can add a randomizer button as well.

  • Is there a MIDI control for start point at all? I quite like the per pad setup but it can be fun to modulate in points far more dynamically…

Great THNX Cem, I saw the scaling but I feel like ability to set a zoom in amount would be useful. About audio, I didn't mean per pad btw, I just mean the ability to have an option to use the audio from one of the imported vids

Audio per pad would be great fun as well though, that old coldcut thing was ace fun for that…

I can add an option to use the clip’s audio as the backing track. However, the audio will play in the background while the pads change the clip(s).

Alternatively, I need to sync both audio and video and mix the audio (in the correct position) to the recording. Can be enabled optionally per pad. Let me see what I can do..

Yes, playing in background was what I wanted. It would just save the step of having to separately extract audio if I want to use audio from an imported video clip

  • This seems like it’d be a bigger deal here than it is so far. I tried the beta when the invites first went out and found it a bit awkward to use.

However, I’ve seen several updates to the released version already and this dev appears still committed to it’s evolution.

I really love the idea of basically playing motion graphics to a track. I think I’ll go ahead and buy this one, for no other reason than to support its further evolution. I can see this eventually/possibly getting to a status of “must have” at a higher price point.

Would love to see a walkthrough tutorial on this though. Any good ones dropped yet?

    @ how cool

The BG audio is also very cool.

I agree. I think Cem is really onto something with this one. The workflow is easy and intuitive to me—and the results come almost instantly. My favorite new app of 2026!

  • Just pushed a new beta version. Now you can play the audio of your clips. It will play the chopped part, in the speed you set, and even reversed

At first it murdered the beautiful performance of the app as I expected because the video player was struggling syncing the both video and audio. Then I hacked my way around and stripped the audio from the video player (like it was before), put it into my own audio engine and voilà!

Both the background audio track and the clip’s audio are mixed together in the final recording. You can also toggle the clip audio per pad including the audio level in the edit menu.

Let me know if you are happy, I’ll push this version to the app store.

Just to be clear, if you don’t want the clips audio to play like it was before, can you toggle this new setting off per pad?

Yes, in fact it's off by default. When you are importing the video clip. you may "enable" the audio quickly, or toggle them per pad 👍
