Animoog, why cant I change timbres?
I can not seem to get the timbers to change and I know I used to!
Comments
Someone on FB asked about this recently. Here was part of the reply:
"To do it you must hold down the timbre you want to change then tap the one you want in it's place."
Apparently, Moog changed it and it's now a 2 finger operation.
Yes and a big thanks, now back to dowloading expansion packs!
Which is the best expansion pack? Are they on sale too?
I love the monstermoog and grateful dead packs i just got vintage synth and vintage fx,.not sure what is best but you can use the timbres from which ever packs u get to build new sounds.

Well, that's answered a question I hadn't been smart to ask. Many thanks.
Thanks @telecharge, I thought it was just broken. That does indeed work.
A question on the expansions:
It looks like the Model D expansion actually adds new timbres/sounds to Animoog, while something like the Richard Devine pack simply adds presets. Is this the case, and if so which packs actually offer new sounds? I'm not terribly interested in buying presets (I love you Richard, but I prefer making my own presets), but more raw materials to expand the synth are of interest.
When you click on each expansion a popup lists how many timbers and presets for the pack.
Vintage Vibe seems to be the best deal — 114 timbres. Any opinions on this pack?
Actually the Monster Moog pack has more timbres - 167.
Oh, and both MM and VV are good. Some timbres sound samey, but overall it's good. The GD pack doesn't offer the most timbres, but I think it is one of the most interesting packs. The timbres are all very different (as opposed to 23 different saw waves, 18 pulse waves, etc...). I tend to use VV and GD the most.

I think that is the number of presets according to the documentation. It says it just has 48 timbres.
I'm not sure which documentation you are looking at, but I am looking at the timbres that are loaded into my Animoog and it is a hell of a lot more than 48. I didn't count them all, but I'll go with what the Animoog stores says at 167. But as I noted above it has a whole lot of saw waves and square. Quantity isn't everything.
@Accent. The RD expansion definitely includes new timbres
I'm having trouble keeping the 4 track working. Every time I open the app it asks to register my copy...
Happening to anyone?
@Macao95 said:
If you don't register you can't use the 4 track.
If you registered you have to be online for it to work, there's a thread about it on the Moog forums. Update is supposed to be in the works but that was last year!
Wow. I just tried it. you're right. How dumb! I doubt I'll bother using the 4 track anyway, though.
Online only for the 4 track. I thought I noticed that the other day.
And if you buy in?
wtf..! Moog had fixed the need to be online for the 4track with 2.1.1 (June 2013) See version history in the AppStore.

How stupid to 'break' it again...

I don't know but i'm glad i didn't if it's the same.
Hi,
Anyone know what the Sunshine Audio 'Animation' presets are like for Animoog. Thinking of getting them. Do they have new timbres?
@Matt_Fletcher_2000 don't know if they still have a sample of there presets on there site anymore, but they used to, and also quite a few for other synths on iOS, as well and from what I remember they were really good. But even though I love AniMoog, it's only just starting to get back to a more stable state after a sequence of really terrible updates, if you love the sound of Animoog try adding your own timbres for extra fun, there just single cyclic waveforms. You can even make your own on the iPad.
Heck , I did not even know they existed actually. I am interested in hearing more about this.

Easily one of the worst designs I've seen, because when you scroll through the sounds in the section on the right to find one you like then go tap on the slot you want to put it in, the section on the right then shows where that sounds is rather than showing the new sound you want to put in.
And yeah, 4 track keeps asking me to register as well when offline.
As cool as Animoog is, they really half ass it with the updates.
Love the idea of the timbre waveforms in separate folders, but whoever designed the method of selecting them well.......arhhhhh, funnily the iPhone version last I checked was still the old method and no folders for the waveforms, iPad users must be the crash testers with this.
Has anyone else noticed this strange phenomenon with Animoog (both iPad and iPhone versions)?
If you send midi cc's to automate parameters they only work when you have Animoog in the foreground. As soon as you switch apps to be viewing something else, Animoog carries on playing notes but doesn't respond to the parameter cc automation anymore. Switch back to Animoog in the foreground and it immediately starts working again. Very strange.
I'm automating ccs with the new Pro Midi app, but i'm sure it's a fault with Animoog. Anyone tried similar in Cubasis or BM2?

I thought my previous experiments with iFunbox and Animoog had broken the app on my device beyond repair. I was quite surprised by this thread and finding out that this was actually the intentional design. It looks skeletal and incomplete to me. I'm thrilled to know that I can at least still make my own patches though. I took a sabbatical from Animoog and it's helped my appreciation for it.
@CalCutta said "I took a sabbatical from Animoog and it's helped my appreciation for it."
Yes so did I but mainly because of the sorrowful update situation, when I returned it was here's a new UI guess how it works, so I kept flicking between the help then UI, back and forth, pressing this, then that, and so on, then in frustration, I think all my digits where smearing the screen the timbre was selected, I then calmed my self, and slowly worked out what I did by accident in my haste, only took about another hour, but at least it works.
