I'm curious, @MatthewAtZenbeats, what made you decide to release the synth even though it's not finished?
Yeah i undersntad that. I just don't like signing to use local app on my device. But ok ok, will go through that
)) As i said I'm synth addict.
Btw. would be glad to pay for app to not need sign in
) Please add IAP "skip signing in" LOL
From user's point of view i would suggest to not close app - it really feels like app crashed, it is very unusal practice on iOS to close app. I would suggest to just show some notification why sign in is mandatory. And keep app running.
But that's just my opinion
Hi there!
Would love to hear more about your issues with editing. We will be working to improve the editing experience. WE have double tap to reset on some parameters but will be expanding that more over time.
Drum kit editing is on the roadmap as well.
I went through the exact same ordeal. No joy.
One reason I stick with iPad and hardly buy desktop apps anymore is so I can avoid this type of bad experience. I hate wasting precious free time with nonsense. There is no app I want badly enough to go through it.
Roland and I don't really get along, they always over complicate.
I hope this won't encourage other devs to bring their desktop copy protection schemes to iOS.
And I hope, for those into Roland sounds, that in the end the app is not too expensive and Roland makes good on the promise of AUv3.
@MatthewAtZenbeats, it would be good if the Initial Tone preset had its own dedicated button so you could get there immediately when wanting to design a patch.
It looks like you will be selling the preset/tone packs in addition to the lifetime unlock (and presumably the subscription gives access to all packs)? If this is the case, can I ask whether all packs are going to be installed regardless of whether you’ve purchased them or not? In other words, if you only want a few packs, will that reduce the install size?
Will be very interested to see the Pro Edit mode you mentioned you’re still working on. Currently, it sounds good but, if I’m honest, I’m not blown away by its capabilities so far - hopefully the Pro Edit mode is going to allow much more in depth sound design?
Edit: Agree with others about the general low volume.
I feel better by your statement that AU support is a top priority. But it begs the question of will it be a matter of days, weeks or even (gasp) months? Also, why not wait until the AU support was ready rather than releasing it without AU support and the resulting harsh (and warranted) criticism? Finally, it was hinted that AU support might not be available when the app. was announced nearly 4 months ago. But that was when the actual released was imminent, i.e. "soon". Is the delay technical or "strategic". Sorry, I'm having some Native Instruments (iMaschine Core MIDI removal) flashbacks:)
Thanks. Really looking forward to it. I just hope my iPad can keep up.
Yeah this is massive nonsense there rules. Actually passwords with there rules are not safe at all, cryptocrahically this is absolute nonsense such complicated password. Hard to remember ant not safe at all. And all developers around the world (including Microsoft or Apple) are still forcing users to use these dumb passwords, it's tiresome.
This is WAY much more safer password: "My dog loves ham and pancakes" ...
literaly simple to remember and there is cryptographic proof this is many orders of magniture harder to hack by brute force than passwords like "A4Rt#$a!"
Total pain signing in, I didn't have a Roland account so had to create one, made the mistake of letting apple generate a password which it then wouldn't accept even though I was signed into new Roland account, lots of faffing changing password into something I could type in because I couldn't change password without giving the old(new) password. Probably some user error here but I hope to god this messy way of trying a synth from the App Store does not spread. Haven't even bothered trying it yet!!
Noted and I respect your opinion this. As always, I appreciate the feedback!
Not sure what you mean here. Aside from AU support, (which were actively working on) what else is missing or unfinished?
We released ZENOLOGY GX last year on Windows and MacOS (as a GALAXIAS instrument) and have been working to improve its core features while porting it iPad. This initial release as a standalone version has more functionality that the current Windows and MacOS version found in GALAXIAS. That of course will change with the next GALAXIAS update though as we will keep ZENOLOGY GX for iPad and the GALAXIAS versions in sync.
@MatthewAtZenbeats don't think you answered my question earlier regarding the app's absense from the China store. Is that intentional? If so, mind if I ask why?
Could you provide some preset examples of ones that you are experiencing volume issues on?
As for packs and installations. Right now we are shipping the same library that is included with our desktop ZENOLOGY PRO. We'll be enabling the ability to download more packs in the future. I agree users should have the ability to pick and choose what packs are installed. The entire compatible library is huge with over 11k sounds. More info on that later.
Pro Edit is also coming along with the AU release👍
Ah man. That sounds like a nightmare. Sorry. Please DM me and I'll get you some help.
Thanks Mathew, I have got it to work now, just having a mini rant and shouting at clouds about change!!! ;-)
I’d suggest looking up the NIST 2026 password guidelines, character-type rules are out, 15+ characters is suggested (I.e. phrases)
It’s not a case of particular presets as such, the general volume of all presets is lower than other synths tend to be. As such, naturally quieter presets (such as Winger Clav) are very, very quiet. Presets which are naturally louder (containing distortion for example) are acceptable but given that I’ve had to set my iPad volume at maximum (which normally is not required), they should be extremely loud which is not the case.
Worth to note is that when using the iPad built-in speakers CoreAudio sometimes triggers the built-in limiter (on 'hot' signals) which makes things a quieter just to rise up slowly again when the level gets lower.
I've not noticed any severe level issues when using an external audio-interface.
this was my point :

Looking into this. I know Roland Cloud> @dendy said:
I love this!
Noted. We're looking into it.
Exciting to try out the synth, really nice sounds!
The export to SVZ isn’t working for me, it creates a 0kb file @MatthewAtZenbeats
Make sure you are saving the SVZ file into the ZENOLOGY GX folder in the On My Ipad directory. ZGX doesn't have the permissions to save files anywhere yet.
Downloaded. Tinkered.
Hm. Dunno. I think a lot will depend on what a lifetime key winds up costing.
There's not a whole hell of a lot here that I find "essential". There are so many really good synth apps on iOS now, that this feels kinda... well. Old. Though of course it's nice to hear some of those proprietary D50 sounds, and so on.
I'll keep playing with it. Test it in AUM when AU finally gets released... if that happens before subscription/purchase is required.
@MatthewAtZenbeats what about Zenbeats. hope there is something in the pipeline for the app.
Ditto
To make Korg look progressive?
Riiiight, but in the past, actually figuring out what aspects of the “Roland Cloud” and what apps or VSTs you had to use made Illuminati initiation rituals seem simple.
Cool! Works, thanks! Maybe good to not let the user choose a folder, but just have a default folder for exported presets…
Yeah, I’ve certainly encountered that happening in other apps but it doesn’t seem to be the case here; unless, that is, everything is constantly triggering the built in system limiter and it never gets the chance to rise up slowly again.
I wish I had my old Fostex 8 track tape machine to record this on to, but otherwise and otherwise what/where are folks using this with on the iPad? Sorry if this has been asked and answered many times already....
