    LFOs are not in sync.

Get a simple two step sequencer going at quarter note.
Set an LFO to a sawtooth modulating the VCF at 8th note.
Play and hold a note. The LFO will drift. Am I doing something wrong.

+1 It's not working as expected and when the tempo is changed it gets even worse...

I've found the same in Viral synth too.

Same in most of AudioKit apps and one the reasons why I very seldom bother to use them...

  • Has @Analogmatthew responded at all to any of the LFO issues being reported?

I've sent him a few PMs with one example preset to test with but so far no reply...

My guess is that it's not an 'easy fix' as I can notice the sync drifting by simply tweaking the UI (switching tabs) while the preset with synced LFOs is playing.

I have left a couple of messages on this thread concerning the unusable LFO Modulation when using the Mod Wheel, it starts of as a nice sine wave but the second you touch the wheel it changes to a mix of all the selectable wave forms for LFO, so I hardly use the app either until it is fixed.

  • Hope Matt manages to sort the LFO issue and offer an explanation. I would love to know a little bit more about the inner workings of this app.

  • Hi @AnalogMatthew, the new v1.1.1 update seems to have fixed the unstable Mod Wheel modulation 👍

Someone else mentioned the randomizer, I agree, can we get a true randomizer, maybe in addition to the “pick a random preset” randomizer we have here?

Also, the only other tiny niggle I have is, can we get a setting to increase the brightness of those little red LEDs on the buttons?
My eyes have a hard time seeing if those are on or off.

    @AnalogMatthew

Yeah, it was me, but I think it drowned in posts upthread, so totally +1 here. I’d so much love a real randomizer in this (and @AnalogMatthew ’s older synths too.)

    And it’s a +1 from me too👍

    And me too

  • Update! Thanks so much, everyone. I took a little breather after the release, then promptly got flattened by the flu for a couple of weeks. Super fun. But I’m back now, feeling human again. And, as you've noticed there have been several nice updates to J8 since launch, and there is still some work for me.

I’ve been reading all the feedback and taking it seriously. I’m really happy people are loving J8, but I also know there’s still more to improve and a few little bugs left to chase down.

Big News: I will be adding MPE and polyphonic aftertouch to J8 before the end of the year. And for everyone who supported it early at $7.99 and $19.99, that update will be included at no extra charge.

J8 is $29.99 now, but if you missed the intro price, I’ll put it on sale again when new AudioKit apps drop. I was told that should be tomorrow (I'm just as surprised about that as you are ¯_(ツ)_/¯)

Really appreciate all the support and excitement. And, I'm still working daily on the Pro-5. It's sounding really special and I want to make sure I get it right for you... stay tuned.

More Good News: Brice Beasley is working on a bank for J8, and that’ll be a free update too.

    Hi @AnalogMatthew,
Great news, the J8 is still exciting to use and I’m looking forward to those new presets and Pro-5 👍

“Metronome Hero” it looks like? Subscription based; no thanks.

  • edited April 4

A subscription for Guitar Hero with a metronome and no actual game attached? Isn't it a little late for April Fools? no thankyou lol

  • Sub: no

  • Subscription isn't an immediate no for some, but it really has to be what you want! At the moment, I am subbed to Logic Pro, but I always feel like I can't do this forever, that would be nuts! So at best, subscription always feels like a temporary choice that you do for a long time.

I'm pretty sure I have all the AudioKit apps (except for the predecessor to King of FM), so I had to at least give the demo a shot. It's an adorable "Hero" style visualizer that you can just plug in and try to play in time while you also have a synth and a MIDI keyboard plugged in.

That's free and for 50mb it's staying on my phone. I know that there are desktop applications like this that people pay money for, so I wouldn't be surprised if this thing finds a niche market of some kind.

The Metronome app is by Aure, the co-founder of AudioKit Pro. While I had nothing to do with the app, I told him in advance that subscriptions wouldn't be... well received.

He wanted to pass this along:

"Unlike a synth, which you might use for a single project or a particular sound, rhythm is a long-term investment. This is something musicians build over months and years. I want people to keep playing, keep improving, and keep discovering new depth in their groove.

At the same time, I want to keep evolving Metronome Hero, adding new visualizations, better tracking, and deeper results analysis. There’s so much more I want to build, but at some point you have to release the app and let musicians start using it. That time is now."

He's not on social media and might not ever see this thread. But, you can email him at [email protected]

  • I did not realize there was a co-founder, that app is a blemish on your catalog imo

I wish him great success with the app. Just because we (the vocal no-subbers here) aren't a suitable target market doesn't mean there isn't one.

btw, link for those interested ...

Not for me, but looks pretty slick.

  • Blemish on the catalog seems a bit strong if the issue is not liking subscriptions.

It seems like a solid app to me. Time will tell if subscription will work for it.

If people try the app and like it but don’t feel like the subscription is a good deal, writing to Aure and letting him know will give him data points to reconsider.

Eh. To each their own. It anything I feel it's a statement that can inspire hope. Blemishes can be easily fixed. They can also be ignored; or become stains. I find the app endearing.

Blemish taken care of. Sick concept, great execution and I will be putting my money where my mouth is :)

  • Any news on the LFO drift thing? Did it get sorted?

Same in most of AudioKit apps and one the reasons why I very seldom bother to use them...

I am working on app which hosts AUv3 plugins and AudioKIT plugins compatibility in my app costs me literaly 80% of ENTIRE time i spent with AUv3 implementation. Like really, i am NOT overstating this. Probably 50 plugins tested - all work seamlessly .. then another 80% of work to make it compativle with AK plugins.

Sounds damming to AudioKit, but honestly it seems more probable that your coding is at fault. I've never heard anything about host developers having to go out of their way to host apps that use the AudioKit framework. If they use supported functions that you just don't implement properly, that's not their issue.

I’d suggest conferring with the AudioKit folks or any other developer whose plugins you believe have a bug. This thread probably isn’t the place.
