Put it in AUM and drop some LFO’s and FX on it… 😎✌🏼
lol, yeah- I'm easily impressed (like a stupid child) according to my ex's.
Haha, bit of an own goal on their part probably to admit that... 😂😂
There is of course an upside. I kinda miss the days when I thought every app was the bees knees.
Right on. I appreciate all the info, I kinda had a feeling it might be a bit one note. I liked the sound in the video, but yea, thanks all for sharing your opinions.
This seems to have a lukewarm at best reception. What else is out there that does cinematic pads and drones better?
You don't need any special synths for drone music or pads tbh, you could use almost any synth, but mpe is a huge bonus.
Some stuff I use:
Salome and Mononoke by Bram Bos
Continua and Quanta 2 by Audio Damage
FRMS by Imaginando
Aparillo by SugarBytes
Drambo and Sunrizer by Beepstreet
Among others…
I wanted a spacewalk type chord generator for iPhone. I should have just stuck w/StepBud and a myriad of drone presets that I have across 555 auv3 instruments.
The iPhone GUI is so offensive. I felt like I had been victimized when I tried to use it.
Remember how terrible the Gatelab app was when launched? It's way worse.
The gui is 20% of the screen real estate. Just awful. Had I paid more than 5 bucks- I'm sure this depressive haze that thou have cast upon me may never cease, a las.. I will push forward and forgive myself for being hopeful and greedy.

In a word, you were cursed 🤣
But what made you think it would be like SpaceWalk? I don’t remember anything in the description about that, it was clearly advertised as just a synth with some random patches, no?
I’m pretty sure the hypnosis backfired and @egobeats got hit at the wrong frequency. I love a good rant though, and have gone on my fair share, so I get it haha
Don't know why my brain thought that. I think it was optimism, as it's something I've wanted on my phone and just did some copium to push my impulse regulation to dangerous levels. Reality certainly restored the moment I launched it and realized it was actual doo doo tho.
All in all he still got away pretty lightly! He better not ask for a refund or he'll really be tempting fate 😈

@Gavinski
Omg, yes! That's how I feel! That could be a candid capture of my experience!!!!
The head on the pike looks like he’s enjoying the show.
Fun story, entered a battle of the bands way back when. One band we were against was an over the top “satanic” metal band. Tons of piercings and tats, cages with dancers, a singer dressed as the devil. It was clearly satirical but the dudes actually were pretty aggressive. Our little garage band ended up winning. The GWAR wannabes had better scores on performance, but we ended up having better ticket sales. We also had better crowd participation thanks to our sisters and girlfriends buying bras from Good Will to throw on stage. Ended up having to pack up and leave quick once our drummer started bad mouthing “those goofy devil idiots who can’t play s***”
All that to say, I’m pretty sure the torturers in that painting were playing guitar and drums with that band lol
.
@FizzyLizzy27 stepbud using cinematic chord progressions. Once you save them into AUM as presets, it's a solid solution for me personally.
Here is 10 Cinematic 4 chord progressions in various key/scale.

Hilda is pretty good for drones! There’s even a preset section for it to help get ya started
Hi friends, Dark Park creator here. I'm glad to see an active discussion; I'm essentially harvesting feedback for changes, fixes and improvements for future updates.
As a fellow iOS producer, Dark Park is my contribution to the space. I'm sure you've all at some point had an idea for an instrument, effect, feature or other and wished it existed, this was mine. It's something I originally made for myself which I then decided to make available to anybody who wanted it. There's no profit in this for me, the app just needs to pay for itself so that I'm not out of pocket. It’s not intended to be a commercial powerhouse, just something that sustains itself and contributes to the space.
The app is pretty genre specific, with the flexibility being determined by how it's played. If you've ever listened to any of the Cryo Chamber artists, you'll see that variety is found in tone and subtlety, which is what this app is all about. That is very much the design philosophy here. It wouldn't make sense for it to make sounds that fall outside of the specified genre. In a field of "dark ambient pads and drones" I'm confident that Dark Park delivers.
You absolutely will find similarity among the sounds generated, especially if you base your judgement on the first three seconds of each patch. However, they evolve and move. The intention is that these patches reveal themselves over time. The app can't repeat itself exactly as it's coded not to. I'm happy to add further factory presets to the next update to demonstrate this if it's something owners would be interested in.
Jade Starr and Field Tone Audio have shared videos on YouTube demonstrating their uses of the app, and this week I'll be uploading a walkthrough video too so that those curious can take a closer look/listen.
Regarding the names of the parameters, there's a "glance guide" in the app that explains what each one is and does. I understand that the abstract naming won’t be for everyone. It'll be easy enough for me to add a toggle that changes them.
Happy to answer any questions, and genuinely appreciate people taking the time to explore and discuss it.
How come the iOS requirement is so high?
Why does the ui appear the size of a credit card on my iPhone and can’t resize?
Why so much noise and static?
Why won’t it accept midi data to send midi data to?
@lewisleval
I asked about the UI in the Auv3 facebook group and you said that the app was very useable at small sizes, but some of the reactions here suggest it isn't. I'm just curious, is the space I circled below used for anything?
The truth is, iOS 18.6 isn't high, it just seems that some users are on even older iOS versions. Easily solved in the next update.
I assumed that most people producing music on their phone, especially those who are in the community, with knowledge of various apps and instruments, with Dark Park especially not being their first music app, would also be using a host such as AUM, which Dark Park fits perfectly in. I was essentially following the format of many other instrument apps that I own: AUv3 prioritised, but can be opened and played standalone, even if the aspect ratio of the instrument isn't 9:16.
A quick glance at the in-app guide would answer that one for you, but to save you the time, it's a textural noise dial called "Spray" in the app. Simply turn it down and it'll never bother you again.
This last question, would you be so kind as to be a little more specific if you'd like me to actually fix it for you? As currently, the app works with any midi effect added, as well as external midi keyboards, whether they're software or hardware.
Hi there, just to borrow from my previous post:
I assumed that most people producing music on their phone, especially those who are in the community, with knowledge of various apps and instruments, with Dark Park especially not being their first music app, would also be using a host such as AUM, which Dark Park fits perfectly in. I was essentially following the format of many other instrument apps that I own: AUv3 prioritised, but can be opened and played standalone, even if the aspect ratio of the instrument isn't 9:16.
I use Dark Park on my phone during times when I'm waiting in my car. I open AUM, open Dark Park, find a sound I like, add some effects and then just explore. The app can be used in standalone, but its aspect ratio is 1:1. With an update I may be able to add some sort of mechanism which can make the app larger in standalone for iphone.
The space you highlighted is decorative, taking inspiration from Kontakt instruments (giving the app a sense of familiarity for use on desktop). I was also careful to ensure that it wouldn't hinder use on ipad. I simply wanted the app to also look nice while using it. In an earlier version of the app, the streetlights in the image faded in and out in sync with the attack and release.
I thought I was being helpful by also allowing the app to work on iPhone, as I've had it on mine for quite a while. So far it seems as though that choice has brought nothing but problems, of which I could have spared myself by making it ipad only. I still want those using the app on their iPhone to be happy with it though, so I will be setting my focus on adding some sort of feature that makes the app even more screen friendly for standalone on iPhone.
Hi there, not to worry regarding pricing. My non music apps are priced to suit their target audience, as my music apps will be priced to suit their target audience.
It's in the works
Sign me up! 🤘😂
haha sure thing! In the meantime, check your emails, I sent you a redeem code for Dark Park in case you wanted to take a closer look at it.
Thnx 👍
I like this app's sound. Of course, it lacks good presets that would showcase its capabilities. In fact, if you tinker with the settings, you can get both good, suitable drones and bright, beautiful, and lively sounds that transcend genres.
