    You are right.

Drambo isnt a DAW but a groovebox.

Id like to leave photos though.

Quite artistic in design from Giku and Beepstreet.

  • Without much thought

    Would like to have:
Tempo automation. Mixed time signatures. Multiple midi track piano roll view. Extensive midi/keyboard gui and workflow control.

    Would be amazing:
    Notation view.

Integrated sampler (think Logics QuickSampler, Abletons Simpler or the Cubase Sampler Track) with direct access to any 'audio source' (audio-files, plug-in/track outputs & hardware inputs) being used within the project.

If Cubasis only add the sample track, would be a game changer on IOS

It really would. I would still want instanced midi clips (events as they call them)... uhh unless they did eventually add this, haven't checked.

If I understand what you mean here these are all features of Multitrackstudio although there may be some other stuff you wouldn’t find…

Yeah I tried it once. Can't remember what exactly I didn't like about it but maybe something to do with the workflow. I'm happy enough with cubasis for now.

  • In terms of current practical use I actually need a multi-track recorder which is easy to use - I’ve been recording myself playing various trumpet/cornet and mouthpiece combinations in the hunt for the sound I want. I’m quite happy with Cubasis 3 for this, but might add BFM at some point to be able to see a meter more clearly at a distance.

More broadly, being a heading-for-old-boy I’d like to match, say Cubase 2/3 MIDI features and late Cubase VST audio, which means with Cubase 3 I miss:

    • Ghost copies of parts
    • Plugin delay compensation
    • And maybe not features back then but I’d love sends to be able to return to a full track/bus/have a chain of FX
    • Plus more routing flexibility, like sending a MIDI track to more than 1 parallel track

It is a strange one, for many reasons, workflow (and Brutalist GUI) included. The feature list is incredible but dev dude has an “interesting” way of getting there. Has literally taken me years to get to some kind of fluidity.

OK, these are a couple of ideas:
    Plugin Delay Compensation
    Floating plugin windows
A master meter that can be in a floating window
Proper implementation of mute and solo functions including a master solo cancellation
Proper meters that can be calibrated for rms, VU, true peak and LUFS
    Clip gain adjustment
Flexible routing where audio and midi signals can be sent to any other channel
Plugin slots can be reordered in the channels
Ability to send audio directly to external hardware channels from any channel and bus
A range of built in utility plugins equivalent to what is in AUM.
    A sampler like BM3.
    Sidechain routing
Ability to drag clips between channels
Drag and drop import of audio and midi clips
Easy template saving for channel setups

    Just to get started

Basically something that puts together and improves all the best parts of Logic, Cubasis, BM3, Auria Pro, AUM, Loopy Pro and NS2 in one package. That would rock!

    (You did ask)
    🙂

Oh I forgot about floating plugin windows. That’s actually big. I really don’t like when you can’t have an instrument and an effect open at the same time. Logic Pro in particular drives me nuts on this. Very clunky to do any sound design.

To add I would like to see folder tracks, to be able to manage projects.

  • Here’s what I want:

    • Intuitive workflow
    • flexible built in synth
    • Comprehensive piano-roll/time-line midi editing
    • Basic audio tracks and processing

    So:
    1.NS2 with audio
    Or

2.Xequence with obsidian built in and audio
    Or

    3.Logic:

    • where advertised features actually work
    • that doesn’t crash multiple times a day and corrupt work
    • with a synth like obsidian
    • with comprehensive midi editing

Options 1 and 2 are not available. Beginning to think option 3 won’t be either.
