Hi mate, thanks for the reminder! Great remix, and yes, i enjoyed to listen to this track. I want to listen to it also in my car, where i have a Jbl system with 8 speakers and a subwoofer...pump up the volume! :
Love that bass patch, it's a totally different track now
Hell yeah! The trustworthy car test. 😎 Thanks mate.
Exactly the idea behind the remix - to transform from one style to another. Glad you enjoyed my take on such a great song. I'm honored. ☺️
I have heard you mention BoC many times, but I wasn’t familiar with their work. I just listened to Prophecy at 1420 MHz. Cool stuff. Reminds me a bit of some of my ambient-like stuff. Might be a new direction for me. Looks like they are a duo. I’m thinking I could get all of my old gear out of the closet and pretend to play it while I run my iPad. I wouldn’t have to split the money with anybody!
Yes, my friend. BoC are an electronic music duo BOARD-ering (yeah, cringe dad joke alert) on what sounds like TripHop and Ambient genres. I wouldn't bother with old gear though.
ToneBoosters' Reelbus applied to an unmastered track before Bark Filter and Cubasis' Brickwall gets me pretty close to their sound. I can't believe their first new album in 13 years is soon to be released! 🤯
Bark Filter Triple Band makes everything sound huge. One of my favorites. Never cared much for Brickwall. The effect is too obvious. Maybe I’m just using it incorrectly. I like dad jokes!
I like dad jokes too! I'm at the age where I find them funny, even if the youngsters around me roll their eyes. 🤣
I use Cubasis' Brickwall at -1dB just to cap off any stray peaks, not to slam the master any further and suck out the punchiness from the drums. I use Youlean's Loudness Meter to check and make sure most of my mixes are at -8LuFS. Ambient is mastered differently and at a lower LuFS level than -8.
Bark Filter Triple Band is what I use for the main compression on the masters.
That's enough slamming of the unmastered mix. As I said, Brickwall is simply to make sure no peaks surpass -1dB.
Just an update. Been working on client work, which is why there's a lack of new personal music to post here. 😅 Hope everyone is doing well here.

Alright, and the aforementioned client work is complete. She's absolutely thrilled with how this one turned out, and I'm happy to take those freelance music production commissions for these wonderful clients. ❤️ 100% human made, no AI involved in this (which is the same as with all the above tracks, lol). Enjoy.
I will guarantee you that every piece of music in this thread is 100% human made by me. In fact, I know there are areas of my music where I can improve my sound, and so I recently bought these...
...for a bit of light reading and to reduce my daily screen time. Then again, I'd rather my music have flaws than use AI to "reinterpret" my sounds. I still have room to grow as a music producer, and I love to learn and soak up info like a sponge.
In fact, I'm thinking of doing a community EP/album thing sometime soon, where I ask everyone to answer a list of questions (key, bpm, time sig, genre, etc), and I'll make music based on those answers. An "LPF Friends 2026" EP/album if you will.
Cheers all.

(Ambient in Koala Sampler)
(In memory of my dear mother whose 78th birthday would've been today.)
So today, @elf_audio released what I'd consider a game-changing update to Koala Sampler! In short, now I can load AUv3 instruments and effects into the Koala standalone! I was able to (re)sample a couple instances of Korg Module Pro (one for the Ivory Grand, the other for the Vibraphone) and one instance of Kiev (for the drone) without needing to faff about with AUM! Furthermore, I could load in Stratosphere Cloud Reverb and Reelbus onto the master channel of the buss mixer!
What would normally take a couple hours to create took me under 30 minutes to create thanks to this update, and the above results speak for themselves. 🤯 Mastered in Cubasis 3 with Barkfilter, Cubasis' Brickwall, and Youlean's Loudness Meter.
Tagging @rottencat and @Pierre118 for this one since it's Ambient. And, as always with my music, it is 100% human made!

(Electronic Music in Koala Sampler)
This one has a beat to it, but it isn't EDM. It's inspired by some of the pieces of music from the movie soundtrack for "Social Network". Trent Reznor once again inspiring some of my music. Hope you like it.

My third and final piece for today is this piece of music done in Koala Sampler. I swear, the addition of AUv3 hosting in Koala Sampler has made creating these tracks a breeze. Please enjoy, and don't forget to comment if you do enjoy.
@jwmmakerofmusic Really awesome, Jim!
Thanks so much, mate. ❤️ More Ambient coming soon.

(Instrumental Hip-Hop in Koala Sampler)
Not much to say about this one other than it has an epic intro, deep bass, punchy kicks, and attitude. ❤️ Enjoy!
Happy 78th is my favourite of your recent crop Jim, it’s hard to keep up with you these days which is a great problem to have 😊
One of my faves too to be honest. It's in honor of my dearly departed mother. ❤️ I want to make more Ambient in Koala after that recent update from two days ago, but also am saving it for Drone Day next Saturday (9 days away! holy crap!)
Now that I can use my favorite reverb in Koala, I'm all set! 🤞

Eh, just a quickly-made piece of Ambient. Nothing special. 😂 Moving along...

Decided to add a link to this latest piece here.
Gonna dig back into songwriting and try my hand at vocals again.
In fact, I "doubled down" on improving my songwriting and bought three books on the subject...
"Writing Better Lyrics" by Pat Pattison
"How to Write One Song" by Jeff Tweedy (of Wilco)
"Songwriting for Dummies" with Jim Peterik (of Survivor) as a co-author
The "Dummies" book arrives tomorrow. I started digging into Jeff's book first when my original plan was to start with Pat's book.
This quote from the forward of Jeff's book - "We have a choice - to be on the side of creation, or to surrender to the powers that destroy" - is what sucked me into his book first. This sentence rings even truer now than it did in 2020 before AI was even a thing.
Anyways, I love Jeff's writing style. Instead of reading like dry stereo instructions, he has a conversational approach that's interesting and engaging, cynical and blunt at times, but honest and heartfelt. He even cusses in his prose, much like how I speak in real life on the daily. 😂 I f--king love this book so far and what Jeff has to say. I'll be reading more of it tomorrow for damn sure.
And yes, I do love physical books more than Kindle. I love being able to smell the pages, and to read and relax without the glaring screen in front of my eyes all the time. To just disconnect from the internet for a bit and engage in something meaningful.

(BoC-styled TripHop done in FL Studio Mobile)
Yeah, so I was in a bit of a pissy mood (rest assured it's nothing to do with anyone or anything here), and so I created a quick track in under an hour in FL Studio Mobile inspired by Boards of Canada. 🫣😂 I made this to take the edge off. And yes, I switched back to FL Studio Mobile, because while I love the hell out of Koala (especially now that it has AUv3 hosting), I missed using automation and my vast collection of soundfonts. Mastered it in Cubasis 3 with Reelbus' "Canadian Boards" preset, BarkFilter Tripleband, Cubasis' Brickwall, and Youlean's Loudness Meter.
Please enjoy.
