Backrooms: The Flamethrower!
Thanks for the info @charlesv and @Gavinski ! I’ll be concentrating my nostalgic energies elsewhere. It’s not for me at this time.
I was intrigued by this app idea so I finally bought it. Here are some thoughts now:
I’m not really thrilled by the instrument sounds and nothing really sounds like a piano which was disappointing considering the name of the app. Most of the sounds are too ‘mushy’ and similar for my taste.
I think if it was just an effect that I could play other instruments through, it would be more useful.
I really like the background ambient sounds but I don’t get why they’re not a separate control from the instruments. To use them I have to make two instances in AUM and have one just for the ambient sounds. I don’t get why it was done like this.
Anyone else feel this way about it or like it as is? I wonder if @lewisleval plans any further work on it now? I still think it could be worth updating.

True that the word piano in the name doesn't really reflect the sound of the app at all. Just guessing here, but the name may have been an 'homage', let's say, to this extremely viral TikTok video, which has 16 million views at the time of writing, and which is titled

I extracted the sample files and I'm using them with Outgrowth and Drambo's flexi sampler, which gives the level of control I want
Just ran backrooms through Ambiotica, black hole, and crush station. You can easily get lost.
