SAMPLR UPDATED 1.3.1

SAMPLR update could be about to hit.

Strange thing is, it just appeared in my updates showing the old version number 1.3.

But it's on 1.3 already.

Edit: 1.3.1 is live.... iOS 8, Audiobus 2 and bug fixes.

  • Ok, confirmed on Twitter....

@samplr: Samplr 1.3.1 with iOS 8 support, Audiobus 2 with State Saving and tons of fixes rolling out the App Store. Have a great holiday!

  • Samplr is here, Alléluia !!!

  • It's a Crimbo miracle.

  • Its hit.. UK :)

+0.0.1? So it's just a minor update? Ah well, all is good.

After all the foreplay, happy to see the beast arrive.

Settled down with Doug's Epic Tutorial video to refresh myself and then copied a sample in AS and pasted it into an empty slot in a new project. Or tried to. Insta crash. Rebooted, same thing. Tried a variety of samples, different lengths, all the same result. Air, 8.1.2.

Will try a few other things, but wanted to see if anyone else was similarly afflicted....

EDIT: All existing (previous) samples are intact and available and I now see that the different new samples I tried to paste are in fact available to me and work fine if loaded from said library, so they took root there but crashed the app in doing so.....not so terrible, just a bit of an initial shock. Word to the wise etc.

  • Works perfectly for me. iPad Air 2, 8.1.2.

  • Any word on the update for iPads on 7.1.2?

Never did get this app, or in anything like the amount that many other (notable) brethren seemed to, and I put this down to live playing. Imagining that my weakness in this area was a strength of the app and therefore did we diverge, but after sitting through Doug's video for the second time (http://www.thesoundtestroom.com/?s=samplr) and this time stopping it a lot along the way and auditioning each of the 'instruments' I finally got it.

Had it running into FLUX and had that familiar (but all too rare) feeling of drifting off into the endlessly variant repetitions without even thinking about hitting Auria's record button.

    Seriously cool. You were right.

yay, perfect! I know that feeling. Good flow, good times. Keep playing

I made this mistake as well, until I figured out it's somewhat unusual recording system which can turn it more or less into a sequencer (well, it can give you a pattern of a fixed length which kind of serves the same purpose). Brilliant app.

  • Wow this app is incredible.

I'm trying to figure out how this app can fit in my workflow. I do have a synth I've been wanting to sample for so long. My Korg Trinity. But I can't seem to find any info if I can create and save samples as patches for live use. Sorry for such lack of no how as I'm really novice on sampling. Could this app do that?

    Hi everyone,

  • First look....
    works as designed.

Second look, have to look again into Quantized Recording, seems thats still not accurate...

  • @Musikman4Christ You mean like this?(@ videotime 4:45)

You can sample in your note via Audiobus.

  • Broken in audiobus on IOS 7.1.2 so don't update if you're stuck in the past.

I wish I'd read this post 5 minutes earlier....

  • Thanks for the heads up @supadom. Have slowly learnt to be extra cautious before hitting 'update' these days, would have been gutted to lose this one !

  • However I've just tried it on mini retina with everything 'latest' and it works as it did for me on IOS7.1.2 before the update. Apart from glitching at 256 frames. This however happened when I tested mini when it was still on 7 so I expect air is just that tiny bit more robust, maybe they used different components dunno. Anyhow, my conclusion is:

    If you're on 7 don't do anything

If you're on 8, update and be merry

There are no other improvements as far as I can see. The midi sync between loopy hd and samplr is as sloppy as it used to be on both 7 and 8.

  • Reboot your device after updating.

    Still not quantised Records correct...
In the picture you See a quantised rec of a 4 to the floor with off hihats and a snare on 5&9....
The First Kick is @ the end of the Loop......
And you See the Hits are still not in the Grid, you have to set them manuell....

  • No problems here Ipad3 IOS 7.1.2 after rebooting

  • Yep, makes sense @werd I've only rebooted the mini. But to be honest, since there's no clear improvements I'm going to stick with the old version on 7 as it's been quite stable for me.

@SpookyZoo I think @obiwahnkentobi was referring to more rhythmical use of the input recording, where you record a beat live and it records precisely within the bar rather than having to use the transient markers.

  • edited December 2014

ios 7.1.2 and runs fine on AB2. There was a glitch when recording by pressing the record button from AB tab but after relaunching the app it seems to run smooth.

I also notice what @obiwahnkentobi mentions and 2 future requests comes to my mind:

-Set threshold level to trigger the recording

-set offset of all mark points.

To be honest I was expecting more, even as an iap but still samplr is unique app

    Thats my point thx.
Wanna record a beat, and instantly use it....
dont want to truncute or set the transients manually...

Dont wanna make Samplr smaller as it is, its a unbelievable great & creative instrument,
but in some parts there are STILL gaps esp. for live using...

Samplr does not quantize the sample to fit the Waveform view (those grid lines would only match up if you had a trimmed sample at same bpm). The quantize function in Samplr (Little musical note shape button) only quantizes your sequence (ie your screen taps triggering your audio slices). Hope that makes sense

  • Yep. RedSkyLullaby is correct.

But... There is also a different quantise option when you record the internal mix into a new slot. However I've never worked out exactly what this meant. So never use it (and never needed it to be honest since I don't play live).

I see it as a bounce playing tracks feature so you can get a rhythm groove going and then bounce it to an empty slot to free up slots. I'm not using that because I never run out of slots but I believe it works ok.
