  • Updating while I type! Whooohooo!

  • Cool, this sounds freaking Awesomer!

  • I did not even have to read directions, it really is easy yet sounds so complex! This is without a doubt the best drum app I have seen on iOS so far ! Great job Luis, Thanks so much.

  • Yeah, I like how you can select any part of the song in real time and it continues to play seamlessly!

  • Between this and flux fx my iOS capabilities took a HUGE step forward this week!

  • Anyone else lose their user presets?

BTW....I know that the plethora of electronic drums has caused some folks to ask for more Rock options, but if there was a personal critique of RDM for me it was it was TOO rocky, smelt too much of the backroom in the pub or the old railway arch rehearsal rooms in Brixton I used to play in.....but.....now running this through FLUX it feels and sounds like the best of all worlds. Stunning stuff. Muscles and mean eye-liner.

  • I'm going to take another look at Flux.

  • I would consider it one of the first tools in the Doctor's bag at this point.

  • Is there a way to export song/pattern in mp3 format etc....or just by using AB?

  • Just record to a DAW like Cubasis ect. that converts to MP3>?

  • Any MIDI capabilities?

  • No, just pure audio awesomeness!

  • This app just owns now. The little human variations you can throw in with "Jam" coupled with the fill feature that goes great with song mode, there's no excuse now not to use this more if you are at all Rock oriented. Outstanding!

  • As you can program your own rhythms too, you could use it for any genre that has real drums as opposed to electronic.

  • Any videos yet?

  • I haven't seen videos, but I haven't looked either. He did update the photos in the app store listing to show the new features (you can tell by the font changes). Like I said in another post, this guy definitely gets the "most improved developer" award based on the fact we begged for months for this thing to get audio export (AB/IAA) of ANY kind. And now look where we are!

I still would like some sort of AudioCopy feature for loops someday. The desperation level for needing ACP went down significantly following this new Song Mode, since it's a heck of a lot more practical to just lay out an entire song and use that as the bed for your track. But given how great the sounds are, it would be nice to be able to quickly grab loops of one to a few measures in length without having to record and trim. But I ask for that in EVERY rhythm app. Pretty minor gripe given how much has been added to the app.

DrumPerfect is usually cited as the gold standard of rock drums on iOS, and in terms of pure features, it certainly is worthy. But my iPad2 basically can't even run it anymore, and I get far more use out of RDM as guitar playing companion.

  • Passed on this ages ago, but from all the interest and enthusiasm you guys are showing, seems like it's worthy of another look.

  • Perhaps Doug could do a new video showing off the cool new stuff and just how great this app has become?

+1 sounds like it's undergone quite a lot improvements since Doug took a look.

  • Yes we knew way back in the beginning how great this app could be with a bit of love from the developer. Kudos to Luis for making this baby shine! It is hard to believe it is not yet on every single ipad/phone already considering just how good it really is.

  • RDM has been moved from the not so active music app folder to the active music app folder. Great work, Luis. Thank you.

  • Luis, I really like how in song mode you can select any part if the song that's playing, at any specific time, and it doesn't miss a beat, even during a fill, it just works so nice. So I thought, hey it would be so cool for Luis to create an app that you can import audio samples and have them play in the same manner. Like sampler. It would allow be ableton like in a way.

  • Hi guys. Sorry kinda new to AB and have never tried RDM. Can someone quickly tell me if RDM is just for jamming/practicing, or can I use RDM to record tracks with to Garageband or Auria? Thanks

  • edited January 2015

You can use it for both. It now does both very well and now you can fire your human drummer!

  • Oh F yea thanks Tritonman, may be just what I was looking for. Gonna go buy it right now. Gonna check out this forum a lot now too

  • As a comparison with DrumPerfect, if anyone has both, are the resulting beats realistic sounding in the same way but easier to achieve?

If you want a natural acoustic sounding drums on iOs music production, you have to have both DrumPerfect and RockDrumMachine on your device... But they are different beasts. I use DP for mellow, soft kind of songs and RDM mainly for rock. Both sound very natural and gets the job done. RDM is simple. The easiest option to lay drum tracks. DP is a little bit of a hassle as you have to know the dynamics of drumming beacuse you have to program each element on the drum kit.

  • I have nice natural sounding acoustic sounding drums without drumperfect thankfully. Drumjam and Rockdrummachine make a really great combo . I do like the sound of drumperfect though.

  • Drumperfect is super awesome especially after the last update. These two apps are my favorites.
