The Possibility of a Timeline in Beathawk is a bit like Atlantis, rumored and dreamt of by men since Sky Daddy and Adam found themselves talking about snakes. As far as I'm concerned (me, me, me) I am pretty convinced if I had a timeline to correct myself with I might spend even more time in the program, but I'm pretty sure I'd end up making less with it.
This is not an argument against having a timeline, a man is always looking over the next green hill, but simply an acknowledgment that I do good work in it because of using my ears rather than my eyes. I am not primarily a musician, but it feels like the closest thing to jamming, building a natural feel.
I think it's a great program and I'm glad it's available to me. ALSO, and this is no small thing, the developers are actually still working on it and moving forward in a number of different directions, improving, refining, adding. It's alive and they're not bullshitters. No small thing.
You convinced me and thanks for the info.I think im gonna buya new itunes card nr.999 later today.
@JohnnyGoodyear
I want BeatHawk 1.2, code name: Atlantis
But you're right: constraints help to get things done, so midi editing within BeatHawk might destroy that jamming feeling that makes this app different
I don't use Beathawk all that much but still couldn't help myself with the current sale. World and Latin Percussion for 99 cents each is a no-brainer.
With sound packs on sale this weekend, I decided to add to my collection -- however, MAJOR issues have occurred since I purchased the Blues Guitar pack. First (last night) the app had sluggish response, then this morning it would not fully open. I deleted BeatHawk, and reinstalled -- now the only sound packs showing up are the two included factory sounds and the optional Piano -- nothing else shows in the browser; not my previous purchased packs nor any that should be available for purchase.
I've rebooted and reinstalled again and I see the same thing. I'll submit a problem report on the UVi site, but thought I'd mention this here and see if anyone else has similar trouble? (This is on iPad mini2 iOS 8.4)
@BastienCo So I finally decided to get BeatHawk and spend it all on the IAPs. Much to my frustration (and economy), when I click on Browser, BeatHawk only displays EDM, Urban, User Library (empty) and just one expansion for purchase, Acoustic Grand, at $6.99. Am I missing something?
Already deleted the whole thing, reinstalled, rebooted, etc etc. US Store.
EDIT: Just saw right above my post that @TozBourne had posted the same problem. Any feedback on it?
I just went for a new itunes card to buy Beathawk and now you both are telling me this,lol.
I would like to take advantage of the 50% off sale, but I cannot find most of the expansion IAPs in BeatHawk. I CANNOT find LATIN PERCUSSION, 808, FUNK, TRIP HOP, MELLO, and many others. See attached photo of my screen. These are the only ones available. Is anyone else able to purchase LATIN PERCUSSION? If so, how? What is the trick? I wrote to UVI support, but I doubt they will respond in time for the sale..... Sigh.
Did you try doing Restore Purchases, Toz? You always have to do this after reinstalling the app.
My problem is that I don't see Blues Guitar or many other expansions in my BeatHawk, only the ones shown n the screen shot I posted above.

I had the same problem before the last update.One workaround is: save a "fake kit or song".It doesn't matter what it is.Then go to "load song".Your before saved song should show.Keep 2 fingers on the selection."Delete" should show up.Do it.Now the library is
"refreshed" and everything should show up.Hope this helps.
Thanks, Schimanski. I tried your steps. Hopefully I followed them correctly? It had no effect on the problem. Library still shows the same IAPs, most of them missing. No change.

[ISSUE IN-APP PURCHASES] I am sorry to inform you that we are experiencing issues with our servers, this will be fixed ASAP. Sale time will be extended.
THANK YOU FOR THE UPDATE!!! Merci beaucoup, UVI!
I've been thinking about this very point quite a bit lately: after a pyramid of knockout-fight style iOS drum machine A/B'ing it's BeatHawk that has come out on top in terms of being the closest to my iOS MPC dream.
Specifically to your poetic musings: my fondest workflow memories were the MPC2000 (which BeatHawk has really captured the essence of in a way that (to me) leaves iMPCpro in the distant dust) and though I never thought about it too hard said MPC2000 had no Timeline (os1.0 had yet to have teeny lcd grid-edit either .. at least that I was aware of).
Thinking back if there Was a nuanced Timeline I'd have been lost in endless tweaking rather than capturing micro-performances. Everything you say about natural feel and jamming is right on - and for the first time I used BeatHawk with an external controller: hands down the most fun I've had yet on iOS.
Now if BeatHawk just added more Pad Banks . . . Atlantis found!
Thanks, because I am ready to buy!
@BastienCo how long would the sale be extended to, is the problem fixed, I am still getting problems in purchasing IAP
@BastienCo -- thanks for the info. As experienced as I am with iOS, I hit something like this and i begin to doubt myself. However, I felt like I was doing everything correctly, and documenting my steps as I proceeded. That's why I posted here and then filled out a problem report on the UVi site.
Extending the sale is the right thing to do and it's appreciated! BeatHawk is a great app and I look forward to getting back into it...soon!
Just posting an update on the Beathawk IAP issue...
I've been in contact w/ UVI via email. They sent me an email this AM, telling me the problem was fixed and that Restore Purchases would make all expansion packs available. Unfortunately, it didn't work. I tried several times
Out of desperation, I then tried deleting the Beathawk app from my iPad and redownloadng it, and that only made things worse. Before I was missing most packs, but had about 6-7 expansion packs available for IAP, now I have only one, Acoustic Piano!
I reported this to UVI and they wrote back right away saying a new v. 1.1.1 would be released in a few days to address this issue and that the expansion sale would be extended.
So, the good news is that they seem to be working on it and are very responsive right away to the problem. In the meantime, do not attempt to delete and redownload the app. It won't help and will only reduce your IAP list even more. I just wish I had purchased Electric Piano and Choirs while I had the chance! Lol!

@Lady_App_titude Good update and thanks for that. I can attest that the devs over there are attentive and hard at work.
[ISSUE IN-APP PURCHASES] Problem is solved, it should be back to normal. Sale are extended to 26th. Sorry for the trouble and thank you for your patience. - UVI
@BastienCo For IAP's that were made during this patchy spell is hitting Restore Purchases enough to make sure they're complete or do we need to delete / reinstall BeatHawk itself?
Thank You for the responses / attentiveness.
Hi, You don't have to reinstall the app, everything will be downloaded as soon as you have access to internet.
After all packages re-appeared you might have to do restore in app purchases to be able to download purchased items.
Hi, I installed beathawk from app store (last vestion), I just bought Musix pro to do few tests and it did work properly, I was able to play sounds in beathawk using Musix "keyboard". I went backgroud/foreground and I had no crash. I did it few times and it worked properly. Here is what I did:
o> I went to beathawk to enable audio-background
o> Lauched Musix
o> Set "MIDI" to on, "Send to Listening Apps" to on, "Send to All shown" to on, Channel to 1
o> Went back to beathawk
o> In Audio and MIDI settings I checked "Musix Pro"
o> Went back to Musix
o> Play on keyboard plays sounds in beathawk
Hope this helps.
There is no need to wait for 1.1.1, the problem was coming from somewhere else.
There will be of course the version 1.1.1 released soon, the version is ready so the release date will depends on apple review delays. It is a matter of days.
@BastienCo Thanks for the responses.
oha, musix pro looks interesting, never heard of it before.
@BastienCo
heres an odd thing: when importing a sample from Audiocopy: after selecting the sample in AC, the view switches back to Beathawk as it should, but the columns of files then displayed under the User category are all files that are "under the hood" files that I'm usually only able to see when I use my system status app- lib, ver, Developer, Library, Files, etc (?!)
Cheers on the ultra cool application, tons of fun and very smart.
Thank you, the issue of the files "under the hood" is fixed in version 1.1.1
It is a fun thing aint it? I particularly like being able to mute out pads in song mode to work on structure/atmosphere. Nice piece of development.
@BastienCo cool, and cool again!
@JohnnyGoodyear it really is a fun thing, one that once again I took a while to grok. And it was song mode itself that schooled me. Building songs without piano roll, but with so much else, (great audio, smart workspace, features) turns out to be a gas.
That there was so much to this one also threw me off, I think it was hard for me to believe there was as much there, and figured out as well, for the price...
I hear you. There's something old school about the look (and these days old school can be as little as five years ago
and the lack of timeline threw me off, but I sit and hit it and good things happen quickly. And, yeah, it's deeper than first thought, but not too complicated to get amongst.
In addition to the IAP's being back in order there's some really nice improvements in today's update v1.1.1 for BeatHawk:

» General: touching timeline moves playhead
» Browser: added preview for user samples
