  • @Janie - it's good it's working for you, and it sounds like you've evolved it into a custom instrument that matches your style of playing. I'm the same with iFretless - as a guitarist I love the UI and playing it is a joy.

I'll have another look at Orphion, but if it carries on being flaky with my MIDI apps then it's a non-starter, and I wouldn't use it as a standalone. It sounds like you have the IAP upgrade, I'm using the standard app and I don't think I have the extra features you've mentioned.

  • Not seeing it a free in App Store.

  • I couldn't get this to work with iProphet, anyone else have a similar issue? iProphet doesn't respond to MIDI from BeatMachine 2 either it seems.

  • @Janie you've inspired me to have another go with Orphion.

I used it in internal sound mode for a track - because I loved the variety of notes and slides you can get out of it. I played a bunch of notes and slides and sustains and then cut them around in samplr to make a nice 8 bar kind of bass guitar phrase.

I haven't tried with Midi Out - but i'm going to go off and do this (when I get time!).

One thing I can't easily work out how to do - even with the in app purchase - is to quickly restrict it to just notes from a particular scale my track is in... e.g. D minor or whatever. Is this possible - or do I have to manually go and create a template with all the right notes?

I also struggled a bit with consistently being able to hit a 'massive slap' sound versus a 'delicate pluck' sound acccording to my choosing. I think it has absolutely nothing to do with how hard you hit the glass - I think it's to do with surface area - although not quite as easy as thumb versus little finger. I found that using a finger nail was significantly different from using the pad of your finger - presumably down to the surface area thing.

  • Hope that can help.

yes if you've downloaded templates then they are on your iPad and stored within the app., first press the info icon in the lower lefthand corner, then press and hold one of the template selections in the middle bottom of the screen, hold if for a second, then release and the template preset menu will pop up.

Thank you! I've been missing out. The press and hold is what I needed. Not sure how I missed it, though I'm not sure if that was in the quick tutorial that pops up when ya first start it.

  • glad to help.

  • Am i alone? Mine doesnt produce sound :-(

  • Im sorry

    I had midi on :-(

  • omg-osh, :) when I first saw this thread at the top I thought Orphion had an update out.. boohoo hooooo but it's not so. Does anybody know when the Bastus is going to put the midi in in it, and can we start a kickstarter campaign to get Bastus to come back!!!
