And it will deliver MUCH more than just midi and the most advanced midi as well (looking forward to all the realtime groovequantization). It's a lame comparison if Auria was meant.Auria Pro will be lightyears ahead of every other iOS DAW.My biggest criticism about Cubasis IAPs is that they still don't have a preset system by the way.THAT is lame.
Bang on.
That's not the issue anyway.
They've REMOVED working functions, useful ones, and are currently spamming you.
Yes, spamming you.
You've bought and paid for it, it still has problems, that SHOULD have been fixed first.
But no, they're going to treat us all like mugs and stick 'BUY ME BUY ME BUY ME BUY ME BUY ME' reminders smack in the middle of a Pro DAW app !!!
FFS.
Absolutely
Would at least be decent PR (whatever else they do with it) to remove said excrescence upon receipt of purchase etc.
I use my own effects in Cubasis, to great success, so I haven't upgraded, but here are my thoughts:
TL;DR: I'm willing to compromise on a "shop" button in exchange for having regular positive engagement with Steinberg!
Everyone's favourite guitar amp app -JamuP Pro - has a reminder to buy more packs every time you open it. It also has a store basket button on the bottom menu bar at all time. Yet, has anyone reacted at all ? No. Yet that app has many much more users, I imagine.
So why does one person pick on Cubasis and on such a minor detail for a wholesale rant about Cubasis and Steinberg. Methinks anti-Cubasis PR is afoot by Auria Pro camp followers.
@Jomodu I don't think there are too many camps, just frustration at various parts of what is a good program and could be better yet. And also it's Wednesday and work's boring. You know how life is. I like @johnfromberkeley's civil take. Moving on.
The biggest advantage of the 'built-in' effects in Cubasis is the possibility to use multiple instances and that alone makes them worth it and they are very CPU-Friendly too.(I got both packs after watching Dougs videos on them).
But I agree the 'warning type' indication that they are not purchased yet can get a little annoying for those who have yet to buy them.
I would be more than happy to pay IAP for a proper built-in sampler with pads/keys inside Cubasis that could run multiple instances, support layered/split samples, lfo(s), evnvelope(s) controlling pitch, filter and amp and naturally support 'standard' file-archives like SoundFonts.
This would off course also require that Cubasis gets sample-accurate editing so we can 'cook' sounds and loops inside the app...
I'd definitely remove the shopping cart from the main interface page if I were them, for the simple reason that it is not needed when working with the app. No one wants to be sold stuff while trying to work.
The pop ups in jamup do make me shake my head, I just don't use it enough these days to think about it. I bought a zoom b1on and have been practicing and gigging through that lately.
I don't begrudge a company for making money, but when it interferes with using the app, even as it is opening, it leaves a somewhat bad taste in my mouth. Somewhat, because it doesn't ruin my life. And I can ignore ads, I have almost all of the jamup packs anyway.
My problem is that they have taken away functionality, a feature, to display ads.
It's almost irrelevant, or it should be, what platform it's on.
The truth is they wouldn't do it to users of other software they make, so why us ?
It's more like the behaviour of some company that shills 'gems' games than Steinberg.
If Steinberg cannot take us seriously, how can we take them seriously ?
@Jomodu - I am an enthusiastic Cubasis user. It's still my "goto" DAW - yes alongside Auria, but because it's quick to get things done and I have to think and plan more in Auria. Love them both. No camp here. :-)
It does seem that way. A lot of slack at Cubasis over this buy button. There are quite a few annoying apps that I bought that are constantly alerting me to buy more stuff -- Positive Grid and IKMedia are up there as top trangressors. I can see and understand the constant heckling if you are using a demo, but once you pay for a full version if should stop.
It was mentioned before but it's not the presence of a shopping cart button. It's the questionable business choice to replace useful functions for that button.
Besides you really have to understand the App Store mechanics and the way big companies like Steinberg internally fund their Projects. Mobile is an ongoing "expirement" regarding internal budgetting for companies that big.
There are so many app's out there. You have to create Revenue either by exposure or/and with inApps.
While they might work with games with Music it is hard to reach a sustainable return on invest after the Initial Peak.
If that one spot where they advertise drives you crazy I do understand but then again would you pay 150 USD for the App with 25 Dollar Upgrades once a year and no adervertising?
Surely not in the mobile world.
Its not easy but while each Company and Developer ultimately wants to create good Revenue that does not mean everybody wants to squeeze their customers financially.
Is there a good AIP pop up blocked or suppressor for iPad/iOS. Kind of like pop up and ad blockers for web browsers? That would be cool.
We've worked an non-intrusive messaging/news system into our apps now, and any that may not yet have it should follow.
@ikmultimedia - we appreciate that you eventually also listened to the community concerns about your popups. Thank you. :-)
thanks @ikmultimedia!!! Its always great to see vendors actively participating and interacting in the user base space. I guess I will have to get an iRig kbd now...
hey @ikmultimedia, great job on getting rid of the pop ups.
If you want to further improve, you could adopt Steinberg's color theme for the badges
Thanks for the kind words, but I apologize for the slight derailment. I definitely am not comparing us to Steinberg in context of this issue because the topic at hand is not popups (since they are not using them for this) I just wanted to reply directly to mention of our "transgression"
I do love Cubasis (have been a Cubase user for many many years so it is a natural fit) personally, but I'll leave the feedback on this thread's true topic to the rest of the user base here as I'm a bit too much of an insider in the industry to be anything but at least somewhat biased even if unintentionally so.
Fair comment, which is about 99% of what any of us hope for.
I don't get the JamUp buy pop ups? Then again, I hardly ever use JamUp when connected to Wi-fi.
I immediately liked you guys more, and actually bought more. The intrusive nags made it feel like your product wasn't quality enough to sell itself. Now, I'm really enjoying iLectric especially.
Non-intrusive! That's the way. Thanks
Yep! I highly recommend IK Multimedia products all the time now!! :-)
Hi all,
As announced, the placement of the shop button will not change with the next update. However it is in discussion to change the behaviour of the notification badge (in disappearing once the shop button has been tapped).
Best,
Lars
hi Lars,
the badge should definitely disappear -- that's what notification badges do once the message is read
