  • ^^^^^^^ ---------- Sweet!! That looks a bit of fun. :)

  • Hi mr. Bitshape I don't know why I haven't begged you before for this but how would you feel about making us a groove sampler beatmachine with your tc-styled ui. My fav app is Samplr but every time I open the TC I always feel like a sampling beatmachine version of your app would probably be the only other ui that could hold a candle to Samplrs interface.
Slicing up samples and manipulating beats and effects via TC Datas way of doing things would be fantasmagorical and I'm certain that anybody interested in sampling beatmachines would be willing to pay handsomely for the opportunity to compose beats this way!!!!!!

  • Very cool!

+2 on the samplr beat machine and looking forward to Orbiter.

  • Not going to make a beat machine. Just not my jam. My hope with TC-Data is that you could use it to control another app that takes care of whatever beat generation you're interested in.

In other news, TC-11 2.0.2 adds a global detuning (A 440Hz) function. Some guy asked for it a couple weeks ago, it was a good idea, so I wrote back and said I'd throw it in the next update. After adding it in I was checking out reviews and the guy puts up a 1 star review for my useless app. Sigh.

  • @BitShapeSoft
Kevin, you get 10 stars from me.... The latest update fixes that note on drag issue for me;) Now if I could get you to
add a user defined drag length option (rather than just short, medium, long) I will be ecstatic. Looking forward to trying TC-Orbiter which I just bought. First TC-goodness on the iPhone ;)

    Keep up the excellent work!

  • Not to brag, but I remember when I took basic synthesis class with Kevin back in early 2007. He taught us on Absynth 4 and the Arp 2500 hardware synth all hooked up to Motu's Digital Performer. :P Fun times.

This synth is a really tricked out beast. It lends itself perfectly to the ambient genre or for building unique pads that can be bounced to audio and used in a sampler. I can pretty much say that this is one of the deepest synths in the app store in my opinion. :) Whoever rated it one star needs to get his head screwed on straight.

  • @BitShapeSoft: this is really great news!, can't wait to get into it. Exactly the thing that was missing for me (even though I couldn't articulate it...), since the Pad is kind of fixed in my performances, THANK YOU SO MUCH! Cheers, t

  • Really excited by this development (and more to come!). TC-11 version 2 has become the powerful instrument I kind of always knew it was but couldn't get into. Thanks for all the hard work Kevin.

Just started using Orbiter and am really excited by the possibilities. Going through tc-data to operate Gestrument for example! Wow!

One request - is it possible to add a touch on Orbiter that cuts midi in some way? Like a midi panic button? Just thinking that this could then be an independent controller for instruments like Gestrument. Play while moving phone, touch screen and sound stops, release screen and sound starts? Don't know if it would work but...

  • Can Orbiter be used on its own as a controller, or only thru the other programs?

Maybe. In the meantime, I bet re-choosing the patch from the Patch popover would stop existing MIDI notes.

Definitely both. I'm going to make a video showing how to connect to your Mac via Bluetooth. I haven't used it with iOS apps directly that support CoreMIDI Bluetooth, but seeing as how it's just using Apple's implementation, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

  • Will try that, thanks. Also, it's probably more to do with Gestrument than TC-data. Other instruments only play when they receive something new anyway I guess.

  • So, it only works thru Bluetooth? Would its MIDI output work thru MusicIO as a means of controlling a desktop DAW? Is it different than, say, Lemur or Konkreet Performer, both of which directly send MIDI to other iOS apps?

  • It's not just Bluetooth; it uses CoreMIDI to output to any discovered port. So I've used an iRig to try it out with an old Roland keyboard lying around in my office. If there is an active port on your device it'll see that as an available output (and it outputs to all ports by default). So I assume MusicIO is good to go...

I do want to point out that it's only active in the foreground, and since it doesn't send notes, it's probably not that useful for same-device control (i.e., controlling another open synth app).

  • Am loving both TC-data and TC-11, apps which the iPad was made for :)

@BitShapeSoft Is it possible you could take a look at TC-data with Midimux (usb midi app)? I have a problem connecting TC-data through that, TC-data doesn't show up as a Virtual port. Most apps show up in midimux but not TC-data.

  • I can confirm that TC Orbiter works just fine with MusicIO to control VST's in Live9!

That makes me quite sad to hear but thanks for responding. A beat machine is quite different than a synth so using your other apps to control a beat machine app would not fit the bill or provide the same experience. I greatly enjoy your other apps though and always look forward to what you do and if you ever happen to change your mind you best believe you won't be getting a paltry 1 * for your efforts from me!

    Regards
