I purchased this drum-synth machine yesterday and it was really fun the way you tweak the envelopes.Awesome and inspiring, and the most important thing: sounds great (to me) Thanks Rodrigo

  • My most-used & misused app. Really looking forward to this! Also, Rodrigo mentioned somewhere that you can finally monitor sounds without playing the sequence.

@taroface Interested to read your 'compare and contrast' with the new Elastic Drums etc.

  • omgggggggggggggg thank you Rodrigo !!!!

life is beautiful.... Igor, Jonatan, Marcos, Rodrigo, Bastus, Loopy Masterpiece, Idensity 2, flux, turnado, cs spectral, elastic drums,

  • Seems to be a month for great updates...

  • yeah, it could be... I'm having Elastic issues :(

  • Ios 7 issues, I remember them well. You are really going to enjoy the new iPad when you get ready.

  • Just bought it today! After long considering, I feel this is the best sounding drum synth!

Makes a change not having to ask if everything will work on iOS 7 and an old iPad :)

No comparison be made! This is Russian style No 1!

  • very underrated drum machine IMHO
    LOVE IT!! :0)

This sounds like a serious endorsement, but where does Russian style No 1 fit in the Full Joy scale of positive approval?

  • edited April 2015

    Haha, Jonny

I played this Drum synth 5 hours without stop in my first day of purchase! I was watching and listening carefully Seekbeats for half year! No matters what I said the Russian EDM dance, the sounds full of life! It has good IAA audio sync to the Cubasis! With Cubasis amp effect and other effects, I still feel there is no comparison can be made! Oh, btw, there is no other ios Drum synth letting you adjust multi envelope (slope) segment! That is the professional stuff!

  • @Kaikoo Your enthusiasm sends me back to it!

  • yep it's kind of like bm2 or impc , the same but very very different.

I WAS gonna say "they go great together, like pb & jelly." But I was trying to MIDI sync them together this morning, and naturally everything blew up.

Off the top, these what they each have that the other misses:

    SB

    • highly tweakable envelopes
    • randomize slider for individual/all tracks
    • PADS with "velocity" + repeat
    • (hopefully soon) MIDI in for notes & pattern switching
    • performance view with really tight pattern switching
    • infinite snapshots
    • blue
    • sounds like SeekBeats

    ED

    • individual track lengths & playback speeds (!!)
    • randomize sequence
    • parameter & FX automation
    • bunch of different synth engines
    • X-Y master FX
    • orange
    • sounds like Elastic Drums

These just lead to pretty different workflows... I do more precise tweaking in SB and more sweeping movements in ED, which goes with how they're each named. I feel SB lends itself to creating a percussive backbone for tracks, whereas ED is more autonomous (which is why I wanna play them together).

A lot of my things in SB sound like '90s minimal dancehall beats. I haven't spent enough time with ED, but it's easily an effect app or two away from full-on IDM...

I tested them in Auria and go great together. It was a quick test.I need to see more

SeekBeats has some iPolysix taste in it!

@taroface You talk about IDM reminds me the Vector Lovers

His tracks has awesome drum synth sounds. Produced only using iPhone 4

  • Great recommendation @kaikoo. I just grabbed it from Spotify and it sounds good.

  • So I just bought Seek Beats. Really liked my first 5 minutes. It's all about the envelopes.

Has anyone tried, or has anyone got an opinions on using it to create nice sub bass. I'm thinking those envelopes could be great go that. I'm wondering if it goes low enough though.

You are welcome! Vector Lovers is a truly talented British musician.

  • Gotta love the Brits :)

  • @taroface Thanks for the run down. Gives a good sense of the directions. Especially interesting to combine I'm sure. Hopefully, with a little fiddling, 1 + 1 = something more than etc.

I've definitely generated some nice sub, but through the randomizer, so I couldn't tell you exactly how...

BTW, be careful using that randomizer if you max the parameters. It can go a little nuts!

Forgot to mention Elastic has the nice pattern export, unlike SeekBeats...

seekbeats dev did say he'd do something to improve export , even for tweaky beats as well but this was a while ago and it hasn't happened yet. guess it's on the roadmap, actually it's a great time to request it again.

  • Yeah, I emailed him about this when Elastic came out, to no response...

  • nice breakdown @taroface. Also:

A lot of my things in SB sound like '90s minimal dancehall beats.

    me too!

I totally agree that these apps are different beasts. And I do mean beasts.

Makes sense as there was a lot of connection to Mouse on Mars with the app's development. MoM was amazing live btw

Me too but he told me about the update for midi triggerings sounds a few days a go in facebook;)
