i picked up tonestack. not sure i need motherload. with they had clean bundle on sale.
so i guess one should be able to use BIAS and tonestack effects together , yes?
i'm sure it's worth the price but i just don't want to spend another"tenner"(which is 14 in ).I try to save my money for Auria Pro but EVERY week there is something else coming that i need to buy.I even barely touched Cyclop yet.I have enough FX but i'd like to have the cosmic echo without purchasing the rock pack (i don't even play guitar) or the Motherload.
I treated my mac to a bit of tantra and my ipad to the motherload, I want to do a session but my head is pounding.
I understand not wanting to spend too much money, and I've held back on Cyclop because of the cost. For me though this covers all my FX needs and more, and the whole lot costs less than a single Auria filter. Really easy decision for me
Via Audiobus or IAA directly into your DAW of choice, absolutely. But you should be prepared for some heavy cpu load. Bias has come a long way since launch, but it's still a resource killer.
I was only getting around 10% CPU load running iFretless and DM1 into a big chain of Tonestack effects, which was a nice surprise
I was getting ready to get the clean and blues bundles anyway, so I got the whole thing instead. For some reason, I cannot get my Bias configs to work inside jamup pro, tonestack is much more convenient to use and sounds great IMO.
Now all I need is Auria Pro so I can "time warp" my drumming into shape!!!
me too! BigChain with the polyOCT it raises sometimes over 15%CPU but not more, great!!!
Bought Tonestack for 4,99€ but was pissed that the Cosmic Echo wasnt inside.....closed it, try it 1week after, and
YES! it sounds just amazing, know with the motherload SUPERB!
I bought the ToneStack motherload when it came out, and bought the ToneStack Go motherload, which is also on sale I think, as well some time ago. That way I can run 2 instances of TS in the AudioBus chain.
Got the motherload bundle for £10:49. Sweet! For my Mac, got the Eventide Harmoniser 3000 on sale for $199 !!!!! Usually $349. Now that's a killer combination

One of my better iOS purchases methinks
What a lot for a little money (at the sale price) !
I'm getting a bit more used to it's 'sound', it seems there's a lot of gain on some of the amps /distortion devices leading to a somewhat overly-compressed 'mushy' (fullface-type) sound, backing of the gain / lowering the guitar's volume helps considerably.
As with a lot of these things, the presets don't necessarily do it justice.
It could do with a few more presets for motherlode owners - with are so many combinations possible it'd be helpful to have some that really show off what it can do.
I find a good trick to getting usable tones with any virtual amp is to place an EQ immediately following the amp to slightly scoop out some mids. Would love to hear some more EQ tips and tricks, other than using a 100' spiral cable to flatten the range like Hendrix did.
yeah they should really get a tone cloud running.
To get rid of the mush on higher gain, hit the amp with a tube screamer pedal. This is a common practice, but it really seems to make a big difference in TS. And if it sounds too thin/sharpin the high end, try the different output limiting options to low shelf the tone a bit.
I like to tinker, so the lack of presets doesn't bother me that much, I'II be making my own for these guitar sim apps anyway.
I really need some presets. No matter how much I tinker with the amps and cabinets i just can't make them sound as good as bias. especially when trying to get an acoustic sound.
I guess bias is just better.
Listening to some of (though as usual there aren't many) demos for Bias, the overdrive/distortion type effects sound a lot better than Tonestacks - but then again without a few more examples it's difficult to tell, and with so many combinations - would take years to discover ourselves. I'm of the opinion though that their effects are better quality, then again Tonestack was half the price, and comes with twice as many effects.
Not a big issue for me as it probably doesn't make a lot of difference when you're putting synths and drum machines through it, but f I was using it for guitar I reckon I'd have opted for the Bias app.
I just love making daft noises with the filters and modulators though.
Here's a brief noodle showing four Tonestack presets I made:
more preset with the motherloads addon would be very welcome....
but i am very happy what i have with it know, amazing brilliant,
the div EQ have all sliders with fixed F-Band....as i tweed with them, what i think/wished yesterday i had a graphic EQ with XY Parametrics....!
its never good enough
:-)
Any opinions about the Cosmic Echo?
And:does it work without hickups as IAA?
The distortions in ToneStack are not very good. The other FX are top notch, and sound amazing.
ok,bought the whole package now.Damn,i did it again...
I initially thought that, but I don't think thats the case now. Going through a selection of favourited amps / speaker combos and whichever distortion unit works best with them yields a good racket. Yep, some of them aren't great, others are.
Nice!
Maybe they can be improved with some adjustments to the cabs and EQ's in the fx chain. How do they compare with the BIAS FX distortions?
Works fine adding it as an effect via Auria.
I think you'll enjoy it, some of the effects are a bit lacking but there are plenty of good ones in there, and for a tenner it works out as very good value.
@monzo, see my post in the Bias FX thread. Like @Igneous1 said, maybe it is possible to get the right pairing of amp and pedals in TS. I haven't found it yet. WIth Bias FX/JamUP it is really easy for me to get a tone that I like. With TS, not as easy. I have gotten some Rock, classic rock presets that I like in TS. Not really any Metal patches though. The Metal Monger sounds really digital and fake. Kinda like the Digitech multi effects pedals form the 80's.
But, everything else in TS sounds really good to my ears.
This is something I've heard said a lot, guitarists who play metal quite like Jamup and are less keen on TS.
As someone who prefers clean sounds, TS is waaaaayyyy better than Jamup for me. BIAS is also great, and seems to make everyone happy. Haven't tried BIAS FX yet though, I'm still on iOS 7.
True. No argument from me on that.
Is it possible to load Tonestack GO and restore the Motherload there as well?Or do you have to buy it twice?Could be handy to have it 2 times available
^separate app will have separate IAPs. But the TS Go IAPs were on sale also last I checked. Get it fast!
