@paulB LOL that's funny.
@gjcyrus Thanks captain obvious. LOL Just kidding. Not sure why you said that though. Was anyone disagreeing with you? I don't see it.
Hey gjcyrus, I haven't had the time to watch it yet, but I think I'll find that video really useful.
For synthesizing in-tune kicks, you might actually want to use a synth that has precise tuning. Unfortunately Animoog doesn't have this, but I know Magellan does, on the prefs page. I just haven't played around with Magellan much yet (other than in the effects slot for Audiobus).
Would Magellan work to do the EQ sweep trick you describe above?
Some great techniques here, but the most imortant thing - let your ears be the judge. Incidentally, you can also use the new Studio EQ in Cubasis for the same thing.
@Ryan - i'm more like captain oblivious actually
@hmtx - not sure. ive only ever done eq sweeps using parametric eq but should be able to on any EQ.
Gotta go work now. Too much forum time
@gjcyrus LOL!!! That was awesome.
One more before I leave. Look at the bottom of chart for GENERAL frequency ranges. I'll be the first to say to use your ears but use it as a rough reference:

Useful chart. Thanks.
@gjcyrus- have you messed with the parametric eq in Beatmaker 2? It's not the most intuitive interface, but it sounds pretty good....
Just create a peak in any slot and sweep away!
@dubhaus - no, not yet. Thnx for the tip! I'll give that a go.
Here's my best shot at a synthesized sub bass kick in Animoog. I go thru chromatic notes roughly C0 to C1 and to me it sounds best around E0. I ran just the dry output first and then thru Magellan for compressor and EQ. I really don't know what I'm doing but thought it sounded pretty good.
So... Go ahead and blast/ critique my efforts.

Also, I recorded the other drum patterns from DM1, all phrases were recorded in Loopy then copied to GarageBand to trim it down and post to soundcloud.
After this exercise I have to agree with @Ryan, it's lots easier to just go by ear and choose what sounds best, but that's probably why I'm not getting paid to do this...
@hmtx - thnx for the info! Sounds good to me.
Yeah, these sorts of things are a breeze to do on say Logic or Ableton. It's trying to do them via ios apps thats a pain.
@Hmtx Thank you. I agree, it's really up to us if we want to go the extra mile and do things down to the digit. I am guilty of not even attempting to master my songs most of the time.. I just turn it up loud and if it doesn't sound like poo it's good to go. hehe I definitely don't suggest anyone do what i do. It's just what I do. :-)
Hey all, sorry I know this was an old thread but curious if there's been any new changes/apps that help with tuning drums. DM-1 is a good option if you only need to use their samples but as mentioned in the DM1 thread by synthandson and myself, there's a bug where you can only paste in one sample at a time, so until that's fixed, useless for those who have their own samples.
Is Nanostudio the savior in all this?
Thnx in advance!
