WARNING: Do NOT DO KORG GADGET UPDATE !

IOS 7/ AIR

Updated and now Gadget won't open.

Either a fuck up or strong arming customers to switch to IOS8.

If that is the case, I may be parting ways with Korg for good. I am all about choice and market forces, not corporate coercion.

  • I think you may be right about corporate coercion , but have the wrong corporation as the source.

  • It may be that because Darwin is the iM1 wrapper and that's iOS 8 only

    ALL of them.

    You can't rape the willing.

    :-)

  • Ha! Fair enough. I'm just glad I didn't update gadget right away.

    Geez..............

Huge disappointing IOS APP weekend. Synthmaster...............weauh whuaaa

    Now--- NO Gadget.

    LOL

  • Synthmaster will be sorted out properly very soon the developers want this fixed ASAP. Also it wouldn't surprise me if Korg issued a fix for iOS7 users of Gadget, the last thing they want to do is alienate customers

  • the reason for these problems is most likely that developers can't test on iOS 7 as easily as before.

we will very likely see a fix for the Gadget problem on iOS 7 very soon

    No doubt.

It is interesting to see this little surge in releases and updates. Very exciting.

Things have stagnated as of late on the app front. It has been a while since I have been excited to buy new things.

Doug - what's your opinion --- Should I just go to IOS8 already? Memory use was my only concern. I am wondering if i am becoming a hanger on --- -a bitter clinger of sorts..IOS7

  • Part of the synth master problem is apple won't let them beta test on ios7 anymore, so it looks like no amount of beta testing would have caught the issue.

I'm glad I don't write software (or do any type of computer work) for a living. At least human issues have a history and context to them (I'm a social worker). Of course my friend in IT has said the same about my profession, which is why we don't all have the same profession... But I digress.

    Common denominator = Bureaucracies

I tend to go in without knowing the context first. It helps seeing the person first and the context after that. I'm a music therapist.

Yes, I do the same, the referrals I get usually don't represent the person I set very well. But learning the context is very much a part of it after that, I have many stories that I can't share where the context completely reframed the situation.

Welcome to the audiobus therapy forum everyone!

    It's medicine time...................................

  • Gadget is working great for me on iOS 8.3 on an iPad Mini 2.

  • edited May 2015

No problems here either (iOS8.3 on iPad Air 2). Think the topic should definitely be changed to include that the user is running 'old' version of iOS...

iOS9 will hit us this fall and asking for iOS7 support is like meh...

  • edited May 2015

Gadget on 8.1.3 working fine here also.

Actually, it is, thanks for the reminder!

And @Paul, thanks for re-railing my De-rail, only to have me de-rail it again (yes, I'm a social worker with ADHD. I dare you to find one who doesn't!)

  • FOLKS, DONT DELETE GADGET, UNLESS YOU HAVE MADE A BACKUP OF YOUR SONGS!

  • Works perfectly on iOS 8.3 on my iPad Air 2

  • Me too. iPad Air IOS 8.3

  • So this update will brick Gadget for iOS 7 users? Any word from Korg?

  • edited May 2015

Developers are completely able to test on any device or OS version they wish. They can't use TestFlight with OS's under 8.0 to send out mass betas, but that does not preclude the developers themselves from testing.
See, for instance, one of the SynthMaster threads- he just got ahold of an iPad running iOS 7 something, so he can test on that as well.

( Korg says they are working on a fix)

    @Zymos
Yes, I should have been more specific by saying they can't send it out via test flight for beta testers. From the developer end I have no idea what's available, that's not my world.

I'm sure these issues will all be worked out eventually with gadget and synthmaster. Either that or I'll give in and update to ios8. Or I'll just live with it.

  • I've heard iOS 9 will be friendlier to older devices, I'm going to try and wait till then to upgrade, unless something comes out that I just have to have. Like iWavestation.

  • I'm going to try to hold out as well. The only thing that would force me to go to ios8 right now is if auria stopped working in 7. Everything else I can do without, although I'd prefer not to.

  • Thanx for the warning. And i cant use korg im1 is only for iOS 8 that sucks

  • Yep- down with iOS 8 only apps!!

It was hard for us to track down an iOS 7 iPad. It's definitely a hassle. Couldn't even get beta testers with iOS 7 to test until we switched from TestFlight to Crashlytics Beta. It's certainly possible, but I was surprised how much of a hassle testing iOS 7 has been. Certainly cuts into our time to do other things. It's worth it for us, though, since 10% of our users are still iOS 7.

  • Thanks for making the effort!
