Ya! After playing more from Arpeggist to Gadget link by Midiflow clock, I certain that Midiflow clock can not control Arpeggist internal clock! Hope this is sure answer now.

Anyone know if the 'MIDI in' allows external MIDI clock sync/start stop?

I've only tried it with loopy. No go.

  • I tried midflow clock to Tera Arp and it doesn't start/stop it's clock either but it does pick up the bpm.

Does that mean Step Poly is still king of the ArpeggiHill?

  • Does this talk to external hardware? Tera's synth doesn't. Just wondering if they added this.

They seem to have given this one 'proper' virtual MIDI ports so I assume it will talk to external hardware more easily.
I found that Tera Synth's MIDI out will actually work too with external synths (with MIDI LE). However, it fails to publish its virtual output port and thus sends its MIDI out to all listening ports (promiscuously). This makes it a pain to use alongside other apps and unsuitable for certain configurations.

This would actually be my preference in most situations! (hopefully with some quantisation/key sync options)

  • Just noticed that Arpeggist 'background activity' is quite high up the list in battery usage.

I don't own Step Poly Arp but Xynthesizr is still the King of MY Arp Hill. Start/stop, midi out on many channels, great internal synth engine with fx, etc, etc. Most importantly has no bugs afaik and the developer @Yuri is super responsive.

I really like Xynthesizer too, nice design and programming, great midi settings and top notch internal sounds too. I wish it had a pattern mode though... Hope it's on the horizon.

Step Poly playing into Xynth is a great experimental combo too, they play well together so you can have different patterns to trigger.

Have to give the same appreciation for Step Poly developer too very responsive to feedback and suggestions :)

    Both great apps.

Ya! I don't play Xynthesizer simply because pattern mode left out. Tricky probability mode confusing me plus where is the long gated time or lenth for each note! mSequencer app has so nice long gated time but no audiobus support.

Your lips to any available God's ears....

  • Notes reliably stick if playing when you stop the arp. And no panic button. Also silence if you keep on playing - no thru when arp is stopped. Only 1 MIDI channel out. Back on shelf until I hear this is fixed. SPA does it right.

  • Now that it is on sale, is Arpeggist worth getting if I already have StepPolyArp and considering that Kirnu Cream is right around the corner. I'm particularly interested in what you have to say about this @Kaikoo :)

  • I would welcome some FBA on Arpeggist also; have it but have not used it...

  • If you have steppolyarp, I'd say you don't need this, it's a nice little arp, but could really do with midi cc modulation etc. also had a problem when switching apps it lost midi connection, but for the sale price it's still a bargain.

I love steppolyarp and thus will carry on as is etc.

Is the rolling dice thing for each individual row (or whatever they call them) unique to this or does StepPolyArp have something like that as well?

  • also does Arpeggist have step divide, and slow down /speed up like step poly arp?

  • ? no takers?
