  • Nice one Matt! That will go in the mix..

Please let us both make out of the box dnb..the standard gets a bit boring sometimes

Love the track:) very cool noises and sounds here!!!! The beat is spot on too

Maybe we call it "psychedelic dnb"!!!!

Just recorded a bit of an experimental jam... Trying out some of the new Gadget patches I've created. Phoenix, Kingston, Wolfsburg, Darwin and Toyko.

Sorry, it's too long and you can hear few errors... I arranged it in one take just from a single scene using mute and solo and playing a few bits live...

The main purpose was to make some interesting noises. It's not in any way a finished track. But thought some might be interested... It's kind of spaced out ambient to a Toyko D&B beat...

  • Thanks very much. Might be something salvageable from the middle of it :). Pretty rough though :).

Nice Matt, I like the bass that comes in around 5 mins - really like the noises, makes me want to explore Gadgets like Tokyo more.

That's the thing with Gadget - you think it's all pretty straight forward and you know what all the Gadgets do - but there's a lot of stuff hidden away ready to be discovered.

  • Thanks @monzo . You're right. For example i realised that you can actually automate the Wolfsburg mod matrix... Not just the amounts, but actually what gets patched to what... That's nuts. You actually can repatch at 64th intervals if you so desire :)

  • Lol, it will be in the mix.. Mashed up matey:) will sound wicked!

I've no idea what any of this means, but I like it!

That is insane! I vote for this this to be the Gadget Tweaking Discovery of the Week

  • I did a Gadget track called 'Busted Wolfsburg' but apparently I had only penetrates the first outer circle of Bustedness because this is news to me.

  • This FREE app should provide some interesting movements for gadget

    TC-Performer by Bit Shape
    https://appsto.re/gb/wpA66.i

  • But it makes gadget crackle like a mfucker..gosh...

  • Amazing... great spot @touchconspiracy - I love TC-Data and regularly point it at Gadget. Anything by Bit Shape is amazing in my book...

Going to get this and try it out now....

  • iPhone too... and hopefully Midi LE over blue-tooth enabled... This is great...

The mod matrix is also the best way to automate CCs over multiple bars.

  • Hoping that at some point my own patches made in TC-Data can load in TC- Performer... that would be marvellous!

Mmm not sure I follow you... But i want to understand... what do you mean? The Wolfsburg Mod Matrix lets you hook, say, LFO 1 to Cutoff or whatever. It modulates internally to Gadget doesn't it? No midi cc's get sent out from Wolfsburg's mod matrix.

Sorry, I meant internal CCs (i.e. Cutoff, Resonance, etc.). For example, it's possible to create risers by taking a reverse saw LFO1 (negative "A") to the cutoff and bpm syncing it at 2/1, 4/1, or 8/1.

Oh, i misunderstood... I thought it had midi out to control Gadget... but it doesn't, it just plays its own internal sounds... like a "lite" version of TC-11.

Oh well. Interesting anyway... will be checking out and possibly sampling

Ah, yep... have had a fair bit of fun with that sort of thing already.

The crazy thing is though, you can configure the matrix arrangement itself, on the fly, with midi ccs... as your track plays. So half way through the riser you could switch the fact LFO1 is rising the cutoff and get it to start rising the pitch instead. You could get it to alternate between rising the pitch vs the cutoff on quarter notes. Or on the tap of a pad on an external controller! Or on the swipe of a finger across TC-Data. It's really "meta" if you think about it... You're not just automating your preset's parameters, you're able to automate the design of the DNA of the preset itself...

Who knows if i'll ever get round to doing this though!

Cool I was going to ask you how you were automating the mod matrix.. Sounds crazy. I'm mostly interested in dropping bombs, Gap Band style.

What more could any mother want for her boy....

    Who's mother doesn't love Gaga @ 1:51?

    probably abu dhabi

i've since moved away from gadget in favor of a samplr+egoist arrangement, but i still return to gadget to make drum patterns (i.e. not with breaks) and for the simple synths. the omission of triplets and higher-resolution sequencers/piano rolls from most drum machines is very irritating, gadget is good for that.

  • Someone should lock the Gadget devs in a closet and order them to perform a note-perfect cover of Bohemian Rhapsody but with the restriction that all vocals must be performed and produced in 5-second increments. It's the only way they'll feel our feels. (Sorry, this is vaguely off-topic)

  • I wonder how many takers they'd get for a Bilbao IAP that extended sample time to 30 secs....?

  • This is where I’ve got up to in gadget, two halves of the same experiment, done as two separate files, no idea how I’ll integrate them, or if I will — this is still sketchpad stuff for me at the moment.

  • I spent my first hour in Gadget: absolutely brilliant piece of software. Amazing app.

  • Its comments like this that really cry out for a like button..

Yep... If I ever get round to doing it :)

  • You better lol

I looked at TC data and decided I'm too much of a midiot for it..I don't understand all this midi cc stuff lol
