  • Which is a lot of fun, a mini launchpad for free.

  • Yamaha Synth Book - US by Yamaha Corporation of America
    https://appsto.re/us/q0O04.i

  • @rocco good spot! Like a mini ableton

  • The strangest app, that keeps on giving, my only worry is that it can hog resources, but for free, can't complain.

  • sample import?

  • Reface is coming ... whatever this is. I suppose a new synth or workstation from Yamaha.

  • Samples can be imported from Dropbox.

  • really quite good for free.....be nice if they made this a universal app too :)

  • Apart from the awful handbag trance sounds this is a nice free update - managed to get a sample in, didn't seem to be able to trim it but good for free.

Still no Audiobus and no IAA ,still pretty much useless. Half a gig of bloat pretty much. The saddest part is they have some really nice ideas but will only tease us with what they could do if they wanted. I might keep it on just until I decide I need to make room for something useful.

  • @Tritonman, I had to go and look this up to make sure I hadn't dreamt it but they added those in v1.5 https://yamahasynth.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=472:synth-book&Itemid=663

  • It has both AB and IAA, but still no midi out.

What is it listed as, I could not find it in my audiobus inputs just now? I will look again though thanks for the heads up.

  • Never mind I found it. How in hell did I miss it before when I looked? Cool beans anyhow!

  • This whole gig is a mystery to me, as regards their iOS Plan.....

    Chasing eyeballs?

Would seem to be the only sensible explanation, if they have a plan....

We always seem to convince ourselves that developers working an these apps a) communicate with each other b) operate under an overseer with the skills to coordinate. This is rarely the case with larger companies.

    Gratitude, is my Attitude! ;-)

  • The Yamaha Plan : One app to rule them all?

    If.................

    Steinbeck always has a plan.

Whether it is a good one is a different story.

  • I like jamming along to the beats, but I think I've found a few where the kick doesn't fall on the beat. Not a big deal though it makes me wonder.

Has anyone actually read the history section? It's quite informative, but I would have liked more in depth articles about the designers of the sounds, and some synths are missing from their list like the old DX-10 that I used to use with a breath controller thingy.

  • We have to confess than AN2015 is an awesome synth in Synth Book!
Together with Korgs iM1, AN2015 is my favvo iOS-Synths just now!

Cred to Yamaha for the amazing SynthBook!

  • Err, have you used the tempo slider, real time tempo change with fixed pitch...unbelievably awesome!! There is a sequencer for the efx, with presets, if you can get in your own samples this has lots of potential.

  • Ooh, this app is one of my faves. I have a few apps on my phone that I use as stress relievers and simple stuff. It amazes me how something free is so full of stuff. All those presets! I get lost in them! I agree that the book needs more info.. I shall check the update out soon!

  • Not audio share supported When I tried open in.

  • Worked beautifully through AB via FLUX into AS.....saved that preset... :)

  • I wish they would untegrate the Yamaha Synth Book (AN2015) into their Yamaha Mobile Sequencer app. The AN2015 and SynthMaster Player iOS are two of my favorite synths. Of course there are many other favorites (Nave, iM1, Alchemy Mobile, Sunrizer, etc.)

  • The remix tool is great. Dropbox import, loop length edit on beat, timestretch without altering the pitch! The launchpad app doesn't even do this as easily, let alone on the iPhone (even with the $7.00 IAP). For all you Korg users, it works great to export from Gadget and iKaosilator (Abelton Set) and load them in here. It gives you the chance to mix and match multiple loops, ideas, etc that for sure would be more difficult in both of those apps.

  • @BvsMV Thanks for the heads up. I don't know why the nineties-looking UI keeps putting me off this thing (and maybe because it's free also?). I just have to keep focused on the tools....
