The remix tool is great. Dropbox import, loop length edit on beat, timestretch without altering the pitch! The launchpad app doesn't even do this as easily, let alone on the iPhone (even with the $7.00 IAP). For all you Korg users, it works great to export from Gadget and iKaosilator (Abelton Set) and load them in here. It gives you the chance to mix and match multiple loops, ideas, etc that for sure would be more difficult in both of those apps.

can you get loops in by audio copy/ or open in from audioshare etc...?

  • Nope. And that's a shame. But I happen to have a bunch of old piano loops in Dropbox and it does work very easily/well. And the thing itself (Remix) is cool enough, does stuff the others don't do. Would it answer your standard list of questions Mister K? Nope. But it's still a piece of work.

As is the AN2015. And it doesn't have automation. And that's a damn pity because I hadn't realized just how much you get amongst the sounds. Thought this was a dance machine of a sort, and it is that, and no doubt most people will use it as that, but you can really scuff up the noise something fierce.

Took a very little figuring out past the UI, but it's a player of it's sort and I have def. been underestimating it. It's clunky and funky in most of the uses for that word. And wouldn't feel worth too much without AB. BUT with AB....stuff can get done.

And I'm sure I'm missing the half of it. Especially as what the hell their strategy is here. Do notice at the bottom of the main menu they have 'Yamaha Synth Book ver. 2.0' as a choice, but it's greyed out, so something's coming...

  • thanks JG, think I'm going to start a support group for copy past and audioshare sample import.

  • I'm quite happy to forego audio copy/paste for Dropbox import if I can only have one.

That would be Yamaha's new hardware synth, Reface :)))

Yes, it could definately benefit from being able to use Audioshare.. Not given it enough of a workout because of how Lame the loops that came with it were. Still I did find some joy from it and with a bit more work it could be very good.

  • No music remixer on the iPod Touch! :-(

I prefer self contained if there is only one option. I don't like having to use any network.

Hehe, yeah sussed it, the things we take for granted these days! :) Cheers!

Had the app (now apps) so long, didn't remember it was for the phone.

I mainly like the Chord Pads organisation..

Added: Saw a thread for AN2015 a while back, didn't go in, didn't realise at the time it was the Yamaha Synth book etc. Just tracked down and found the thread, (bookmarked) will browse through that at some point in time and space...

Yep! It's nice that Yamaha are showing some of those other (Big) companies, how to give back!

Free Apps from Big Corperations might be alright , but I had other things in mind. Lots of it!

Lots and lots of it ;)

  • The song Flies was created with samples loaded into the Yamaha Synth Book Music Remixer app via Dropbox and played in Audiobus through Dedalus to record into AudioShare.

    That's aweful.

  • In Audioshare clicking the little plus sign in the circle loads it up. It shows what apps it supports that are also on the device etc. I'm rather impressed.

  • In AN2015, has anyone figured out how to add or remove parameters from the central ball controller? I see that various included presets have different combinations of these parameters in the ball, but I can't figure out how to change them in presets I create from scratch in the User bank. I've attached a screenshot to show what I'm talking about. These are the parameters you can drag around while playing.

  • @markkilborn As far as I know that can't be done in the current version...

I know the AN-Engine is very capable (used to have a PLG-150AN attached to my SW1000XG) and it would be a joy to have it available as a stand alone, fully editable/configurable synth.app.

I'm thinking that Yamaha already has a more fuller featured version of AN2015, how else would they have been able to create all the patches that use features not available in the UI in the 'SynthBook' app?

Maybe we'll something later this year...

  • Music Remixer 'Not available on this device ' on iPad 3 !!!

  • I understand the new reface CS is also based around the AN engine.

  • @PhilW Yepp! ReFace CS is based on the AN, all the 'knobs' send and receive Midi CC so using an external sequencer to automate all the parameters would be really nice if I should fall down really hard and decide to get it. It's not exactly 'cheap'(4689:-) here in Sweden...

That would be great .. I've been using an AN1x since 1998... Still use it on every track after all this time.
