  • Not really on par with the slice titans mentioned here but thought it worth repeating because it's a different but interesting beast: NanoStudio's Eden will allow you to automagically slice any sample across the keys at varying degrees of fidelity (similar to Sector in that you can only set the number of slices vs manually setting slice points though you have considerably more options than sector). The slices work like an oscillator after which you get all of the virtual analog goodness that the Eden synth offers with which to manipulate the sliced audio (filter, 4 LFOs, three envelopes, effects...)

And, (further fanboy alert) you can have 15 going at once triggered by the best piano roll on iOS. Try doing that in sector or egoist. ;)

I just had some early morning Egoist action due to this thread. It certainly is pretty nice for getting some sample driven grooves together.

Never really fitted my workflow... but I might try to make it fit in somehow.

The bass synth is pretty nice too.

First and foremost regarding Egoist is the brilliant SYNC abilities with apps like Cubasis.

You are right with the bass synth. It is cool to have a primitive synthesis instrument with a complex program.

I think Egoist truly tests one's creativity.

Speaking of Egoist...I'm hoping Sugar Bytes brings over their new Looperator to iOS as well. It processes incoming live audio and syncs to whatever tempo u need obviously, there are a multitude of effects, envelopes, filters etc that can be sequenced & modulated along with the live input. Bit like effectrix, but completely different sounding with new FXs, filters etc, and ways to sequence and mod them. Then you have the slicer, you can grab pieces of the live input and re-arrange any/all of the 16 slices however you want.

It's got a big touch friendly UI, so keeping my toes crossed..

Sounds very cool for live use possibilities...

  • Speaking of porting Loopenator another app that is my favorite for sample slicing is Dr REX. It would be huge if Propellerheads brought the REX format to iOS somehow. I guess you would need Recycle too.

  • Chop function in BM2 is almost the same as Recycle.

    Cool. I'll check it out.
