@Matt_Fletcher_2000 You killed it again Matty! Very nice, lots of creative stuff going on there and I agree with Richard that the structure is spot on,nice fade in on the string pad thingy.excellent last 2 mins! Maybe if I'm honest I also felt the bass could have varied slightly in the first 2 mins but that's just me being picky.Do you ever write/structure your songs so that they could have a vocal written to them? I have a friend who has made some money writing backing tracks for house, pop and drum and bass.I think this is something you could def turn your hand to if you so desired:)
@Richardyot Well done mate! This song for me was that rusty classic car that sits in the garage that you know you could restore to its former glory if you only had the bloody time! Well you took the time mate and I'm so pleased you did cos the song deserved it and it sounds like you've learnt some good techniques along the way & I know you love that shit!:) Best song you've done man!
Thanks @LostBoy85 - you're right about the bass - now I listen critically to it. It was quite an old, half finished track. I think these days i'd be more about varying all the parts etc... I just didn't really notice it when I came back to it this month.
Erm... not particularly - but I guess I could... i'm still "waiting to be discovered"
...
@richardyot Sinking Slowly. Been away so just starting to catch up with all things I've missed. Beautiful, atmospheric & calming. Really enjoyed your hard work & compliments for the singing which marries well with the style.
@AndyX Bossa Nova Memories. This would have been great at my mums afternoon tea 80th birthday party last week. All up giving it some Strictly Come Dancing & they would have been feeling this groove. Love the ride cymbal work & altogether a very happy, cool number.
@BvsMV like the snare changing from hits on 2 & 4 to 1 & 3. Things like that add to your song & it all makes for an enjoyable listen. Could see some dreamy, melancholy type vocals sitting comfortably in amongst it. Got a flavour of U2 to these ears. Compliments.
Thanks
@supadom Candyman. Terrific song that could be part of a Paul Weller set list. You've got that bluesy tinge going on & the solos fit into it like a leather driving glove. Perfectly. Bounces merrily onwards to get my old plates of meat tapping along. Like it.
I'm trying desperately not to say "Candyman" more than 7 times in the mirror now). Think that's what the horror film of the same name warned us not to do). Nice one.
@Igneous1 Nice one & as a novice I can only hope that one day I will understand how to access all those sounds etc in your song. Cool bass line allowing the other instruments/sounds to shine & do their stuff. A Friday high five.
@Necrome Kong Bai Ge.
Charmimg, mellow & meant. less is definitely more in your song, no need for the complications of adding for the sake of it. It does its job thoroughly without the distractions of having too much else going on in the background. A lovely song.
@Bluepunk thanks for the listening and compliments! Am totally new to iOS recording and hope to get something out every month!
Thanks a lot for the kind words! I was thinking about adding some vocals to this one actually, we'll see if I get the confidence up.
Do it.
@touchconspiracy Deeper into you. Got the juices flowing on this Saturday Morning. The echo/delay? (I'm still learning) is hauntingly good & that ladies voice that I hear works so well I'd like to hear it some more. Nice tempo changing. Good stuff.
@Matt_Fletcher_2000 Cool, infectious bass line that cements your song together. An uplifting song that I enjoyed. I'm a novice but all sounds perfectly mixed to me & if that bass is from Thor, I need it! Oh & Gadget. The list continues!! All in all a great track.
Hi I'm quite new to the Forum, here's a techno track I made on an iPad mini while on holiday in Greece. It's all done in Gadget using imported drum samples, Darwin, Abu Dhabi etc .
I look forward to checking out the tracks tomorrow ...
Not a 'dance man' but this works for me. Has a relentlessness about it that hooks me in to listening. I prefer to be seduced than bludgeoned. Was talking earlier about Cabaret Voltaire and I can easily hear some of their vocal sounds/samples over this. Look forward to what some of the more tuned-in members of the Club have to add about this.
Hafta say I found the first half stronger than second. The break around 2,30 didn't fly so high for me and I didn't quite find my way back to where I'd been after that, but a good debut Mister Tyburn. What apps?
Wow just listened to the tracks on offer! Great stuff here!
Mar all - No Happy Endings - painfully beautiful, I wish I could write songs like this.
Gary Goh - Kong Bei Ge Cover - I don't understand the words, but I do understand the emotion, sounds like love lost, looking back to a happier time - very nice, lovely
AndyX - Bossa Nova Memories - brilliant lounge! ... I'll have a martini with a twist please.
BvsMv - Radiance - nice evolving piece, tasteful arranged , reminded me of early Air meets early U2 - excellent!!
AlterEgo UK - The Dream - love this, dream like pads really lift this to another place ... The production is perfect for this track, the country feel is great too - nice job!
Touch conspiracy - Deeper Into You - the M1 is a classy intro - then we ease into some nice electo trancy house grooves with tasteful vocal samples - very haunting - very good
Supadom - Candyman - this genius - like a one man talking heads - brilliant !!
Richard Yot - sinking slowly - this sounds lovely - haunting - nice keyboard melodies - I would say the vocal could maybe come up in the mix a bit more - but that's a minor thing - bewitching!
Igneous1 - Unrestricted Charles
This also reminds me of early Air, - great analogue synths bubbling awAy in a chilled out track - great arrangement too - pulling it back when needed. Good stuff.
There's so many great tracks here - I'm very impressed. If someone was to hold a gun to my head and make me pick one, I would have to say Candyman
Cheers for the listern Johnny, it's all Korg Gadget ... I'm a bit addicted to that app I'm afraid ...
Yoa ,Tyburn Tech,I see you've just joined ,Welcome Abord ! Enjoyed! your (snipet) --nice mid nineties sound ,all the elements of that period and (Gadget)kinda leans that way, which is a big hole to fill and they have done it all in just 1 app,--Great!--- incidently I noticed on your list of contributors that a certain Johhny Goodyear wasn't mentioned ,I'm sure that was an oversight on your part and his song (Don't Worry) IMHO is a fine piece of work. Listening foreword to more of your work!
Sorry Johhny ,(Don't You Worry)
Cheers Greenie! Apologies for missing Johny's track - do you have the link?
Tyburn Tech, re.Johnny Goodyear, page 3 ,a short piece ,no name as far as I can see ,cracking vibe and page 6 Don't You Worry.
@TyburnTech: Welcome! Glad you liked The Dream
Yours is a very professional sounding track, relentless, as JohnnyGoodyear said, but that goes with the genre. The choice of sounds for the main parts was good and the groove got me bobbing along but I also think the break in the middle could have been made a bit more interesting.
@AlterEgo_UK The Dream. Catchy, lovely vocal melody & a song that you could find yourself humming or whistling along to while getting on with the toils of the day.The title perfectly matches the style & instruments used. Are the vocals double tracked? It's a compliment & I'm penning my first ever track & trying to gain as much knowledge as possible in the different ways folks record/sing. Enjoyed your song very much.
@Marcel No Happy Endings. Wonderfully understated song that hits the heart. Nice guitar sound & playing that compliments the story you're telling. Oh & im sure there WILL be a Happy ending......... Just keep on writing songs Marcel. That's Happy!
@TyburnTech Welcome mate!:) nice track, great mix,I liked whatever the hell that sound was in the break?
@Tyburn Tech Imformal Imformer. Fabulous stuff that could be on an Annie Mac show. The pumping bass drum knits it all together well & I love all those glitchy (is that correct? I'm still learning) sounds. If you'd written this in Ibiza & not Greece you may have been listening/dancing to your track, that night, in a club there. Nice one.
@JohnnyGoodyear Don't you worry..........................about a thing, cos every little thing, will be alright. No pun, just saying.....you dont (have to worry) cos you're vocals are so cool. You possess that country twang to them that sounds organic & unforced. I'd like to hear you with the bare minimum of vocal effects added & listen to it with all of its natural intricacies on display. Really good.
