This is the very reason I bought my ipad/Gadget and sold off my hardware. All I have left now is a Microsampler (quickest way for me to get samples into Bilbao) and a Nord Lead 2 (kept for sentimental reasons/drum sounds, but I haven't turned on for months).
Does Gadget sound as good as my vintage analogs, digitals and samplers? No F way - not even close. Am I more productive than I've been for years now that I can write songs in my lunchbreak, in the park, in bed, on the throne? YOUBETCHA!
I think once we get an app which is more like a complete DAW - an app we can use from start to finish to write songs, record vocals, etc, we will see more musicians take the ipad more seriously. I'm really hoping that Gadget will evolve into this at some point very soon.
Hear hear...
@Eraser may I ask what sounds you sample with your Korg Microsampler? Isn't it easier to sample into Audioshare or hokusai or something on the ipad?
Hehe - you're probably right! I'm still pretty old school in many ways and I'm still pretty new to ios! I will check out those apps though - I guess I'm wary of the line in quality/DAC's of the ipad (I don't have an audio interface for it).
I used to create drum sounds with my Pro-1, Norddrum, ER-1 and Nord Lead 2 and sample them to the Microsampler, because it's such a quick and easy process - really well designed for quick 1-shot sampling.
I have been using (and copying/pasting) drum sounds made in ielectribe and Dublin recently with good results though so am definitely moving in that direction. I guess I don't want to totally say goodbye to hardware just yet!
