  • I don't have the desktop version but from videos the desktop and ipad version seems almost identical

  • Ok, ok, I'm sold :-)

  • You are all jerks. Hope you contribute to my daughter's ever depleting college fund for basically making me buy this.

Ok so I got a little carried away and ended up with 17 different audio files, but here's what I did. I took a simple drum beat in DM1 with the 808 and sent it to Turnado the to Audioshare. I found I just wanted to keep going and playing and that's how I ended up with 17 plus over 6-7mins of audio until my wife rolled over and caught me...o wait that's @gjcyrus problem : ) Anyways I made two 3+ min files with the normal loop in the beginning then just stacked each audio file in Cubasis via Audiocopy/paste, no editing or anything so sorry if transitions are bad. It's a mixture of effect presets, dictator presets, x/y pad playing, and etc so it goes all over and there is a wide range of stuff mixed in. All done on an iPad 2 with no issues. The same drum loop was used the entire time because at one point it sounds like a few diff instruments...enough rambling....enjoy!

  • @JMSexton a randomiser button for Audiobus would be awesome....

I have to admit I was hoping for an app free month but hey ho.....

Awesome FX app though very high quality.

  • This is by far the best FX app I've seen on iOS. By a country mile.

There are only a few improvements I'd like to see to Turnado (this app is absolutely stunning, so these aren't criticisms, just suggestions):

    1. The ability to record automation. This would be epic.

    2. A landscape mode option.

    3. Make parts of the interface a bit more touch-friendly, as at the moment it's difficult to precisely touch the correct part of each FX box to bring up the presets menu every time reliably, and the detailed FX controls (where you can adjust every aspect of the waves and modulation, etc.) are a bit small to be comfortable. The double-tap zoom feature helps, but feels shoehorned in when it comes to an iPad interface.

Like I said, though, this app is stunning. I recorded a very simple beat into DM1 and manipulated it via Turnado for over an hour!

  • Landscape mode and i'm in.

  • amazing app. It would be really cool if they would make a native version for Auria, just like Jamup for example.

  • Also a tip: if you press and hold on most any knob you and Midi CC Learn it.

@Michael_R_Grant are you sure recordable automation isn't already there? I haven't checked but I thought it could... I could be wrong thought, but this app does sound great I didn't goto sleep till 0230...

  • Sugar Bytes sent me Turnado this morning so I'll spend some time with it and crank out a video and some audio tracks in the next couple of days. I'm interested to see how it will benefit my style of music (not really a "Beatmaker" or "crunk" type artist). This could prove to be very interesting.

  • Landscape mode would be nice

  • @JuniorPops YES!!!!! Landscape is a must have

It's so easy to get lost in for a while just playing. Here is something I did with Figure (also portrait only so it was easier) and Turnado this morning, and I edited it a little better and kept it shorter than the ones above. It did fade in and out at beginning and end but forgot to include it in the mix down.

  • Hmmm, play that crunky music, white boy...

  • Hehe not really a track just playin (that funky music) "figure" I would slap some pieces together for people to hear all the different stuff you can do, and that's nothing...o and pun intended

  • @DerekBuddemeyer Looking a this I think you could get some very interesting guitar effects going on here and it has all the standard stuff..it will very interesting to hear what you come up with..

  • Looking forward to a crunked @DerekBuddemeyer!

  • I already bought Midibridge and Traktor DJ (for iPhone) today.....but this looks great. This forum is even worse than Palmsounds for your wallet!

My wife asked just last night "do you really need all those Apps you keep buying....?"

    Well of course :D

  • Derek, I'll be very interested to see what you make of it, as I think your music is not dissimilar to my interests. I've seen Turnado promoted as a "beats" fx machine which doesn't really appeal to me (although I know a lot will love it) so your feedback will be keenly awaited!

  • Well, the devs provided me with the app and I messed with it for quite a while today. I think it would work really, really well for what it's intended to be.....but for me it's a "no go". I just don't see myself using it for anything I'd make....and believe me, I've tried. Not saying its a bad app, because its not...it just doesn't fit into my bag of tricks. Although, I might try again in a couple days...I'm still foggy from my migraine medicine and haven't been myself today....my guitar could have been a toilet plunger today as far as I'm concerned...couldn't seem to make that thing work either...lol. Back to bed for me!!

  • As usual I weakened for a moment and all was lost.....yet another App in the collection :)

Having spend a couple of hours playing with Turnado I'm impressed with it's versatility. Be warned however that it takes a while to get your head around the modulation routings. The video above is a big help but you still need to experiment a bit to get it worked out.

I spent most of the last hour playing guitar through it. If you're looking for accurate guitar modeling software then this won't cut it. If however you love the strange pulsing patches that Guitar Rig is capable of then there's lots to like here. With an envelope follower and two LFO's, including a step sequencer on each effect, there are lots of modulation options and some very strange sounds can be produced.

Great fun....if your into that sort of thing?

  • Thanks, Derek, that fits with my thoughts - great app for some people but probably not for me. Hope you get well soon!
